They're trying to connect with the audience who would be dumb enough to back it. The Arial font and Windows Movie Maker transitions are familiar to them.
I've got a question, do games with first and third person work with the rift? Such as Fallout, Skyrim, etc?

You can use third party drivers, but don't expect a good experience until devs actually impliment stuff into their own games.
I don't have my hopes very high that many companies will take this seriously enough to spend the extra time to implement official VR. Take a game that would be perfect for this for example, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, no word at all about rift support for that.

After all the shit we get mad at big studios for doing incompetently, I can't trust that they will care at all about this.
We got our Oculus Rift last week and decided to whip up a Rift-version of our first game Qbeh. Works awesomely so far and it's been especially fun to play your own game with a new set of eyes, so to speak. :v:
For the best experience we recommend using an Xbox 360 controller. The controls can be found in the readme file.

Ordered mine the other day.
Order number is 056XXX, wonder how long I'll be waiting :S
I got to try the ocolus rift this weekend at a convention this weekend. It was awesome, the pixels were pretty visible though, although you only really noticed when you focused on that.
You can find the game they used here, it's called Volo Airsport.
When you flew close to the ground or past trees was awesome, but terrifying.
It's so cool that you actually feel stuff when using it, like you said, its terrifying flying past trees or the ground, and people saying they feel vertigo in Half Life 2 and saying the have to take breathers because shootouts are too intense.
Can't wait to get mine.
The kickstarter for the omni (omni directional treadmill):

I pledged $20, I don't have a lot of money right now.
Ordered my kit today. I'm really looking forward to using it for my final year project at uni (as well as playing Half-Life 2).

What are you thinking of doing for your final year project? I got a rift just for that reason. Ordered on Saturday!
You think we will get them in Augest or September?

I haven't decided on anything concrete just yet, but I'm really interested in researching how the different aspects of the Rift (head tracking, full FOV coverage, stereoscopic) could be combined to enhance standard gameplay features and introduce new ones in a first person game. I've got some neat ideas that I hope will pan out, but that's still a long way down the pipeline.
I would guess probably September or October, although I'll be happy as long as I get it before the end of the year.
I wonder how much the devkits could be auctioned for in 15 years, assuming VR becomes a big thing thanks to OR.

Shit, it started today and it's already nearly at TWICE the amount they wanted.

$5 like all other 15 year old computer parts on eBay?

Checked out the Omni kickstarter.
"We have not yet confirmed the future retail price, but it will be significantly higher than the Kickstarter rewards."
What does this mean?

It will cost over $399 when it's commercially available.

Oh, I see. That's not too bad.

If the idea's good, and the application of it works, anything can happen. And there's still 2 months left for them until the deadline.
With that much funding, what else could they do?
[editline]4th June 2013[/editline]
Also, how would you crouch? I imagine that there's some sort of spring that allows it?

Motion tracking? Aside from that, I don't imagine it would be too hard to stand still and bend your knees.
Hmm, I just realized that crouch-jumping will become impossible with the Omni. Oh well, I guess it's not a bad thing. Not very realistic.
Crouching involves bending your body over and not your legs
It's in the half life 2 video, a few seconds in

I feel like a simple half or quarter squat would be better.

No, he just gets nervous around girls.
That gun looks obnoxious. Hope they'll rule that out in the future.
That gun looks obnoxious. Hope they'll rule that out in the future.
In a video on the kickstarter page, he mentions that it doesn't have to be a gun, it's just an Xbox360 accessory they were using at the time.

@2:25
I was referring to the gun on the screen. It blocked his entire view.
