How viable do you think an actual missile tube for large ships would be? Kinda like the launchers for small ships except inherently larger and stronger. Something that you're meant to mount as either a torpedo tube or as a vertical-launch silo a la modern destroyers. It seems that if you stack several rocket launchers and try to fire them, the rockets explode directly after being launched, destroying the ship. Looks like four blocks between each launchers solves the problem. Does anybody else have the same issue ? EDIT Also, i think that the assault rifle is more powerful than the small ships' minigun.
Sweet, finally some weapons to play with. As others have said, needs balancing. The guns are useless and the rockets are way too useful.
I think I'd like to see more large-scale weapons or things that encourage weapon improvisation/imaginitive weapon design. I'm thinking of some of the things I've seen people post here, like the ship that was lined with drill bits or something and acted like a giant saw you would ram into another ship, or that incredible railgun-like ship that fired unguided projectiles at high speeds. Torpedoes would be pretty cool, especially if they worked like in that video Pilotguy posted and/or were unguided.
well i agree that the rockets are to strong but it is only weak armor its like internal armor not meant for platting its just there if "shielding" is ever added it might be like close shielding like a foot away from the armor and there could be reactive armor platting for explosive or projectiles and like some one said light medium and heavy and supper heavy armor plating. just some ideas i have or is the guns are affected by gravity that could change everything

I think shields improve the artistic representation of ships, since they're no longer forced to be made out of giant thick hulls, if done correctly. As it is now, I can easily see certain ways of building ships to be superior - such as putting thrusters inside of the ship to maximize protection - and I don't think that should be right. Now of course shields can end up doing the same thing (such as in Starmade), but I'd like to put my faith in the dev's on this one. Just a thought on missile/gatling gun balance: I imagine missiles probably won't get spammed as much on small ships simply because of limited ammunition. You're going to be able to store a lot more bullets on a small, manoeuvrable ship than missiles. The game will NOT be balanced around artistic expression. 3. If engineering isn't fun to you, this isn't your game. Note: Artistic expression is a part of engineering so don't go thinking that anyone advocating any level of realism wants fugly ships. I thought the whole idea was to build your ship to do something or build your ship around doing something, as opposed to just taking the easy way out and slap shields on your unarmoured 'artsy' ship.0

My opinion on weapons currently in game: Warheads: only for torpedoes (Probably just a drone ship with a warhead) for their immense damage. Huge, easy target, accelerates rather slow, but if it hits, it fucks up ships for good. Large ships need large missile pods (not the sentry kind), like in the video posted above. Rather slow top speed (fast acceleration though), and you probably gonna need to select the impact point/input coordinates of some kind (no shooting at the center of the screen). And they should have the current small ship missile dmg or slightly bigger. Small ships missiles' everything is fine, except the damage needs nerfing.

Bam, solved.[/QUOTE] shields are stupid for gameplay (lets wrap everything up in a magic health regen bubble!) and don't make sense apart from 60s scifi TV shows trying to save money they really shouldn't have ever became a sci fi trope beyond that
