But I'd agree that's probably OP in the long run. Just like how quickly the drill can dismantle a small ship. Still a lot of balancing left to do, for sure.
They should make engines either damage a player behind them are apply force to them so if someone does start chasing you with a drill can just point your ass at them and fire them away from you and send them spinning.
Havent been able to try the assault rifle yet, but I hope they add decent animations, as right now the 2 usable items feel very clunky, as if they were welded onto your suit.

This was the first (and so far only) Early Access game I've bought. So far it seems to have been a good decision. This rate of development is great.
The weapon wasn't meant to be in the game by the way.
But since people seem to enjoy it we will leave it in.

Hmm. I was just thinking. Will they add in creatures? outside of that, weapons and shit would have no use in single player. Actually, unless they flesh out the game a lot, single player is gonna be pretty boring...

As well, it'll be pretty much the only time and place you'll get to experiment with your ship designs because in multiplayer you're likely to not get the opportunity to do to much like that.
People often forget that this is an alpha.
Either that or just don't understand what it is.
They probably have considered adding in creatures, they've probably considered everything everyone has said and will say. You just have to be patient and wait, let them finish the game before judging it as a whole.

Probably because it runs so smoothly, I haven't had a single crash or frame drop during regular gameplay.
Megabuilds lag but that makes sense. This is more reliable than Starbound even though starbound is actually a beta not an alpha.

When I had to kill the process, it was sitting at 8 GBs of memory devoured.
So, played with motors for a bit. I feel like they're a little clunky. The worst thing is that the spinner sticks out too far and makes precision virtually impossible.
Also, the two separate spinning parts on a motor are treated as separate ships, and there's no remote keyboard control for the motors.
However, I have faith that all these things will be added eventually, so my complaints are entirely minor. I'm curious about how the devs got the level of precision that they did out of the doors in their demo video, though.
Now that landing gear aren't acting like ball sockets anymore, work resumed on my TIE hangar. I finally got the design down, so I just have to wrap it with something pretty.

My plan is to have four hangars total, with the last one being off on the left side, after the angled one (which is not easy to build, by the way). Though I may go with three but remove the dividing wall between the two that are finished, the front ones. It's still very early in its development so more aesthetic details will be added once the core structure is down.
Also, I feel like I've seen my design roughly in some way before, like in a movie or game or something but I can't put a name to it. I'm not basing it off anything, but I still feel like it looks like something I've seen before.

But I've got an entire new rig basically entirely built, with 32 GBs of memory in it and if I can save up a bit more money, I can go up to 64. I'm trying to run over other things I could add. At least conceptually, if not in actuality. One idea I had was, on the right side, a smaller hanger designed for fighter crafts. You can see how big one is in comparison to the little premade fighter. So it could be like 1/8th that length and height and still hold a fuckton of small ships.

This is a quick mock up of what I mean. And with the smaller fighters, you could anchor them to both the floor and ceiling, possibly even the walls.
