Your Avatar is disturbing - I don't like you.
I love you too [editline]12th May 2013[/editline]
If you want that kind of stuff just play bloody KSP!
RCS is a real thing, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reaction_control_system. They are used to turn shuttles, which in this game could help the bigger ships turn faster.

There has to be a balance somewhere - letting big ships turn faster would make small ships even more fucking useless than they already are. No.
oh god why did they change the way power works. also is this game going to be difficult at some point? I killed a pirate and then sold 400 L5 ore for a bajillion monies

I killed a pirate and then sold 400 L5 ore for a bajillion monies
Difficulty isn't that important when you're not even at version 0.1 with your alpha Besides most of the fun (and testing) is in building ships and the obscene amount of money you can get right now allows that
I keep forgetting its in super alpha beta. still though i have no power ;_;
While it makes sense, I think the current navigational method (mouse aimed etcetera) is the best way to go about it. Corneroids mandated having thrusters all over your ship just to turn in a timely manner, not to mention rolling and the likes. It was a pain in the ass.
It doesn't need to be mandatory. Thrusters can still magically work in all directions, just give a boost to the direction they're heading so I can take off from a planet in a small ship by putting some on the bottom.

schema is literally hitler

If I'm reading what he's saying right (and my calculations are correct), all that's needed for a max reactor under that system is a contiguous set of 5070 blocks. This of course assumes that the base amount a reactor gives is 1 unit. Edit: I just realized he could be talking about power storage. If so then I guess you'll have plenty of reserve power :v:
Oh, the tears that flow in this thread.
could help the bigger ships turn faster
Yeah, I really don't think big ships are in need of something that makes them even better
RCS is a real thing, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reaction_control_system. What I'm saying is realistic things like RCS should stick to slightly more realistic games like KSP.

I mean the main reason my little Frigate always managed to beat my friend's battle ship is thanks to flanking.

Probably 100 km/h. I mean then a small frigate or corvette could actually be a credible threat to a large mothers hip.
And on that subject, I seriously think that there needs to be a higher speed limit for small ships. Probably 100 km/h. Like as it is right now it has problems if you zip through a few sectors. He's probably trying to make it more stable before upping the speed and how fast you can pass through multiple sectors. I think
How the hell do you dock turrets? I made the thing, extended the box to be bigger than the turret, made sure its green, then I shoot the ship with the docking laser and it says "can't dock here, target is not compatible"

I wasn't hitting the docking module, and I had blocks below the turret core. Thanks anyways.
Can anyone confirm that turrets are fixed? By that I mean if they don't shoot at your own ship?
Wow, generator-nerds are getting so upset. I honestly just love the art of making a neat ship. I don't want making my ship have decent regen be like solving a crazy death Sudoku game.
With this last update my ship can't even fire it's AM cannons, I have a ton of power storage blocks but only ~20000 capacity but I have 849k regen. It's a, uh, interesting mix.
Wow, generator-nerds are getting so upset. I honestly just love the art of making a neat ship. Are there any set size limitations for structures? Like, game-wrecking limitations past X number of blocks or something.
Are there any set size limitations for structures? Like, game-wrecking limitations past X number of blocks or something.
I haven't run into any real limits, but my ship is about 250 blocks long and it can't land on planets because the server flips out. [editline]14th May 2013[/editline] Confirmed that Steam Engine generator works fine (without modification, and loads of shields), just need some power tanks so the power bar can stop dancing
Huh. My session seems adverse to placing blocks in certain areas at certain times for no apparent reason. I can click all I want, but it won't put a block down. Any ideas? [editline]15th May 2013[/editline] Any my escape key seems to not work anymore. Odd.
Wow, generator-nerds are getting so upset. I honestly just love the art of making a neat ship. I don't want making my ship have decent regen be like solving a crazy death Sudoku game.
Wait, did he change the way you make gens again? Because as far as I know, unless you intend on making a ship larger than a planet, a volume-based generator is still the most efficient. And as far as I know, Schema has no plans to change that (which fucking sucks, IMO, I actually want cubes to be the most efficient. Building giant labyrinths just to get a decent regen is bullshit). [editline]15th May 2013[/editline] Nope, just checked, volume gens are still the most efficient. And guys, each generator has a volume cap, not the whole ship, so even past the 1mil mark volume gens are still the most efficient.
I like the idea that generators are (moderately) easy to use but hard to master.
I think it's just silly. I'd like to spend time building and designing ships rather than making the most efficient generator.
Please attempt to reach ten million regen with a volume based generator and post results.
10 million regen seems a bit excessive, I have only 800k regen and I can support 350k shields easily (plus weapons and thrust) [editline]15th May 2013[/editline] Granted my generator isn't done (most of my ship isn't really done)
