Hey, not to bring the discussion off topic, but has anyone played kinetic void?
I just bought it(impulse buy) and i'm starting it and building my first ship
first impressions are good, but I was wondering if any of you guys had played it before.
I didn't but wanted to. Is it similar to SE in any way?

Except for being in space

this alone made me buy it, I'm so stupid. didn't even read the god damn store page, what am I doing, this better be worth it

Last I played it, there wasn't any actual gameplay past a sandbox to fly your ships around in, but the ship design is pretty good in itself.

I'm crying, what the hell have I made
I honestly have no clue what I'm doing
It's a much different but very interesting game all the same
it's a couple of bucks so it's worth it so far. i'm looking forward to finding something in the world to interact with really though
Also why the hell do drills spin but miniguns don't
Also why the hell do drills spin but miniguns don't
They are going to fast for our babby eyes to see the speed.

one thing which would have to be added with the powernet wires would be a power maintenance panel. it'd show the ship in light blue blocks on a blue background, then highlight where all the power wires go around the ship. this would show damaged lines or areas of the ship without power as well in case something is hit and you can't figure out where on the powernet the damage is.
I agree, it would also be cool to reroute power around the large ships just like in FTL.
So I tried making this AA gun.
[t]http://static2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110411014944/supcom2/images/5/55/UEF_AA.png[/t]
It worked brilliantly.
Until the guns recoiled so hard that the turret tore itself off the ship.
WELP.
i think i'll build all my ships with blue and yellow because it looks just so cool
i think i'll build all my ships with blue and yellow because it looks just so cool
I'm partial to white and yellow. It looks clean and professional, like a real kept up navy from some sci-fi, and black and red for pirates since black and red are associated with bad things, i guess.
welp i was told to make a ragnarok the minmatar republic titan (from eve online ) full sized its 18 km long im going to be at this for a long time.
Edit: its not going to be full sized its going to be 18 sections of 100 large blocks long and 50 wide and 45 tall

I finished the frame of my door. Every time I try to paint part of it my game freezes up for a second.

My favorite is blue with white go-faster stripes. Because, you know, go-faster stripes make it go faster.
I wish it had orange
My favorite is blue with white go-faster stripes. Because, you know, go-faster stripes make it go faster.
why blue, though? everyone knows red ones go faster. if we take a blue ship with white stripes and put it next to a perfect copy that's red with white stripes, the red ship will always go faster.
most blokes, you know, will be flying blue ships with white stripes. blue with stripes, and you're the fastest. your speed indicator is all the way up, all the way up. you'd be on ten on your speedometer if the scale went from one to ten. where can you go from there? nowhere. what i do is, paint it red with white stripes. put the meter up to eleven. one faster. it's like, how much more fast could a ship be? and the answer is none. none more fast.
Rockets would be ok in their current damage configuration if you could only fire the four tubes present in the actual weapons system.
Explosions are easy to counter (spaced armor) so long as there isn't a constant stream of boom coming at you.

Also Gatling turrets need to be able to shoot down missiles
My ship is about twenty million kilograms right now and it's no where near completion. This is the largest thing I've made thus far and it moves very fast thanks to the dozens of large generators and large thrusters. Too bad it takes twenty million years to turn though.

Holy shit I can fit the default red large ship in the hangar
The missile itself should actually be smaller than the tube so they dont explode on your ship if you have two next to each other
The main reason I would want shields is because repairing hull damage on a ship would be really annoying - you have to try and remember the whole blueprint of your ship and stick the blocks back on, one by one.
Ported over from a Starmade idea I had, it would be good if when a block was destroyed by collision or weapons, it left behind a skeletal 'destroyed' block that lets everything through. Then, we have a repair laser that works in the opposite way - the laser hits damaged/destroyed blocks but not full health blocks. So if you have your damaged ship, you can run a column of repair lasers over it slowly - the laser repairs the block on the surface, and when it's full health it goes through and starts to repair the layer underneath. I'd love to see a big repair bay like that.
i hope there'll eventually be some kind of unobtrusive in-universe HUD with the small ship cockpits to add to the atmosphere a little bit. if there were some kind of diegetic Steel Battalion/Republic Commando type thing going on there i could see it all being very lovely

Wots dis? Every grot knows RED GOES FASTAAA!!

That's actually pretty ingenious.

I don't know if it would be possible to have this working alongside debris/broken ships, as technically you could regenerate the whole ship off every little bit that breaks off.

the only problem with that is not being able to do huge damage like cutting a ship in half
at the very least, there could be a ghost version that appears of any blocks that have been destroyed when you take out the repair tool, which will automatically rebuild them with the right colour/orientation
I figure if there's going to be a dupe tool equivalent, then surely any large debris of a ship will remember what it was spawned from. Then it'd just be a matter of overlaying the original complete design blueprint over the chunk of debris you want to rebuild from.
I'm having too much fun with the missile pods

What'd be neat for the rockets is if you could configure the amount of rockets in each tube, up to, say, 12 or 15. The more rockets, the smaller they are and the less damage they do, but the faster they move and, obviously, the more you can fire before you have to reload. So you could take a tube or several and fill it with tiny rockets for strafing runs/anti-fighter combat, or you could take one with a single, large and noticably slower rocket that functions more as a torpedo for dealing heavy damage to capital ships in a single shot.
