Amnesia, maybe?
That would be so horrifying. Imagine freaking out, and perhaps losing your lantern as your hands fly all crazy.
I've got a razer hydra myself, seems like this is what I've been waiting for :)
Worth buying?
Worth buying?
It's nice and precise, and it's quite cheap nowadays apparently.
So yes, worth buying. Quite fun to use in non enabled games too, although I can imagine there will be a lot more games with compatability from now, seeing as it's one of the few commercially available motion controllers for pc.
One of the issues is that there isn't really enough screen space on a regular screen to properly use it, so I'm really looking forwards to commercial rift versions.
[editline]30th March 2013[/editline]
Another reason as to why I'm not currently using it is that it uses config files for profiles and no GUI based profile editor, as well as the fact that my table is made mostly of iron and well you know, magnets.
[editline]30th March 2013[/editline]
If you've got a wooden table or plan on getting a wooden table, just buy one it's some good fun.
[editline]30th March 2013[/editline]
Besides, razer saved PC gaming, so why WOULDN'T you want one?

Ordered one. They have a special "VR sale" right now thanks to the Rift, so it's -50% off. Not gonna pass the offer.
Sixense Entertainment, Oculus VR and Razer bring true virtual gaming closer to reality. With the 3D display in the Oculus Rift headset and the Razer Hydra’s two-handed 3D controllers, these breakthrough technologies offer gamers a more immersive experience than has ever before been possible.

Does Hydra have latency issues? From videos it looks like the delay is quite large.
Can't wait to see what the community comes up with now that they're being sent out.
First person Rapelay
I was taking a shit while this idea came into my head. Someone needs to make a mountain climbing simulator that utilizes both the Rift and the Hydra. Being able to grab on ledges to pull yourself higher and higher, seeing your hands, combined with the immersion and feeling of vertigo and high places that the Rift can give you (don't look down!), would be fucking intense.
Does Hydra have latency issues? From videos it looks like the delay is quite large.
In the video the fact that the hands are physically simulated probably contributes to that
Posted the idea in the Rift thread on MTBS and this is what one dev responded.
Orkel, I'm actually working on a vertical treadmill with climbing holds exactly for that purpose.
Seems he's taking it a step further and going for a full "VR arcade" experience. Hope he can get it working.
In the video the fact that the hands are physically simulated probably contributes to that
he actually says this.
he says the hands are powered by forces, to play nice with physics
otherwise he could have had less latency on the hands but he needed to do that for this demo

THis guy's got a lot of direct feed occulus vids. Great demo if you want to try cross eyed 3d.
If I could one day play Morrowind with this I would be very very very happy.

I got a better one - Chivalry. With the Hydra.
My god, could you imagine how badass it would be to actually chop people down?
Chivalry. With the Hydra.
Mount & Blade. Because let's be honest: WASD as direction + RMB just isn't as great as actually parrying.

Omg yes
My worst fear with the Occulus has been averted, you aim with the mouse and look with the rift

that's exactly how I'd want to use the rift in an FPS
basically like a TrackIR, while you still use a keyboard and mouse to actually do shit
none of this waddling around bullshit holding a gun or anything
Who else thinks Battlefield 4 actually looks like a damn near perfect game for this?

Holy crap, this just made me want to get the Oculus even more now.
God dammit, this makes me excited. Can't wait til the consumer version rolls out. I don't care how expensive it is.
[sub]okay I might[/sub]

Blocking would be fucking intense
Interesting thought: Think this would create some unfair advantages in some FPS games? Unless they pull off some weird headbox wizardry, could one easily peek around a corner without really exposing themselves or was this debunked?

The oculus doesn't have position tracking. You can't see more than you do with a mouse.
the oculus will have position tracking (in the actual consumer release)
but I'm convinced it will only be used in games which support it like TrackIR (many types of simulators and ARMA), which implement in-game translational movement - leaning in ARMA and in something like Rise of Flight, moving around the cockpit
I wonder if in Team Fortress 2, the third person models will respond to the seperated head and weapon aiming?

Build a vertical treadmill that changes shape based on what you're going up.
Have it slowly lower so you'll never reach the top.
Seriously hoping that Tribes Ascend gets support for this.
Does anyone know of any Oculus Rift support for Amnesia: The Dark Descent?
man
the more I play with rise of flight, the more I need to see how it is like with a rift
like it would seriously blow your socks of
combine it with galvanic vestibular stimulation (alters your perception of acceleration, so in racing games, makes you feel the acceleration and can alter which way you think is up and down) ohhhhh boyyyy
[SUB]invest in playing in a wind tunnel with adjustable air pressure and temperature, have castor oil sprayers which spray into the wind stream and pay an italian man to scream things in your ears[/SUB][SUP][SUB]
