Uh oh, too late I learn the save function in this game is very dodgy.
In what way? As in the autosave comes on at inconvenient times, or it causes crashes or corruption?
What? No its not, its 8:41. Do you know what PST is?
My brain went retarded.
In what way? As in the autosave comes on at inconvenient times, or it causes crashes or corruption?
I thought the autosave saved into a different place to the manual save. Apparently not.
Luckily I could repair the damage to my ship. _/:v:\_
I don't know man, we're talking around two million tonnes of ship on ship action here
That sentence is bound to give someone an erection.
Contributed some things to the Finnish localisation, mainly small words; the rest is over my head.

"Demon, before you upgrade your computer: the limit is not imposed by your hardware but by how much memory the game can actually use.
Right now we set it somewhere to 800 Mb (if I am not mistaken).
BTW, we have tried this limit by copying tens or hundreds of ships... so you really had to make a big ship :-)"
So the memory limit problems are likely a bug rather than us hitting an actual limit.

Done
There really needs to be more debris on a collision. Everything is just gone within 3 seconds.

I had it saying memor limit reached right after loading up the save and starting to build, but it dissapeared after I waited a minute and alt tabbed.
[editline]18th October 2013[/editline]
also where can you contribute to localisation? I might help a bit with dutch stuff

There's something almost magical about taking out the power to a ship and watching the wreck drift away.

Devs have just opened up a change log section on their forums, so we'll now get precise details about what each update does.
[editline]18th October 2013[/editline]
Also the second early purchase period starts in roughly 20 minutes (assuming I haven't ballsed up the timezone conversion), and will last for 24 hours.
You can purchase the game now. Grabbed myself a copy

It is even more amazing to walk around on a part of a completely broken ship. I had to walk on the ceiling of the blue ship's engines once as the entire floor was gone.
I can imagine turning wrecks like that into ships real quick just to get away or to bring them to a salvaging vessel where the materials can be salvaged for new ships.
Is this game worth it
I was thinking of buying it then I saw the thrusters on one side picture
Translated 90 strings. Wooh.

I'm not getting it for 2 reasons, first i don't have money (:downs:) and secondly there isn't really that much to do.
But yeah, on the other hand why not buy it now, i mean multiplayer is coming along with a buttload of extra features.
Just for 15 dollars (10-11 euro if you are european and buy it from their store.)
New update, doesn't say when it goes live. Fixes a lot of CTDs.

Also gotten to building the central frame of my ship. I'm toying with the idea of having small fighters launch from the rear, to minimise vulnerability to weapons fire in the future. Also means I can stick the reverse thrusters on the side engines rather than e.g. on the front of the ship.
Is this game worth it

If you're happy to build ships and smash them into other ships, asteroids and stations on your lonesome; and help development by submitting bug reports for a little while as they continue to add features, then get it. If not, then wait a little while and they'll add MP, weapons, a survival mode and other stuff in short order.
A little thing i'm fiddling around with. I think i'll do it so that this part will be a combination of side engine and hangar, much like the Stargate ship Daedalus. That does mean i'll have to put reverse thrusters somewhere else or just have a ridiculous turn rate so I can use the rear thrusters to brake.

Thanks! I just bought it.

You should align your hangers and launch out the sides of the ship, broadside like, rather than like an aircraft carrier you see on the ocean. If a ship gets around behind you they can rip up the only launch capability you have in one swoop, whereas if you launch fighters broadside, it would take far more effort to cripple your capabilities. Besides, on a carrier type ship, any weapons you have are going to be broadsides since you aren't maneuverable
The more you know!
The problem with carrier type ships is that right now there's no way to "dock" a small ship with a large ship. You can't really land a ship and have it stick there as far as I know. Once the large ship moves, it doesn't take the small ship with it.
If you can and I'm completely wrong, please tell me how because that would be awesome.

However, for this one I could have the fighters launch out from the top and bottom. I'll have to see how it works out; this isn't at all planned, i'm just placing blocks down as they come out of my head. For my next ship after this i'm definitely doing fighter bays in the way you described.

I haven't picked this up yet as I'm waiting on my new motherboard, but I plan on doing something similar to the Battlestar Galactica's way of launching and landing ships, or maybe something like this
Since there's no need to remove your space suit ever. We need working elevators!
Just remember guys if your ship turns like asshole just put 5-6 gyros on it.
Does anyone know how to fix a overscan issue?
When in the game it is at my resbut it isn't using overscan so it fills the screen. So i got blackbars around my window.
Oh I know exactly what ship I'm gonna make.

oh yes
[editline]asd[/editline]
Well I'm still gonna make it even if someone else is!
Rude.

Do you have Nvidia or AMD
I wish there were 2x1 slopes that were paintable. How can I lovingly craft my tributes to Homeworld when there's only grey ramps available.
Halfway done with the engine design for the main section, just need to align the bottom half in the same way the top is.

I don't know what the shape itself is actually called :v:

Time to try once more at building bigger ships that dont look like absolute ass

Please build this and then shear a ship in two with it.
vacuum doesn't conduct heat.
Thrusters produce exhaust gas, which does conduct heat, as it's not a vacuum.
