No idea what that means tbh, nor why they did it, all I know is it's why bad things happen past 50km :v:
Your PC will have a hard time rounding fuckhuge numbers, resulting in it being slightly different every time, thus the "warping" (the objects are drawn moving because their coords are changing). Do not get me started on physics. There are ways to solve this, the obvious one is to making the player the center, so you'll never see any warping because it's so far away. Not for MP tho.
Zukriuchen in addition to putting the cockpit in the centre i think you should tilt the wings down [t]http://files.1337upload.net/zukship.jpg[/t] kinda like this, but in a way that looks good in-game
If you moved the cockpit down into the centre of that it would look pretty sweet.
well that did turn out a lot better than i expected alternatively:
I just thought of two things that could potentially be pretty useful features. - Spaceship factory, automatically builds designs with mined resources (so you could mass produce similar looking ships in survival without having to painstakingly rebuild it every time) -The ability to weld together copy pasted parts.

You should also try and cover up those thrusters if its a fighter so they have some protection from weapons fire. like this (albeit thats one of my freighter designs but it's still logical)
that's a smexy freighter

Just started on a new project. I'm loving how massive it is. [t]http://i.imgur.com/h9aciHw.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/rQlOmuj.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/ZW0Ayx3.jpg[/t] It moves, very fast actually, but the problem is that once I start turning it never stops. There seems to be a huge bug with gyroscopes on very large ships.

I suppose I could gut the small rooms or refineries and fit more.
Its a bulk ore freighter. Who the fuck is going to not only steal loads of unrefined ore but have the space to hold aforementioned ore and escape in a timely fashion?
Working out the logistics of space piracy is already my favorite part of this game.
Im not saying it doesnt have its place, just noting mine should probably be used for more valuable things. I have quite a few ships that are built like a frame around their unarmored components. Everything has its own purpose.
TBH the best way to protect valuable assets is with extremely fast courier ships. Using a big armored freighter to haul valuable assets is a bad idea unless you can get escorts for it. [editline]24th December 2013[/editline] which would be like saying "Hey we have something big and valuable!"
Its heavily armored, but medium sized and quite fast for its weight. Its also not really the kind of ship someone sees and thinks "That must be a freighter" It would also work well as a heavy pirate ship. Not the type that rob ships, but more like robbing stations. I can modify it to fit any issues that space piracy develops.

Come to think of it, if they make conveyors work and add docking ports for transfering materials, I could pretty easily turn your bridge into a crater, then latch on and connect to a container, suck out a good amount of the ore, then run it through the onboard refineries while I fly away. [editline]24th December 2013[/editline] Not trying to be a dick just thinking like a pirate

[editline]24th December 2013[/editline] A real space combat ship that works the best is quite simply a long cylinder with a torpedo tube in the middle. The more of your profile you expose the more likely a hit will be. [editline]24th December 2013[/editline] I just thought of an weapon that could destroy a ship following you. Accelerate to 50 or 60 m/s and turn off inertial dampeners to maintain your speed. Release torpedo from your back and continue acceleration. If the craft continues to follow you it will get smashed by the torpedo. If it has to maneuver away then it gives you more time to accelerate safely away.
Well played I tried to figure out a way to lay down minefields without slowing down, but I couldnt get it to work.
individual warheads on landing gears on the back of the ship? as of now no way to automate that but you could make a decent field like that I imagine just drop as you go by
I've been thinking about what kind of combat ship would be best, and I've come to the (very obvious) conclusion that it totally depends on who you're going up against Like, if you have a small, fighter jet-like ship, and you're gonna try to fight a huge ship with more firepower but less maneuverability, you're probably better off sticking lots of thrusters to the sides, as you'll want to dodge stuff while facing the enemy ship and doing as much damage as you can. However, if you were fighting other small ships like yours, you'd probably want to have lots of thrusters on the back of your ship, as well as a shitload of gyros, so it'd be easy to outrun the enemy then turn around and fight them off
have they said anything about MP yet
I must reiterate that swords are the way to go because the game doesn't limit rotational speed.

no. launch the torp and accelerate forward so it smashes someone behind you.
Just checked. A torpedo with inertia dampeners would do the trick. Slows down much faster and you can use it when traveling at full speed.
Well played I tried to figure out a way to lay down minefields without slowing down, but I couldnt get it to work.
Have a ship that looks like this m x x XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX x x M Release the mines at high rotation and they should fling off in a dispersal pattern.
suddenly you make me want to build a ship that rotates really fast with tons of warheads with engines and reactors to slow down attach to the ship via landing clamps then you can release, get more mines, go to a new area, release more and make a minefield easily.
