You know what would be cool? Different space suits. Like different clans have armored suits or pirate suits or normal people have the default suit. Some armored suits might have different weapons (gatling gun or missile launcher?). Customization on the suit would be cool. But you know, I am being too optimistic and shouldn't expect things like these.
it would be cool if you could put artwork on your suit like in Protector by Larry Niven [thumb]http://www.projectrho.com/public_html/rocket/images/spacesuits/protectorDetail.jpg[/thumb]
So I made a new torpedo using the warheads [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/504699900891309547/92541D406637DB54C5D004C1492FBEE7D8116B40/[/t] And then I tested it out on my cargo ship [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/504699900891312651/ACFB2DE06562269BF3484D58D65126FFA2884ACC/[/t] [t]http://cloud-3.steampowered.com/ugc/504699900891313759/4326179EEAA599A7C8AE793C7C21291C11E141EA/[/t] [t]http://cloud-3.steampowered.com/ugc/504699900892891098/8764780D92D74D05D81C53281166D6ADD3BC421A/[/t] [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/504699900891307214/9E03A7F838814DFFF2BC93E1B03E20695AC250D7/[/t] The explosion was very anti-climatic.
Most dents from explosives are caused by the shockwave. There's no atmosphere in space so their is no shockwave with a contact explosive.
Most dents from explosives are caused by the shockwave. There's no atmosphere in space so their is no shockwave with a contact explosive.
impulsive shock still happens from the explosion i.e the rapid change in heat on the surface of the ship causes a shockwave effect
impulsive shock still happens from the explosion i.e the rapid change in heat on the surface of the ship causes a shockwave effect
exactly why I said most instead of all.
you said there is no shockwave, but there still is even in a vacuum even space lasers cause shockwaves upon impact
A large release of energy of any kind will produce waves of heat, which can act as pseudo-shockwaves in many cases. Depending on what kind of weapon you're using, it can also produce other types of waves that can act just like what we see in-game, so this is all very feasible. Why the fuck is anyone complaining anyway, it's a video game.
Not to mention third person lets people see you coming. Unless you were to somehow guess where the pilot was looking, where his blindspots were at that moment and how you could get into some sort of alcove without ever being seen.
hide under asteroid and come up when their ship passes by, then plant all the bombs under it the ultimate space predator
hide under asteroid and come up when their ship passes by, then plant all the bombs under it the ultimate space predator
Why not make a ship consisting of a bomb attached to a manoeuvrable cockpit. Connect the two with a landing clamp and attach the bomb to the target ship with a clamp, disconnect from bomb and fly off then detonate from a distance.
I think when MP will arrive it should be like Blockland's build trust system - all players by default cannot build/delete stuff on other people's builds(only damage and destroy) but owner of the build can allow certain players to build on or modify the build.
Why the fuck is anyone complaining anyway, it's a video game.
Because, Kane, in this video game, we have a set of elements to our scenario that can exist in reality. It's in space. It's in a vacuum. We're working with high power weapons. You can't draw direct parallels from explosives on earth to explosions in space. Why should we falsely simplify our video game because it's a video game. Your offhand comment here would make sense if we were asking for molecule or real heat simulations, technical issues, but that is not what we're addressing here. [editline]22nd December 2013[/editline] Also for fuck sakes people: THIS IS A PSA: TALKING ABOUT THE VIDEO GAME, ASKING FOR CHANGES, QUESTIONING THINGS, ETC, DO NOT FALL UNDER THE CATEGORY OF "COMPLAINING".

Maybe, y'know, we should talk about things that could help improve the experience of the game overall like Multiplayer or more ship pieces or things like that rather than pretending to be physics buffs and mocking the game for it's lack of a 'realistic simulation' when it's basically Minecraft in space. When I said that comment, it wasn't because I was disallowing you to complain, I was questioning the usefulness of the complaints. What would any of that accomplish by removing shockwaves from the game? Why? Who cares? That's what I was asking, because I'm pretty sure it's all arbitrary. edit: also, the word 'complaining' can be used in the same sense as discussion of topics you're displeased with. once again it's arbitrary; who cares what words we use. Too bad the layout looks shit, I mean seriously, I can't tell the text from part of the background.

how can I make my small ship carrying large ship blocks more stable? right now it's impossible to control [editline]23rd December 2013[/editline] more thrusters or more gyroscopes?
how can I make my small ship carrying large ship blocks more stable? right now it's impossible to control [editline]23rd December 2013[/editline] more thrusters or more gyroscopes?
it seems that you have to anchor the large blocks at your center of gravity to prevent spinning.
it seems that you have to anchor the large blocks at your center of gravity to prevent spinning.
oh, that's kinda disappointing. gonna have to make my little ship a lot bigger now to be able to do what I want properly
how can I make my small ship carrying large ship blocks more stable? right now it's impossible to control [editline]23rd December 2013[/editline] more thrusters or more gyroscopes?
Try anchoring it closer to your center of gravity or in-line with it. You don't really have to put it directly in the middle of your ship, but in-line with it atleast. You could probably add more gyroscopes so you can control your ship better when hauling, but it'd be more manual effort.
So you think stuff should only really be in the game if it's believable?
because i think one thing could be more believable means that's how i think the entire game should be. mhmm. believable often equates to logical, so yes, games often benefit from being logical. but they also benefit from being more fun, so that's why i generally always offer a midground between realistic and gamey, and I believe that neither side is universally better than the other. but apparently if ForgottenKane says that I criticize the game for each unrealistic bit, that means I do, so everyone can carry on thinking that I think whatever they want.
Redditor managed to find the model of the large drill Looks badass
you probably would hate most games then.
legendary. it's almost like you didn't even read the post.
woah woah, guys calm down, would engineers fight like this? no, they would work together to create something together! this is not what space engineers is about! make space engineers not arguments!
forget i even said anything.
woah woah, guys calm down, would engineers fight like this? no, they would work together to create something together! this is not what space engineers is about! make space engineers not arguments!
Nah, i'm fairly sure they'd weaponize everything, then fling all of it at each other until the loser gets flung into deep space by explosives.
forget i even said anything.
with pleasure
Nah, i'm fairly sure they'd weaponize everything, then fling all of it at each other until the loser gets flung into deep space by explosives.
You know what we haven't weaponized yet? Beacons and ore detectors. Get on it wizkids.
What would happen if you made a small ship in a line, and have engines at the back, few armor blocks, generator, then warhead, few more armor blocks then cockpit, attach it to another ship with the engines on and release it at another ship, would it work like a bunker buster? i.e. cockpit hits the ship, hopefully penetrates a bit and the warhead explodes inside the other ship?
