the hype is too real
When did you order? never mind, checked your post history. Mid-August suggests I still have quite a wait ahead of me.
How is it? I hope Canyon gets the same patch, driving around at ludicrous speed sounds like it would be fun as fuck (Or vomit-inducing, take your pick).
I only have canyon so can't really give any personal reviews. But people are saying that it is a good implementation. Third person, isn't nauseating.
DCS is pretty neat in the rift. Only seems to work with nvidia cards though. I have no problems with it on my 980
DCS is pretty neat in the rift. Only seems to work with nvidia cards though. I have no problems with it on my 980
I have a 980 and an i7 4790K and I'm getting around 45 fps and noticeable judder. Did you do anything specific? In some games I've eliminated the judder by lowering the res of my 60hz monitor from 2560x1440 to 1280x1024 to be able to set it to 75hz. I don't remember if I actually tried this with DCS so I'll do that later. Any other ideas?
That's probably around the frame rate I get, its hard to fucking check with the rift. And I don't notice the less-than-75 FPS difference in DCS (I don't think). Every rift game I've tried ever has what I would call "jutter" (or stutter. Basically turning my head anywhere doesn't feel smooth, like my head is on a bunch of gears with big teeth when it rotates). This is what I assume people call jutter and so I don't know what people consider "jutter free" to be if it is always there. [editline]17th October 2014[/editline] Games are perfectly fine when not moving my head.
I feel left out of the fun with the old kit, but I didn't see a need in getting the newer one since the consumer version is basically a year away. It's cool to see all the improvements they've made so I'm glad you're all providing the lovely details. But, I DO definitely notice my one dead pixel. :c [editline]17th October 2014[/editline]
After building a $10 racing cockpit a few days ago for an upcoming lan I realized how damn awesome they are to use and I'm thinking I want to fab one out of steel to use with a HOTAS/Racing wheel for when Rift releases. I can only imagine how awesome racing, or flying would be in Rift.
Once I get a nicer bucket seat in my car I'm going to make the old one I have now into a sim chair, I've only used one once but it makes an incredible difference.

Thinking about getting the DK2, what kind of performance can I expect from it with these specs? CPU: Intel i5-4670K 3.4GHz GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 GHz Edition RAM: 8GB DDR3 Not sure if any other info about my machine would be relevant.
I wonder if I'll ever get to use the Oculus Rift.
If you're in more need for a DK2 than I am, I can sell you mine for good price. Since before getting one I've been wanting to hand it off to a friend, or sell it here first before selling it high somewhere else. US only sorry.
I've managed to get my s3 hooked up to an app called trinus Gyre. I can now play space engineers on my google cardboard. [editline]18th October 2014[/editline] However, the crap state of my connector cable and or port is now apparent.

I also got a rad Sevastopol hangar crew patch on it.

I can barely make things run around on welfare cash ... It fucking blows
They should add the ability to use a mic, so when you scream or yell, they alien hears you.
This seems like something Valve would do, what with them expression interest in implementing other external factors like heart rate and shit into their games.
holy fuck why have I not tried this yet?!
it's amazing it's amazing it's amazing aahhhhhhhhhhh I've literally tried it for 10 minutes, walking around one small area, but holy fuck the presence

I can't speak to "need" here, but I've been following this since the Kickstarter and the itch has long since passed unbearable.
The Oculus website says that orders of the DK2 are expected to ship within 6 to 8 weeks. Is that accurate or are they just covering their asses in case it takes a while to arrive? I live in Australia by the way.

I ordered mine August 14th and it just switched from Pending to Processing on the 16th this month. It's just a few days past the 8 week mark. However, I'm not sure how often Oculus ships batches out to oceania, but if it's as often as NA/EU, I think you'll be good.
I envy you. For me, the shadows are rendering different in each eye, making it pretty unplayable. :c
There is a fix for that. I don't know quite what it is, but maybe you can find something on Google.
