Yeah, the new energy regen system has greatly diminishing returns, so the more blocks you have, the less each new one gives.
At this point shields are utterly useless and you just have to hope to build massive capacity bloc arrays.

It had maybe... 3 shots of it total, and it was kinda chillin in a nebula when something angry flew by and shot at it and then it just... disappeared. Disappeared really hard.
I don't remember too much of Enterprise except for T'pol's ass.

Well, it turns out all my titan class ships can no longer support even their thrusters in this new update.
What the shit, man. I specifically put enough thrusters on that ship so that it reaches max speed in a second.

Limited small-scale experimentation suggests that the newest changes makes the checkerboard pattern most efficient. Any grouping gives diminished effects.
And the overtly complicated power system just gets dumber and dumber. Shields were barely worth it before he made it crazy, let alone now.

Must've been very limited testing, because I did the 5x5x5 box test again and the checkerboard is still weak compared to volume-based gens.

I got about 8k regen from one 5x5x5 gen, volume-based.
The checkerboard in a 5x5x5 is 7k.
My space station has gone from 3Million regen to 0.85Million.
wow, i lost over three fourths of my regen.
i cant even power [B]one[/B] of my gun banks let alone my shields.
how does this new generator system work?

Now not only is it confusing to people who know what they're doing, but the general end-user is completely lost. It's like he's playing an elaborate joke.
This is the last way large ships should've been nerfed, I was really enjoying the generator arms race.

Thought the entire point of the alpha was to experiment. I'm shocked of why people react so negative to the changes to the game. "Shields are brokens, thanks schema." All Schema had to do was fix the balance between shields and antimatter cannons.

Ouch, my 200mil regen ship got cut down to 1.4mil.
With this fuckery, I think I'm gonna take a break from Starmade for a bit, seeing as I really can't be bothered to rework a bunch of ships that will still be pretty much easily destroyable despite their epic size.

All those changes have led to a much worse game though. Ideally, I'd like to think of this as the dark before the dawn, but I dunno.
Fuck, my ship is totally shit now. I can only fire my four AM cannons for about a second before the power runs out.

I do agree that the latest changes have gone downhill. However, it is in alpha state. He's experimenting, trying to discover new fun things or nice changes to the game. And as always, a lot of people think alpha = final product for some reason. So they flip out and rage because they think the game is ruined forever.
This is how reactor design will go now:
Players will keep intricately designing reactors, up until they reach the plateau in returns. Upon this point, all intricate reactor design is effectively pointless, and it becomes a game of "who has the most 10x10x10 stacks of power generators".
