"no headaches"
yes but your neck will snap if you turn it even slightly
I want to read the entire checklist there.

lmao nevermind found it
I want to know how that actually is, because it just looks so stupid.
(Also, it's $1000 per set. So, uh, that's not really going to be much of an Oculus Killer.)
Jesus fuck. if this thing takes off, so will brain cancer
Man they look stupid, though
[editline]4th January 2015[/editline]
I mean really? Going out to eat in that?
That's the entire point of the video though.
Doubt it even has optics, it's likely just a tablet suspended on the front of your head.

I'm sorry, are you talking about the Rift, or the Galaxy Gear, or the stupid 3D Head thing?
Because it's clear VR is going to be pretty big. All the major companies are investing in it right now. Some of these will fail, some will succeed, but it's not going anywhere any time soon.

Considering that it's running off the same VR concept and display methods from years past (screen on face), that's not essentially a true point.
Unless you're talking about the little kiddies that would want to pick one up from seeing that bullshit ad / video they have, then yes :v:

pretty sure he's just making fun of the 3DHead
I tried out the Oculus Rift last week and holy shit that thing's amazing.
Can't wait to get my hands on the consumer version.
Any news on what resolution they're aiming for? Cause those black dots make my eyes hurt

Did you try the DK1 (720p) or DK2 (1080p)? The consumer version will most likely be 1440p, the prototype is the Crescent Bay. The screen door will be masked by the new optics, as Iribe said in a recent interview that if you replaced the Crescent Bay's optics with any of the older developer kit ones, you would be able to make out the pixel structure. But the fresnel lenses used in the CB make it disappear somehow. I assume the consumer version will use the same or better.

They had the DK2.
Glad to hear they're working on fixing those black dots.
IIRC,the consumer version will also allow you to develop stuff with it just like the Dev Kits right?

They've said that in the past yes.
uhhh guys i think this is what the "in helmet view" is.
it's literally a screen in front of you with no optics

More CES! More 3Dhead! But really I thought the omni looked smaller in some other videos this thing is huge. Looks like it would be great with a tablet strapped to your face it even has good marketing there.
Inside one of the Oculus cubicles:

Same setup as last time, a mattress in the middle to make you feel the boundaries, and a standing experience demo.
Also, Samsung's CES keynote begins soon
Edit: Actually already happened an hour ago or so.
That was just a conference. The real keynote is in just under three hours.
What's the difference between the conference and the keynote?

Keynote countdown https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fl0r9Xpjg8k
I think they were getting all of their appliances out of the way in a separate conference.
BTW Do we have a CES 2015 thread anywhere?

CES Oculus Keynote?
It's Samsung right now.
Will there be a stream for an Oculus Keynote/Press conf. if they even have one?
[editline]5th January 2015[/editline]
Samsung right now: Connect everything with computers! Even wine cellars!
Wine is the future.
