you see that is a legitimate good request.
Because you just want a new piece of lego to add to the box.
plus you know, weaponize dat shit

Since when do reactors explode so violently?
I'd at least want some kind of Solid-rocket-booster that I can attach to things. Just so escape pods can actually explode out of the bay and not just slowly putt their way to safety.
RCS blocks would be good too, so that when the booster is used up you can just push yourself in vaguely the right direction and wait
oh man I'm going to use that picture so much on the official forums.
When ever someone asks for a feature or object of convenience. For example when people ask they want an 'escape pod' then can spawn in. No you plebs, the entire point of the game is that you're supposed to make one out of the lego parts you get already.
Because, thats the game.
weaponized escape pods, quake 2 stylin
I hope that one day we'll see "no weapons" servers where you have to be clever like this in all aspects.
Been working on modifying all my ships to have somewhat same kind of style and color scheme. Now I just have to build the interiors for them.
I don't like this. The semi-rigid connection was fantastic. If you want a stable connection for those tie fighters you only need to add a second foot under the first one.
Yes, but that greatly increases the height required for the hangar, and because the fighter, bomber, and interceptor all have different tops and bottoms, a universal mount would be impossible. I spent 10 hours trying to puzzle it out before the gear were changed back with no success.
Not as many people seem to be translating the game to spanish anymore, could be because I complained about the credits on their forum.

fukken love me some borderless window
Well you can use this thing http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2675769
Works perfectly for me

I was using the copy-paste function to its full extent, aka I copied a reactor and threw it on ships :v:

I noticed that they exploded violently the first five minutes after I bought the game before the landing gears update. I was playing on easystart2 and when I crashed one of the default ships into the station and some of the reactors in there blew up and created perfect circular punctures.
I started tipping my torpedo's with small reactors because they can help completely remove 1 or 2 layers of armor but the downside is the torpedo's lose a lot of their kinetic energy after the initial explosion.
what about if you attach a penetration tip (corr blimey) on top of the reactor so that punches in before the reactor explodes when it hits the interior.

I know right.
I may have to steal some ideas and make a ship with spaced and layered amour.
Holy shit darth-veger can you ask developers is it possible to make station gibs to not be stationary (act like large ship blocks)?
Wait, so it's possible to make something like a HEAT round with reactors?
I gotta try this.
typical official forum suggestion post
Only way how detect enemy ships without give enemy your position is visual us of lasers, it work same like clasic reader in shop
then
Clasic Gentry [me] logic..... again...
I dont work like this... it will not show you direction where its coming from... or show me some device/theory you get your belief from... im prety sure you just didnt understand it...+ inever hear about laser creat radiation... ( its clear light ) and realy strong laser us chemicals but its still not radioactiv.
shitposting like that needs to be bannable everywhere.
its even worse than those threads where "coolman98" found the answer to a really rare hardware issue i'm having, and closed the answer to say he found the reason.
how does he englisc...
lasers are a chemical btw guys

i dont think thats how it works
Welp, been busy designing a mobile turret, turned out pretty awesome.
Here it is in flight mode...

...and deployed.

Now I just need to wait for an update that let's you copy ships with motor connections so I can spam it across my stations.

Wow and I'm just finding this out now?
Gentlemen, we have our bombs.
You know what to do.

Don't forget that you even can throw other ships into ships. :v:
Also

totally worth it
72 hours
that is more than I play most games
I wish motors had some sort of pilot-input control on them. I want mechs, god damn it.

With multiplayer, each limb could be its own vehicle, and you could use gyros and thrusters to control articulation.
Practical? Pfft not in the slightest, there'd be no cohesion between the limbs, it'd just flail.
Hilarious? Totally! HA! LOOK AT IT FLAIL!
If we're still willing to talk about the idea of space-wire, I still like the idea of a PLC that's not omnipotent. Any counter-argument I've seen basically attempts to refute that idea by saying that it ruins the game because they never actually took the time to learn how to use it to its full potential.
You guys say you hate when a game gets dumbed down, but you're encouraging it happening to a game that's still in the works.

not including a wire-mod isn't dumbing the game down
its just not autisting it up

"go wire mod or you're dumb"
really
How does one collect rocks without holding down T and doing it one by one?
building should stay as simple as possible, but let you do anything you want with it. that can be done just by having very simple systems, like the new configurable motors, and applying them in creative ways. wiremod goes against that, and would unnecessarily overcomplicate something that up until this point has just been a matter of using the parts you've been given.
the things you can build are already only limited by the amount of blocks and your own creative means of applying them. even now there's so many things you can do with the tools provided that a system of soulless arithmetic coding is unnecessary, superfluous, and above all, completely unfun, and not in any way in the spirit of engineering.
if you want Wiremod, go play Space Dull Arithmetic Problems instead. this isn't the game for it and it never will be.
Again, suggesting a code block-based visual programming system like Lego's Mindstorms SDK.
Because an I/O-centric automation system would be awesome, and not overpowered.
I see so much talk of "Oh, we shouldn't have Wiremod because it ruins the game", but does that mean we don't want buttons that can run commands, like locking down doors or decoupling landing gears? Do we want to do all those things manually, with no finer control? Do we not want drones that we can fly-by-wire to scout enemy ships?
Sure, something like E2 where you have to learn an entire scripting language that can hack the universe is a bit excessive, but there are a lot of features in Wiremod that could work really well in SE, especially for the purposes of actually running a functioning spaceship. It's not going to elevate it above space Lego, but even Lego had a programming interface.
