It seems Surgeon Simulator 2013 is getting Rift support. It'll be playable at Rezzed for all you British folk.
I've driven an actual racing car and the clutch was only needed when you switched from park to 1. After that you could just switch back and forth without ever touching the clutch, so after a while other foot on brake and other on gas comes naturally.
Yeah I guess I forgot high-end manuals sometimes don't need clutches.
i can safely say the oculus VR needs more nose space for big nose users such as myself
looking pretty good so far though
Imagine movies being made in 3D, where instead of one single camera angle you can choose your own camera angle and watch the movie the way you want. It will suck. It would be more like watching a 3d generated movie in the 3d editor itself.
I wish they would finally let me preorder the commercial version

for some reason every time I've put it on somebody's head, they mention there's a "huge gap" in the middle. I don't think they realize it's actually a nose notch
I just tried this demo out. Holy moly I am impressed.
In all honesty the only missing components is higher resolution and positional tracking and you've got the perfect VR headset.
Oh god aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Simply can't wait for this. Getting the consumer version as soon as I can.

Try the rollercoaster, it's pretty awesome.
Also do you get sick after a while? I get sick really fast, after even 10 minutes of Half-Life 2 :(
I never get motion sick or anything when not using VR, and my friend who barely plays games doesn't get sick at all, but he did start to sweat a fuckton while riding the rollercoaster.
Try not to let too much people try your Oculus Rift, the lenses get dirty really fast and the sweat is disgusting. Also keep in mind hair is always greasy so take caution when putting off your Oculus Rift.
I'm going to attend the http://intotherift.com/ event next week in Eindhoven (Netherlands). Anyone else going?
I missed this but I have a dev kit myself, can anyone tell me how it was?
I so want to buy a dev kit and start eenjoying all these things. But I don't plan to use it to develop anything. But the consumer version is so far away. But VR!
I sure hope they got something going on at Comic Con this year.

Looks awesome. By the way, I know they've got higher resolution under control but will the Consumer version have positional head tracking?

Isn't the dev version cheaper than what will be released?
Isn't the dev version cheaper than what will be released?
Maybe, but it probably would look nicer and have any of the updates they add on to the dev kit.
There's a post on the Oculus Reddit about Wicked Paradise, the VR porn game.
This guy makes a rather interesting prediction:

Combine this with the Novint Falcon fleshlight attachment and you'll win an award
Combine this with the Novint Falcon fleshlight attachment and you'll win an award
what.
Oculus has just received 16 million of funding, check the reddit for links etc, too clunky to link with my phone. VR is kicking off boys!

Someone with a dev kit should try out GTA IV with the First Person mod. See how that feels.

The intotherift.com was pretty great. Fun thing is they expected about 20 people. On the last day they got about 80 before they had to shut down the registration panel. It was pretty crowded :v:
Got to talk to a lot of VR fans and I got to brag about the fact I already had a dev kit. I talked to a company recruiter there about the possibility of an internship (in the new R&D group they're setting up) next year.

I got sick after 5 mins of HL2, but now I can go for about an hour or so.
I only wish I had a razer hydra or something because it feels really restrictive using a keyboard and mouse.
diving into HL2 right away and not limiting yourself will make you sick super fast. My friend wanted to jump straight into Ravenholm and wouldn't allow himself to get accustomed, so he was just running full force, whipping about, fighting stuff. Had to take it off after 5 minutes and didn't stop feeling motion sick for two days

New R&D team eh? Quick everybody, apply now!

I feel like this could be an easy way to induce vomiting

You really shouldn't force yourself in the beginning. By the time Half-Life 2's VR mode was released I already had a few hours in the Rift. I was easily able to play hour long sessions without feeling sick.

It'd be great if someone build a "VR beginner" game that slowly accustoms you to VR, by encouraging short sessions and trying different movement mechanics.
