I wish more games would support the Rift by now. To be honest it's the last reason that's keeping me from buying the devkit 2.
"Your session has ended
We're sorry, but your session has ended. Your account hasn't been charged. Please go back to the merchant's site and check out again with PayPal."
And it wont let me order, sigh.
why are non developers ordering this?
Can't wait to play around with it.

Ordered by the thank you screen isn't coming up (it just shows the website banner). Also no email so... guess I'll wait a few minutes
Also I am a Software Developer so I don't feel bad
edit nevermind got the email
why are non developers ordering this?
I guess because they're too excited/impatient to wait, and it's virtually gonna be the same as CV1

If the DK2 isn't going to be any different from the CV1....hmmmm.
If the DK2 isn't going to be any different from the CV1....hmmmm.
They said CV1 will improve in all areas of DK2, including resolution (so it'll be higher than 1080p). The DK2 has all the features of the CV1 though so it's much better for dev purposes compared to the DK1.
It's much harder not to buy this one, but I'm going to remain chaste.
Just wait!
Us non-developers needs some self control and patient. I'd rather wait and get an improved rift than have to buy another one later on.
They expect to be shipping in July. Awesome.
Like I've said before, you can buy it, play around for a couple of months and then sell it and wait for the CV1.

Awesome, they fixed paypal, also my birthday is in july, hopeful for it to arrive near my birthday.
Oculus conference is up:

If you like me search for reasons to not buy devkit 2:
CV1 will have higher resolution (rumored 1440p versus 1080p).
DK2 runs in 75Hz, which is according to occulus themselves slightly too low to avoid flickering (85Hz is needed and CV1 will be 90Hz or higher).
DK2 is unacceptably heavy for regular consumers.
CV1 will have lower latency.
tbh it's dumb to get dk2 if you aren't going to develop
Some nice dev features of DK2: inbuild latency tester, and an extra on-headset USB port for accessories. There's an optional power supply in case the accessory (like a camera) requires extra power.

Those are super neat features.
and there's no longer an annoying control box!

Orky, I feel a thread title change is in order!
How long are they going to have to churn out those dev kits since half the world will order one.
[editline]edit[/editline]
It has a pentile screen, eugh.
Non-Oculus but still relevant news: Unreal Engine 4 business plan is a $19 month subscription and 5% royalties on gross sales. You'll get the complete source code via GitHub in exchange. Very attractive.

what's timewarp? I mean beyond the slide shown.
Q: "I'm interest in AR with the Rift. Have you thought about putting a camera on the unit?" A: "We've definitely experimented. It's not unreasonable to think that at some point we will be doing interesting things there, but we're not ready for any announcements."
My opinion (so I just don't have to go to in detail), the rift is not ideal for AR, castAR is a better choice, (right now the best choice), for AR and rift is best for a enclosed VR space.
You have one no latency between camera and screen with castAR and two your eyes are not focused to infinity or fixed which stereoscopic cameras are.
That said, the rift I can see can be the jaws version of a fatshark for FOV on RC crafts where more latency is expected.
Because I'm commenting about castAR, it's an educated guess but with DK1 and with DK2's IR-LEDs you could use castAR's tracker to track the headsets. By either strapping the tracker to DK1 and possible to walk around where LED constellations are or having the tacker be static and tack the DK2 headset.

Carmack magic.

From what I understand it's a method of polling the rotational tracker as late as possible in the game rendering pipeline. This way the time between rotating your head and seeing the effects on screen are minimized.
So, with the higher resolution the pixels will be even less noticable now?
So, with the higher resolution the pixels will be even less noticable now?
1 pixel in DK1 = 3½ pixels in DK2
1 pixel in DK1 = 3½ pixels in DK2
Sounds good.
I got to try out the rift DK2 here at GDC. I was zooming through space in EVE valkyrie and I didn't get motion sick at all. It was amazing.
