It might get raped by a single Gatling gun. That said it's a nice design and neat use of components.
mine does actually run on max resolution and fullscreen but everything goes really weird as refresh rates start fucking up shit between my game and screen.
How will you know if it's powerful until guns get enabled or we have multiplayer? It might get raped by a single Gatling gun. That said it's a nice design and neat use of components.
I made that one purely for design purposes, so yeah
So, the devs of this are the miners wars guys, who were supposed to be making an MMO for that. They are holding peoples pre-order money for it because while development is "stopped" one day they may develop it. Thats extremely disconcerting, and definitely not OK. these guys also dabbled in some bait and switch with the miner wars singleplayer. Additionally, the features page for this game says they refuse to elaborate on any of the long term plans for the game. Not sure i want to buy into it, alpha games typically ask for a purchase in return for promises. If they're not gonna make any... well... Not that i've ever been one to split hairs over less than optimal development practices.
Still probably better than the less than optimal development practices oyu're referring to. And still better than WarZ by miles.
The MMO is on hold until Space Engineers is done, since all the engine additions done in the course of Space Engineers' development will be used in it. Not heard about the refund thing, though; you could probably ask them on the forums about it.
Its in one of their FAQs that they won't refund preorders, thats why i mentioned it. They seem really shady, and maybe the improvements to the current space engineers will be more limited that some would expect, especially considering they say they won't share any long term goals for the game. the way i see it, they are either intentionally screwing over the miner wars MMO buyers and plan to go all the way with space engineers, or are trying to squeeze money out of the space engineer trailers to abandon it when they get funds and go onto the MMO. Either way its not a good situation. The physics are awesome and may be worth the 15$ to some people, but others are gonna buy in expecting a finished game at some point and might get let down. There are much worse things a dev could do of course as mentioned with the *cough* and warz and etc. Just something to keep in mind.
just add multiplayer and honestly the game will play itself
just add multiplayer and honestly the game will play itself
Also waiting for Survival mode, so me and my friend could work together to search for resources and all that. Anything said about enemy AI?
Gravity should be contained within a ship like atmosphere, and become really weak near vacuum before dropping off entirely if there's no parts within like 5 meters of you and you aren't "inside". And small ships should be affected by large ships' gravity
You're not really one for making good looking ships are you?
Hahaha you should see my friend Unit-05's ACF tanks in GMOD. People hate his designs so much because they're ugly as fuck but totally badass and unstoppable.
So, the devs of this are the miners wars guys, who were supposed to be making an MMO for that. Not that i've ever been one to split hairs over less than optimal development practices.
That's why I haven't bought in. I want to see multiplayer survival gameplay or I'm not interested. Did the same thing with Minecraft honestly: waited until working survival MP was in the game, despite the intense pressure from friends. I have been burned by games far too many times now to believe the hype anymore. Example: Peter Molyneux said Black & White 2 would have multiplayer if enough people bought it. I laughed and never even played it, because fuck Molyneux. I remember so many people being surprised that he had lied through his teeth about Fable, and then those same people being surprised AGAIN that he had lied about Fable 2. How many times do you have to get fucked by the same guy? Then he released that stupid Curiosity game and everyone was sniffing his asshole again... the bullshit comes out of his mouth people, not his asshole. Anyway, all that to say that I've been gaming a long time, and I remember a time companies didn't lie to you. Instead, they released demos and let you see for yourself.
The explanation kind of makes sense - with Space Engineers being a model for the gameplay features they're going to implement in their bigger picture, the Miner Wars MMO (which I really don't care about and am not interested in), since they're on the same engine (?). As they develop the features, they implement them into Space Engineers. This allows active feedback and testing in a game environment (where the features are actually being put to use and not abused in hopes of finding a bug) from a pool of players. This is further backed in my mind by the fact that the pre-release was initially only through the Miner Wars website. I guess it could be an elaborate scam - but these kinds of games are not simple to make and I'd be surprised to see it dropped after the amount of work they've put into it already, even to take the money and run so to speak. [editline]19th October 2013[/editline] Also, with it being on Steam, Valve is likely to issue refunds if the game goes vaporware (or ends up being flat-out awful by some horrific twist of fate).
My 15-Minute Adventure With An Asteroid, And Afterward Strange watery stuff in this corner of an asteroid within the survival world. From spawn, the same asteroid can be seen in the distance with a visible portion stained brown. Ore I guess? Another portion of the same asteroid showing some funny lumps and a hole. Entering the hole reveals an entire tunnel network inside the asteroid. This is looking at the entrance from the inside. Looking into the tunnel network. Most of those holes are more tunnels. Which way do I go? Looking downward into a deep shaft. It stared back into me. Even though the tunnels weren't too small, the main engine was too powerful, and I kept smashing into everything. This time, I rammed the wall hard enough to destroy the cockpit. With my sweet ride out of commission, and no way to modify asteroids, I found myself trapped inside. To get out, I would now have to continue on by jet-pack. Jet-pack is certainly slower. Eventually, I find an exit. Exit tunnel from outside. Me rebuilding in the shade of the asteroid. It would be really nice to have a way to save and load ships, somehow. Edit: Come to think of it, I should have tried using the different lights.
I hate to repost a question i asked earlier, but how do i get overscan to work in this game? I've never had this issue before, but the game isn't using overscan and i have black bars around my screen. I'm using a AMD card.
do the lights even work
They do, just make sure you point them forwards. I had mine backwards for a while and was wondering why they didn't work.
I made a ship. [img_thumb]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/1045125991143302001/7EED6ECD1F3D26AF1AD36116FCB5A82808CD149F/[/img_thumb] You might see some pixels in the distance above the far end of Discovery One. That's my other ship. [img_thumb]http://cloud-3.steampowered.com/ugc/1045125991143313183/20CA58101D44924E06E6086AD86A96C30E0EEF59/[/img_thumb] The power of one reactor, and a bunch of engines. I never got it to budge, sadly. [img_thumb]http://cloud-3.steampowered.com/ugc/1045125991143314379/F5886D4545321FCEF962C343C3AD44034D3B575D/[/img_thumb] It will remain there forever. A solid hunk of metal and engines. [img_thumb]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/1045125991143295507/1DA26C12A99065514F3F373E7F0E106822B24165/[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/1045125991143294137/443B8471C3D70002F4FF2BCFA7A3F9401A778D79/[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/1045125991143315342/F302F0E15A3BCCD6B9A0170F045B21613A1B8E60/[/img_thumb] My other ship, it's pretty fast (100 m/s) but handled like shit so I added gyros to the engine guards. It can literally turn on a dime now.
These pictures are like torture. I want this game so bad. Curse my wallet being empty. Has anyone looked into the files to see if you can mod it yet?
i'll buy it 4 ui but only if you yiff [editline]18th October 2013[/editline] also it looks like it'd be pretty moddable. the files aren't really hidden or anything
Am I dead? [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/559863135010125578/5A1D1629AC2D4DFA8FEDCFEC85CCB61B92145DA3/1024x576.resizedimage[/t]
Was trying to recreate the In Amber Clad (because fuck the PoA) and about three hours later with the front half done I compared it with an actual picture and realized it looked nothing like it. That is 3-4 hours wasted so screw it. I'll be sticking with originally designed small ships from now on. I'll use one to demolish the useless piece of scrap i'd spent almost 4 hours on; and it was to scale too.
Try doing the Forward unto Dawn. I made that and the PoA in corneroids a while ago.
For the smaller ships, it's a really cool feeling knowing your stupid looking ship look the way they do because it's functional. [t]http://i.imgur.com/XNvYhzz.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Tlg25ci.jpg[/t]
I suggest listening to this while playing the game. http://www.di.fm/spacemusic It is pretty awesome.
Wellll that didn't work AT ALL
Anyone know if this game is available in Steam store on the 23rd?
Wellll that didn't work AT ALL
I imagine that's going to happen with some larger ships once people start making entirely armored ships. You fly your boarding ship right into the side of a dreadnought and your ship just shatters.

Make a custom resolution that's about 1920x1076 I think(can't remember exactly) and it should fix the problem. I had a similar thing happen with CoH2 and that fixed it up, just have to remember to switch to that res when you want to play. Just tested it again and it does work, you have to set your desktop as that resolution and pick that resolution ingame as well.
If at first you don't succeed build it BIGGER [IMG_THUMB]http://i.imgur.com/JCo6OdP.png[/IMG_THUMB] I really suck at making ships or vehicles that look good so in games like this (banjo kazooie: nuts and bolts) I just turn into a mad scientist making absolutely insane vehicles

Finally started a large ship, still tons of work to do. Need to move some thrusters around, find new place for the weapons and start working on the interiors. Not sure if I should add hangar or maybe turn the whole ship into mining vessel or something. [img_thumb]http://rulssi.kapsi.fi/crap/images/ship.jpg[/img_thumb]
