Am I the only one seeing weird new copy/paste behavior? It's not smooth anymore, it tries to bind whatever you're pasting to the global grid. Basically it completely broke your ability to use copy/paste to accurately throw objects at other objects.
I just got this game and it seems really awesome, but I have a question. Is there a way to tighten up the jetpack controls a little bit? I realise it's realistic for them to be somewhat floaty, but I'm finding it quite a hindrance to building. Is this just something you get used to after a while, or am I missing some special creative mode controls that let me fly around with more speed and precision? I saw some videos that looked like they were less floaty, but I'm not sure if that was an older version of the game or something.
Hate to be that guy, but anyone got anything to this end? I'm getting a bit more used to the controls, but I still think I'd prefer something a bit more... well, Garry's Mod-esque I guess. I dunno, maybe I'm just complaining where I shouldn't be. :v:

The warheads should only DESTROY a tiny amount of blocks, pushing and bending a fair amount more. That way armor that isn't 7 blocks thick isn't entirely worthless. Looks to be a serious WIP, or at least I hope it is.
Yeah, if they did that, you'd probably be able to make reliable gunpowder bullets, complete with recoil-operated systems.

They definitely need a nerf unless they're nuclear or something.
I think these warheads are the most powerful explosive weapon in the game. It makes sense that they are this strong. There will be smaller explosives available in the future for sure.
Ok, this is the damage done by the two shells that made it out, both hitting exactly the same spot and each had a single small warhead But I just discovered something much, much better... This is the effect of a single, completely regular kinetic round impacting inside the gravity field. I think this is caused by cascading debris.
The solution is clear. Attach gravity generators to your torpedos.
atleast make the warheads less volatile, there aren't even that volatile in real life, one misplaced bullet in the torpedo bay and no more ship.
atleast make the warheads less volatile, there aren't even that volatile in real life, one misplaced bullet in the torpedo bay and no more ship.
The solution to that is being able to arm them.
The solution is clear. Attach gravity generators to your torpedos.
Shrapnel Torps!
It's to help with pasting stations
Can it be shut off? Because I can't stand it.
The solution is clear. Attach gravity generators to your torpedos.
wow. from the addition of rocks, we built fucking shotgun space missiles. now we are all sons of bitches.
The solution is clear. Attach gravity generators to your torpedos.
I was just about to suggest that very thing, it seems so obvious now. [editline]19th December 2013[/editline] Jesus, gravity torps.
But none of that stops it being fun to speculate how it could work. :)
Fair enough, if it's just speculation for the fun of speculation, then knock yourself out :) I guess I've seen people get into heated debates over stupid shit like whether or not the phaser beams in star trek would be visible from the side or not too much haha
Guys, think about the bombs in a multiplayer environment, they're one time use, unguided and chances are they wont hit shit if the enemy ship is moving so the only sure way to hit is with kamikaze strikes and in survival mode I don't think you'll want to die. So they should be really rewarding when they do hit.

You have to predict your target, and hope it hits them or at least goes off before they leave the AOE. If you miss, it could mean the loss of a battle, or space, or even your own death. So yeah, thinking about it, they're probably pretty balanced as is.
Whether their power is balanced or not, although I find they are OBSCENELY overpowered, is entirely irrelevant. They're just poorly implemented. They don't even bother working with the preexisting destruction engine. They just explode, instantly annihilating blocks like antimatter reactions sans energy. That's an ugly, stupid, wasteful misuse of potential. Alpha WIP, I hope.
Alpha WIP, I hope.
Like absolutely everything else in the game, man.
Like absolutely everything else in the game, man.
I am adressing those that find that they are of quality balance. It's an alpha. No shit everything else in the game is an alpha WIP.
Nice addition, should use squeegy's suggestion that it shouldn't just carve a large sphere, it should be chaotical.
Explosives should break up objects, not annihilate them. There's a number of ways this could be done, I think the best looking of which would be to turn all the blocks that intersect with the sphere of 'explosion' into their own separate vessels, crumple everything, and then throw them away from the explosion (and into nearby objects). I too want something like noclip, when there's little to no inertia when you let go of the move key. [editline]19th December 2013[/editline] Wait is the update even out? I don't have grid-snapping (speaking of this holy shit make it toggleable please fuck no no no) nor bombs
EDIT: Update 01.011.007 Fixes - fixed building issue - fixed copy/paste snapping issue
Oh wait what
I have to ask, where does everyone get their inspiration for ship designs? I just got this game, and I can't make anything look pretty; everything looks like a bland block with thrusters.

This site is a good place to start, but some may prove hard to replicate in SE with it's 1x1 slopes (1x2 if you count the uncolourable ramp and stairs) http://conceptships.blogspot.fi/
