I've never been so sure to buy something at release like now with the rift.
For anyone who hasn't played the rift, the screen door is much more insignificant than people are making it out to be. I play the non-hd one and it was great, yeah theres a bit of an effect but it's so easy to look past and I could still read the hud fairly well on TF2.
Would definitely buy it as it is now, but HD will be fantastic.
Did anyone actually get the Oculus Rift hat in TF2? I didn't fund the kickstarter, I would have wanted to buy a pack where you get the Rift, but couldnt afford. Should just have donated a dollar.

Yeah, I think everyone who bought pre-January got a Steam code for the OR hat. It's pretty cool, lights up when you're in VR mode.
Also a reminder for all the new Rift owners, there's a really good OR mod for Minecraft (now with 1.6.2 support so it installs as a separate profile for super-easy launching):

They're probably gonna let everyone who buys a consumer versioon of the VR have a normal version of the hat, and genuine ones to people that supported the kickstarter/pre-ordered early.

Devkit 1 to Devkit 2 is a change from the current resolution to 1080p. I think the consumer version will have positional tracking as well as directional tracking.
