Apparently they'd like to be able to give them away for free: http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/07/15/oculus-rift-team-want-to-release-consumer-version-of-the-headset-for-free/
Seriously though, I think my wallet is ready. I don't have much expenses currently so I should be able to get it on release. The only problem that comes to my mind, is that it will probably have a delayed release in Denmark. If it releases in Denmark at all.. Could be solved by ordering from the US, but then I'd have a warranty worth nothing at all. [editline]15th July 2013[/editline] Should I buy the Razer Hydra now and get used to it before gettcaning the rift?
You can get one on ebay for about half the regular sale price. I got one for $80 and it was unopened. As for getting used to it, they have like 5 default control modes for FPS and a gamepad mode. I played Surgeon Simulator last night with it and got an A++ on the double kidney transplant and aced the rest of the surgeries. Even though the second hand is a bit wonky, since it can't seem to do scalpel cuts.

I'm more excited to get my hands on the Oculus than any of the next-gen consoles, and besides that, my computer is nearing the end of its effective lifespan. Thing was a flippin' monster when I bought it, but after 5+ years of faithful service, it's really starting to show its age. Let me get the Oculus with a decent hardware bundle, and I'd be one happy camper.
I may just do this... my sleep's been terrible recently.
I've been wanting to give it a shot, but I just don't have an appropriate place to hang a hammock! I've always had a really difficult time sleeping. It generally takes me about an hour to fall asleep, and often closer to two, or even longer on especially bad nights! I usually don't get more than five hours of sleep a night, so at this point I'd be willing to try almost anything! Plus, a hammock just sounds very pleasant.
AaaAAaaa..etc getting official Rift support. http://owlchemylabs.com/aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-on-the-oculus-rift-_/
A little late on that one, it was announced by PCnews or Shacknews a while ago.
I'm just dying to hear some confirmation on Chivalry: Medieval Warfare support.
This has probably been posted, but if you haven't seen it already then this is a pretty darn cool video: No way in hell she imagined that she'd live to see something like this when she was our age. Watching these kinds of reactions makes it hard not to be excited for the future!
Fun fact: old people are less susceptible to simulation sickness. They get to enjoy their first Rift session more than we do :v:

Leap Motion combined with the Rift, he mounted it on the front of the headset and did some coding trickery and it follows your hands really well
Six days til the pre-order Leaps ship, hope I get mine quickly
Just got my rift delivered, been using it on and off for a few hours and surprisingly I didn't really get any sort of nausea or headaches, its been a pretty smooth ride so far
Six days til the pre-order Leaps ship, hope I get mine quickly
I personally don't see the leap controllers being useful for many gaming situations. Since your hands won't be able to use any buttons or joysticks to move characters or 'use' things in game. But for other situations it'd be nice, like Surgeon Simulator.
Leap Motion would be simply perfect if it could see from more than one angle. Right now all you need to do is rotate your hand and all fingers will be invisible to it.
Why is the leap on the rift? That forces him to have to be looking at his hands. Isn't it presumable that the hands will always be forward to your player direction?
I'm gonna spend a lot of time in 3d music visualizers when I finally get my consumer version.

There something I´ve worked on in the past in the Unreal Engine, I´ve just never really done anything else with it as I didn´t know what :v: I don't really know how to describe it so I'll just hand you a video instead. Here's a better view of the models and such I made, Don't mind the ultra shitty default skybox (Or my horrible texturing skills for that matter) Maybe this would be cool with the rift since I could think of heaps of things I could add. What do you guys think? Do you see yourself use something like this? (Obviously more refined then)
I want dwarf fortress with Oculus Rift support.
I want dwarf fortress with Oculus Rift support.
how would that work?
I was thinking to buy Oculus Rift. Should I wait for the final product?

Is it reactive to audio or (most likely) programmed to the song? It'd be a kickass visualizer like luck or loss mentioned he'd want I can only imagine someone getting really into a song or show in that setup, looking like a goofball from the outside
That'd be... weird. But definitely interesting, set it up as a MP server, call some friends, add in some NPCs, loud talking, music etc and motion controlled beer drinking :v: Also drink in real life to add to the experience.
What about a DJ deck on stage, and having songs from your pc as vinyls ingame, imagine scratching and mixing with the hydra or leap motion :v:
Some dudes working on a game. Being able to see other's head and hand movements is pretty cool. And boobs everywhere [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rs7EEYzZyCY[/hd]
