Starmade V3 - You cannot attach thrusters to planets.

Just logged into Perl's server...Look around and try and find my ship, then I just see this...

I don't even think I want to rebuild it. I might just scrap the lot and start a new ship. RIP Radiol....
Screw all that fanciness, they just need to make it so more generators = more power, as that makes more sense.
Actually, what's going to happen is that smaller ships can be charged at shops and space stations, while larger ones that use giant and more efficient generators like that will be forced to get fuel.
[editline]4th May 2013[/editline]
And what fuel will this monster be using?

I'll tell you. Planets.
Thank you, but it doesn't end there.

I haven't tested the turrets yet, but I am confident that by the time I have finished building this ship, based Schema has fixed the issue.
They realy need to get rid of that ugly hole decal for damaged blocks. It just doesn't fit. Most of those holes are from explosive damage and it realy doesn't fit the vast majority of blocks (lava? )
The only problem I have building a large ship now is finding stores who have enough hull-blocks...
The ability to construct an in-ship block manufacturing plant would be immensely helpful.
I'd like to walk around my ship while it's moving. It's a tiny little shuttle but still, have a reason that it's hollow.
I downloaded the game and tried to play it on single player, but it complained that something was blocking port 4242. Fixed the problem by changing to a random number, but did this happen to anyone else?
Also, for generators, does power generation vary linearly with volume, or polynomially, exponentially, logarithmically (hope not), etc.?

Based on bounding box size and the growth seems to be linear.

Power generation works weird. Total power value stored in a generator block goes on the volume of the block, but generation is determined by the biggest possible cube you could have made with the size it is in the three dimensions. Meaning that three lines of 10 in each direction generates as much as a 10x10x10 cube, but the cube stores a lot more. Back in the pages people had some genius ideas for really efficient power generators.
As it stands now, any aesthetically designed ship cannot, and will not, support cloaking. If your ship does not either have a massively efficient generator (which requires some damn good math and geometry knowledge) or seeds generators into the very hull of your ship, then it's literally impossible to support them.
Not so sure about jamming though, as it seems to use much less energy, but it's still insanely taxing on your regen.
Is Perl's server down for anyone else?

This much I gathered from reading already. My question was how power regen scales with volume, not with box dimension. Do five generators with identical volumes have more or less output than a single generator with five times as much volume?

The one with five times the amount has more regen. It's a very strange system.
Is slow turning normal with big ships or should I be adding more thrusters?

Ah, so that's why the "most efficient generator" a few pages back was a giant ring instead of clusters of spiral generators. Good to know.
Is slow turning normal with big ships or should I be adding more thrusters?
Normal.
Just got my ship that can fit itself inside of a 20x11x13 box have about 10 generators with each the volume of a 20x11x13 box.
It has 2mil regen. Damn, and it's a tiny ship.
I somehow got my ship merged with an asteroid, Having to build a harvester just to free it.

S-s-ship-san, don't! I-it won't fit..

See if it can cloak for a reasonable amount of time.
I love building harvesters for some reason. I find it a lot more satisfying to be able to mine an asteroid in a really short time, than just blowing it up
what's the deal with exiting ship cores?
i build a decent sized room around mine but it still teleports me outside the ship when I exit
See if it can cloak for a reasonable amount of time.
It can indefinitely cloak.

I almost never teleport outside mine.
Then again, all I ever build are titan-class ships with massive interiors.
I often tp out 700-800 meters away from my ship. They're not even small or anything.

The room size needed seems to vary by the mass of the ship - on my Titan, which is massive, I have a room about 8x8x8 wide for the ship core, and it never teleports me out. On my smaller Katana (about a third of the length and a tiny fraction of the mass of the Titan), I have a room 5x5x5 and it never teleports me out of the ship, though sometimes the spawn-stuck protection warps me to an adjacent room.
Anyone find out how ship data's stored?
This game is like playing with lego again, fuckin hell it's awesome
I just argued for about an hour with Bisarge about how he thought life started on mars and it somehow got to earth and that's how we got life.
Who what where huh

and then he pulls out the 'huehuehue i troll you' card
[editline]4th May 2013[/editline]
here's my recent gen ship as compensation for my bitching:

2.1mil regen on that sucker
So the ship that I was working on for 3+ hours suddenly disappeared from the spawn, so I went to spawn it from the catalog. It won't spawn, I have enough credits, but I can't spawn it. It just acts like I never clicked buy and exits out of the menu. Why the fuck is it doing this?
