Been using this for the past couple of minutes https://developer.oculusvr.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=8182 It's pretty well-made. It does stutter a bit when you turn, which is a shame. Causes a tiny bit of eyestrain if you focus too much on it. Overall I like it. I'd love to see this become more because it's actually pretty entertaining to browse the internet on a curved VR display :v:
Is this what people use to watch movies on the DK2? Or do they just use riftmax. My DK2 is on order but movies are my favorite activity so I wonder incase it arrives.

speaking of riftmax, I've heard people mentioning the depth in 3D movies is great in it. Is there any special setup you have to do to get that working? Particular source file types or youtube links or whatnot? their site is really lacking explanations
Crashes for me every time after the big empty room (where it drops you down). What's shown in the next scene?
Theres a [sp]slenderman scene to show how VR can invoke emotions, and then it takes you to an abandoned house to show the effect of scale in VR, and then it takes you to a 80s-90s themed room of a school kid with old games playing on the TV and shit to show how you can experience past events (aka your childhood) and then it goes on that same forward moving belt thing as the very beginning with TVs on the sides, and finally opens up to Earth floating in space with a giant "Oculus" sign rolling towards it[/sp]

The depth either wasn't working for me or wasn't that good with a 3D youtube video I was trying to play I'll just wait for the rift theater, riftmax isn't worth fiddling around with

Liked the Ready Player One references in the TV room :v: Also got in contact with the demo's developer after I gave my crash report. He says he'll send me a test build soon to see if he can fix the issue with Direct mode crashing.

It's strange to get used to a first but it is the best allrounder for watching any media.
Looks like the Crescent Bay's lenses are mounted together on a flat panel rather than having to switch them out separately. Makes things easier. Also note the different shape that allows them to utilize even more of the screen's pixels. [t]http://i.imgur.com/E666wQz.png[/t]

Now, I do have a bit of a question about this... How does one configure the IPD with Crystal Cove, or do you? Are the different lenses just configured for different IPDs? Have they just found a universal IPD that works for everyone?
There was a report from one of the testers with a high IPD that the picture seemed perfect. We don't know if it's the lenses or if they found some magic bullet that makes it work for everyone, or if they have hidden cameras or or.

You can either use LiveRiftView and play around with the convergence until it feels very relaxed on your eyes or just use this website: https://pd.warbyparker.com
virtual reality anime orgy, it was only a matter of time
I find it interesting how pretty much all the NSFW Oculus Rift content is just all anime. Really goes to show the demographics at play here.
computer nerds with internet connections
Was at the optician yesterday and found out my IPD is exactly 63.0mm
I find it interesting how pretty much all the NSFW Oculus Rift content is just all anime. Really goes to show the demographics at play here.
unfortunately anime does absolutely nothing for me
xstoryplayer theres a thread for it on facepunch lol
XStoryplayer sucks though. ...not that I have tried it or anything.
Tried to make a first person camera mod for the DK2 until I hit one fatal flaw. [t]http://i.imgur.com/5vaiLHa.jpg[/t] The USB port is the wrong way around.
unfortunately anime does absolutely nothing for me
Same here. Actual porn doesn't do much for me though, so I don't really understand the appeal of either. Dunno, maybe that's my Protestant upbringing talking.

That might rev your engine.
So here's something interesting. Right now, it's looking like it might be more cost-effective to buy two GTX 970s for VR than buying a single 980. You end up spending $100 more than the cost of a 980, but you get an additional 50-60fps in SLI. Considering Nvidia seems to be driving their VR SLI stuff, and since the 970 SLI has such a fantastic price/performance ratio, that's probably going to form the heart of most VR rigs. Also, it doesn't do too terribly as a single card either. Across most benchmarks, there's a mere 4fps difference between the 970 and the 980. I think I might be picking up a couple of these instead of the 980. (That's based on factory-oc'd cards, though. The stock 970 has about a 7fps difference. Still not worth tearing your hair out over, and probably worth the $220 savings over the 980.)
unfortunately anime does absolutely nothing for me
Anime does it for me, not low-poly badly shaded shit ripped straight from MMD though [editline]27th September 2014[/editline] I wonder how the 3D sound driver they're gonna have will work though. Will it detect different materials and stuff? Because the sound environment in a log cabin is not the same as in an auditorium. My concern is that in some games, like Crysis, if you go upwards infinitely it just creates more and more space and if you go in some horizontal direction infinitely it will just start rendering more and more sea as you move along... In the Source engine however, even if you are technically not inside a building, you are always in a box. A box of invisible walls, because otherwise you can't compile the map. What will they do to get around that, if such a system will even work on Source at all?

These cards will be more tested with their supposed VR-gains, new cards announced, and costs lowered.

I've got SLI 670 4GB cards right now and so those hopefully will make a good set of cards for a second rig with Rift. I'd get the 970 over the 980 after my experience with 670's. Great value. It was like $400 cheaper than SLI 680's at the time for such a small performance difference.
970 is more bang for your buck in general compared to the 980 it seems, better price to performance ratio
There hasn't been a single graphics card generation where the second-to-last performing card wasn't the better one price/performance wise :P Anyway, I stopped buying cards around their launch dates; there's just too many uncertainties in long-term performance, new cards from the competition, and possible price-drops resulting from that.
