What's the big difference between 970 and 980? I'm starting to get sick of my current hardware and want something 2014-ish.
What is VR direct? If im correct does the rift run through extended mode now or something? Would this not be changed with CV1 then without use of a nvidia 980. I got a 780ti but im not to worried about performance. I am however on getting a optimal expierence and definetly would upgrade the shit outa my pc if VR direct has any major impact depending on what.
"Direct to Rift" mode is already a thing we can do with the DK2, I assume the hardware is built with some nice tweaks to enhance how that works a bit. there is zero reason to worry about upgrading from the 780ti for a good while
I'm keeping my 770 until the CV1 launch basically. We still have almost a year until that.
970 is supposed to be like $350 and the 980 $500-550 [editline]18th September 2014[/editline] actually, [editline]18th September 2014[/editline] http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/35793-nvidia-adjusted-launch-price-of-gtx-980-and-gtx-970
Wow that is quite the price gap between the two... Any official benchmarks yet? I want to know where 980 stacks up against the 780 Ti or if I should wait for the 980 Ti Don't they come out tomorrow? There is no one thing that will make it better. Just all around

Slightly disappointing it isn't some huge leap. Most likely they focused on power/heat. Next years might be a bigger leap. I have a 6950 so I'm rather tempted to get a 980/Ti for TW3, GTAV, and MGSV. And because I'm working full time and don't have many hobbies I could always upgrade again next year :v: Any idea what the naming scheme will be for next year since they're at 9xx? When they were at 9xxx they went to 2xx. [editline]18th September 2014[/editline] just did the Arkham Origins benchmark on my PC with presumably the same settings. 26 fps lol (vs 147/128 with 980/970) granted vsync was on but turning it off usually only gets another few frames if you're below the refresh rate anyways time for an upgrade
Personally, I'm waiting for AMDs R9 300 series.
So I've now played with the rift for a few hours, and I noticed something peculiar and amazing. The depth is just amazing. Like, it blows me away. I was playing Crystal Rift, and the ceiling there is fairly low, and they allow for a fair amount of moving around in position. And just, wow, I have no words. It felt surreal. Like, it felt real. Too real. Like... aghsdjks. It was awesome. The Oculus is definetely one of the best purchases I've made this year. Gonna set up my steering wheel tomorrow and play some Euro Truck. What was the name of that one space shooter thing?
Personally, I'm waiting for AMDs R9 300 series.
What is their release date? I doubt AMD would blow nvidia out of the water Also AMD cards + rift + DCS = no working. Might as well go nvidia this gen

There isn't anything solid on the R9 300s yet, but speculation is an announcement soon now that the GTX 9xx is coming out, and a possible December release date.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/223750/
Oh, that's neat. How's it compare to War Thunder?
I haven't really played it. But I'm guessing it is a lot more hardcore/realistic than War Thunder. It is a flight sim, not a flight arcade game
I am entirely okay with those prices. I've got the cash saved for the 980 already, since my 560Ti is showing its age. Everything else should be pretty solid from here forward, though, seeing as I've got overclock potential all the way to 4.6Ghz on the i5.
I haven't really played it. But I'm guessing it is a lot more hardcore/realistic than War Thunder. It is a flight sim, not a flight arcade game
War Thunder has a simulation mode. Haven't played it but it looks quite in-depth with your controls.
War Thunder has a simulation mode. Haven't played it but it looks quite in-depth with your controls.
It disables ALL the flight assists and HUDs, though, so I hope you can read WWII-era navigational instrumentation.
nvidia stream confirmed those launch prices by the way or at least that is the MSRP. they'll probably be stupidly more expensive for awhile
nvidia stream confirmed those launch prices by the way or at least that is the MSRP. they'll probably be stupidly more expensive for awhile
Hopefully NVIDIA launches their OEM cards again. I always love the reference designs. Then again, I'm hoping to pick one of these up around January, so it might be a bit cheaper then.

I love how half their pitch is "We've worked really hard so you won't get sick in VR." I also love how they're really, really trying to sell the cards in SLI, since right now a 770 handles most VR stuff almost flawlessly. Yes, two 980s will run most things in VR in ultra-extreme graphics, but if VR itself makes things seem more realistic, why bother? I'd wager one 980, or even a 970, will be able to handle most of the early VR titles with ease, and loads more besides.
Its going to be interesting to see what AMD has to put in for their next generation.
Anybody got Vireio configs to properly use games with the DK2? Looks like you have to fuck around with the convergence, scale and FOV a bit

July 1st, It'll come soon i know it ;'( Lets hope they're doing australian shipping as the normal pace of everyone else and not a large batch like before.
Anybody got Vireio configs to properly use games with the DK2? Looks like you have to fuck around with the convergence, scale and FOV a bit
is vireio updated for DK2 now?
is vireio updated for DK2 now?
Yes if you use the nightly builds
The Asynchronous Warping is something Carmack was talking about that he got working in the mobile SDK for GearVR, but desktops didn't support it yet. Seems Nvidia is jumping in. Let's hope AMD will too before the end of the year.
Yes if you use the nightly builds
hm, nightly builds doesn't sound too stable, is it worth bothering with?
