Aren't you able to use a first person perspective?
It says that it has both first and third person view :\
Yeah press V. (The large ship currently only has third person cockpit)
I made a cute little miner!

Too bad the drills don't do anything yet. UGHGHG
Screw the event horizon for now, made some random freight ship

Those random things at the ends of the ship aren't just there to look good, they're my shit engine protection, so that if someone wants to crash into it, the guard will take most of the damage instead of the engine
Just gonna wait for this a little longer. Some folks of my friendlist are already getting a tat bored with the game.
Multiplayer/weapons should change that.
Oh and if there a difference between buying it now and later? Their page said something about "All future updates free" or something among those lines, they said the same thing for Miner Wars but i thought they never really did anything else then providing free updates.
If they are already getting bored then they clearly do not understand the concept of Early Access or work in progress.
Don't fly into it.
Or add a gyroscope and thrusters to every side, then it won't spin or fly off into the distance.

Here's a video of me nearly cleaving a ship in half:
Once you have a ship in that state.... How the hell would you repair it
Can't wait for the sort of survival type mode with resources and actual work to build the stuff. That's when this game is really going to shine, especially once multiplayer is added
What I want to see are spinny bits, I want to have a giant spinning thing on my ship for artificial gravity
[editline]17th October 2013[/editline]
And docking clamps/claws, I want to make a ship that can grab your ship and slam it against an asteroid multiple times like a hammer
Can you imagine, eventually there will be ship graveyards in this game. Where past battles were held, with half destroyed ships and loot ripe for the picking.
This game has so much potential. I can already picture me flying around in a nice little trading vessel when suddenly a boarding ship spears me in the side causing us both to spin. Then I would have a firefight in the cramp hallways of the ship eventually they would fight their way to me and i would have no choice but to activate my self destruct sequence. I want this game.
Where do screenshots taken with F4 go?
no links in OP, cant find this anywhere on steam, people appear to be playing it, where am i going wrong :(

It was briefly on sale earlier today.

WIP bridge for my battleship
I made a puller, seeing as I haven't seen one yet. A mixture of the conversation in this thread and the insanity-inducing music of the game caused it to look vaguely Event Horizon-esque.
I also accidentally got the distance from the engine room just right from the gravity generator for it to have no gravity (beyond the glowing white panels), while the gyroscope and and cockpit are built into a crawlspace beneath the floor. It looked a lot more menacing in grey (and like a banana in yellow).

If it turns while accelerating it just about exceeds power capacity by .01% v:v:v
Has anyone build a mega ship yet? These screenshots are orgasmic.

They go to: c:\Users\{YOUR WINDOWS USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves\{Your Steam ID}\
Here's a crappy little ship I built. Putting all your engines backwards like a typical Sci-Fi ship doesn't get you anywhere but forwards. I'm a bit annoyed that you can't build fighters large enough to have interiors like in Star Citizen. Without fighter sized gravity generators, you can build a fighter with an interior, but you can't walk around it.
As far as I can tell, only gyroscopes affect your rotational speed. The thrusters that you have on the sides of ships are only used to strafe the ship and keep it going straight during turns. They don't affect how fast you can turn.

What kind of stupid bullshit is a 3 hour window for purchasing. I was all excited to come home and buy it. Just put it available for purchase, jesus tits.

I really hope they tweak the thruster model because, as it is now, it's a bit... Unrealistic. I don't want Garry's Mod styled thrusters, but some kind of compromise would be nice. Right now it's basically a hybrid of Star Made's and Gmod's thrusters. Also hoping for controller/joystick support of some kind. Piloting an enormous battleship with a mouse = century-long turns.
for those who have the game, is the ship's gravity alright or does it feel glitchy?

does anything feel glitchy?

Ship gravity works just fine and feels like walking around on a station. It gets hairy when you have multiple gravity generators in range of each other though. The effect of gravity is additive, so if you have two ships perpendicular to each other get close enough to each other the people inside will feel gravity at 45 degrees.
They've said that it's very possible the current system will change, but for now that was the simplest solution to get working and that's what they're using for at least the alpha.
You can read the entire blog about it here: http://blog.marekrosa.org/2013/09/artificial-gravity-in-space-engineers.html

For me if you have a disabled grav gen and you gyros are off and you go into a spin it just throws you in a corner and its really hard to move.
Also finished my first ship

Crash it and put it on video.
Okay so anyone else getting major artifacting? I've got polygons stretching across the map and all sorts of fun stuff and it's running horribly even at normal render settings if I use the easy start 2 map. Easy start 1 runs okay but I've still got artifacting, especially with asteroids. I'm on a Y500 with an i7 3630QM and a GT 750m
This game becomes ridiculously unresponsive and difficult to play with large vessels. The lag (~10 fps) would even be tolerable if it didn't sometimes outright refuse to consider input from my mouse and keyboard.
They made it available to buy for 3 hours?
Seriously?

It's pretty clear that the game isn't meant for stuff that's way huge, considering the setting is practically 2070.
It's pretty clear that the game isn't meant for stuff that's way huge, considering the setting is practically 2070.
It wasn't excessively large - maybe 1.5x the size of the red ship on easy start 2. Anyway, after a restart it ran smoothly but wouldn't let me add anymore parts, so I crashed it into the asteroid base and everything blinked out of existence - including me - and the camera froze.
The jetpack is so fucking slow! Seriously, it takes like 30 seconds to move from one end of my quite small large ship to the other. Also the game likes to crash quite often. But my main complaint is building large ships that look half decent is incredibly tedious. I gave up on any sort of style and just made a brick.

Wait, the alpha is out? Where can I get it?
My ships are slowly getting more elegant as time progresses. Here's a light dropship/gunship I made for fun.

e: beauty shot for anyone who cares
[t]http://i.imgur.com/VGZtZtw.jpg[/t]
Is there any way to speed up the jetpack? I can't build with it moving as slow as it does, it's just painful.
[editline]17th October 2013[/editline]
Alternately, is there any way to create more than a single row of blocks at once?
