How to select block size?
How to select block size?
You can't, you can only place small blocks on other small blocks, and big ones on big ships/stations.
The perils of playing an alpha: The new build buggered save compatibility for me, so now if I try to build anything on to my ship it completely disintegrates.
I need to make a flying boat with thrusters.
vacuum doesn't conduct heat.
Heat still radiates off though, in case of engines, a lot of heat will radiate off
This game needs a mirror function for symmetrical ships... Aside from that it's pretty fantastic.

I suppose it's a good thing I so compulsively take pictures of my ships, means I can rebuild them fairly easily.
Anyways, got further with the big thing.

Probably going to stick some more reactors into the back of the main section. If at some point the devs change things so that one requires cable blocks of some kind to connect heavy equipment to reactors, I can use the little corridor for that.
Gave a big ship enough dickings, took 2 good big rams, and 1 small ram, finally opened her up.
Do you have Nvidia or AMD
AMD
I think this is the design for smaller ships I'll settle on, time to actually move onto big ones

It'd be vulnerable to gattling gun fire I guess, but its simply too fast to be able to possibly hit
You're not really one for making good looking ships are you?
Every time I try to feature form over function it ends up being an immovable 100 ton hunk of metal :v:

My latest battleship after an accidental battle with the red ship, piloted from the auxiliary control center in engineering. Surprisingly, it still flies and maneuvers relatively well for a twisted hunk of metal missing well over 80% of its original mass.

Make this then.

No, Vogon ships instead.

Finished duplicating the side engine. Now it's time to construct forwards. Still haven't decided on an interior yet.
Every time I try to feature form over function it ends up being an immovable 100 ton hunk of metal :v:
The solution is always more thrusters, gyroscopes and reactors :v:
every time I make a nice looking small ship, it instantly looks ugly as fuck when I have to add thrusters and reactors everywhere. kind of annoying.
every time I make a nice looking small ship, it instantly looks ugly as fuck when I have to add thrusters and reactors everywhere. kind of annoying.
Way I build is to place the thrusters first and build around them. Think about what kind of engine profile you want e.g. starship Enterprise-style engine nacelles, Destiny-style strip of engines all along the back, a mixture of both etc.
I have a problem. When I start Space Engineers, my monitor goes 'Out of Range - Use 1920x1080 60hz'.
I am using a HP 2711x 27" monitor with a nVidia GTX590 if that helps -- anyone have any ideas or have come across it?
Oh I know exactly what ship I'm gonna make.

oh yes
[editline]asd[/editline]
Well I'm still gonna make it even if someone else is!
Rude.
I started to work on one, but I'm shit at scaling things.

Does that for me as well, but it still displays the image just all jittery and whatever the fuck thats called. I have to turn down the res to play it.
So, the devs of this are the miners wars guys, who were supposed to be making an MMO for that. They are holding peoples pre-order money for it because while development is "stopped" one day they may develop it. Thats extremely disconcerting, and definitely not OK. these guys also dabbled in some bait and switch with the miner wars singleplayer.
Additionally, the features page for this game says they refuse to elaborate on any of the long term plans for the game. Not sure i want to buy into it, alpha games typically ask for a purchase in return for promises. If they're not gonna make any... well... Not that i've ever been one to split hairs over less than optimal development practices.

Ok, I fixed it by running it in Windows XP SP3 compatability mode.
Okay, now how do I color things?

Not heard about the refund thing, though; you could probably ask them on the forums about it.

I will just wait and let you guys betatest/jizz about the awesomeness of it actually delivering/grief because of the promised but not delivered features.
Okay, now how do I color things?
[ and ] to change colour, middle mouse button to paint a paintable block with it (only the armour blocks can be coloured at the moment).
Speaking of painting, it should be per-face rather than per-block. As the large ship blocks are so huge and unwieldy, the same block is often both the outside and inside wall.

It's a gunship of some kind, it's slow but powerful
why not add more thrusters in the back-mid

Crap, doesn't work for me :v:
