Does it look better or worse than the older version?
amazing
you go to attack their turrets and they start flying into your turrets
[editline]16th December 2013[/editline]
i hope the final game gets some sort of blueprint mode where you can lay out a visual grid of blocks and when you try to build any block inside any blueprint space it is instead a block of an item in the blueprint
for making identical crafts without copy and paste

That's the best idea for identical/mass production craft making I've seen. I was trying to think of as to how they would do it but if they could make that work it'd be perfect.
Better yet if you could keep a list similar to adv. dupe with info about the blueprint.
yeah, I also was thinking about some kind of 3d printer for both large and small ships. It might be fun welding your entire ship together once, but it'll get really tedious if you have to do that for each copy of that ship.
How heavy is "one stack"?
however heavy one stack of the stuff out of the generator in the default red ships are. I think it was 1.7 million but I may be remembering wrong.

I had suggested that idea a few days after initial release on the forums and it didn't seem very popular :c

It's like a boss from Raiden. You shoot the main hull apart and it splits into five more bosses.
I love the double-motor design for turret maneuverability.
With the second motor update bringing in entity settings, I hope to see gravity generators get a strength and distance slider.
What if they were the same slider? More strength affecting a smaller area. You'd want high strength generators for rail guns, and wouldn't want those generators affecting the gravity over the whole ship. You also wouldn't want players flying their ships with ridiculous gravity levels around other ships to troll them, so the limited distance would help that.
Meanwhile, smaller strength generators would affect large areas, allowing for minimal interference with other ships.
Having these two settings be the same slider on this inverse relationship would also let the generators make sense to use up equal amounts of energy from the reactors.
[editline]15th December 2013[/editline]
Motors have more settings, allowing for neat contraptions.
that's actually a pretty good idea. That way we could make more efficient rail guns and not have to worry about how much its affecting the rest of our ship.
I've finally, finally finished annotating the schematic of the Victory-I Class star destroyer. Now, work can begin in earnest.

Sorry to bring up the 'wire argument' again, but adding some kind of wiring system doesn't mean that you'd have to build everything from gates yourself - an ingame store or something could sell you both ready-to-use control systems or the parts needed to build them. That way, everyone has access to autoturrets/ship control/autopilot/whatever regardless of if they're some sort of electronics supergenius or not.
Here is a visual representation on how much stuff there is to put inside ships right now:

I hope they add a patch soon with more internal systems and furniture for crew quarters, mess hall and other areas on the ship.
I hope we get furniture which we can just put anywhere we wish instead of being locked to a grid. Otherwise you'd have to have huge tables and chairs or premade chair+table models which is kinda odd.
well I'm not entirely sure they're going to add cosmetic stuff considering they said they're only going to include things that have an actual 'function'.

If the devs don't add it in then modders will probably add them in considering people have already been able to add new blocks and static objects into the game.

is that a gyro on your "bullet"? why would you need that?

Stops it from rotating in flight. They're also 5x heavier than a regular block.

Late, I know, but what the fuck? He didn't buy a forum membership, he bought a game. If he gets a refund, it should be a refund of every penny he spent to join the "community". $0.00.

Can you explain how it actually launches that projectile? I thought gravity-based rail guns only worked on items the player drops that are subject to gravity.

he put rocks inside of the shell
I hope there's eventually a way to define things as susceptible to gravity fields or not, since sticking a bunch of asteroids into a cage to get a functional bullet is sort of a pain in the arse.

Using ships as projectiles is kinda silly anyway. However, launching ships with some sort of carrier style catapult system shouldn't be out of the question. Perhaps there will be rails that landing gear will be able to snap to for launches and landing.
[editline]16th December 2013[/editline]
While I'm on it, rails for hanger organization would be awesome, too. So you would have the launch/landing rails and transport rails.
