now that I'm seeing this video it makes it feel like I played this yesterday
I'm shining of nostalgia right now, what a great game

I need suggestions on painting this.

Of all the things I would find hard in this game, painting is the hardest. A plain colour is just too plain.
holy shit Squeeqy, had no idea it was that compact when folded. you gotta make a video of that too, holy shit man
[editline]28th December 2013[/editline]
I'd go with white, black and red if it was up to me by the way

Either black with red trim for Cybran colours or green and yellow for space Kraken.
Or just do dazzle camouflage.

That'll really screw with people.
can we get a video of that robot arm thing in action?
can we get a video of that robot arm thing in action?
Hold your horses. I have to paint it, and then decide that I like its colours. That's going to take the longest time.
I also have to come up with a ship that has contrasting colours for it to cut into.

Imagine seeing that in a multiplayer server, a derelict ship destroyed. You can explore the whole interior and such. With the powerline idea there could be flickering lights. Now we need some sort of alien and we would have Dead Space all over again :v:

paint it red and gray, and just color one of the default ships plain white

RIP in peace headphone users.
About the power cables:
The deva of Blockade runner had a really nice system planned for power cables. I suggest people go look that up.
I would link it myself but I'm currently at home where the internet is horrific so it woul take me forever to find.

now that you mention it, would be cool to have a system where damaged cables would be less reliable to use. completely busted cables wouldn't transmit power at all of course
the way I see that would work would be to have random intervals where power wouldn't flow for, I don't know, 0.1 seconds or less at random intervals. the more damaged the cable is, the more often these intervals occur, which then causes more unreliable systems due to frequent power losses. even though they're minor, they will end up causing some annoyance and havoc after being damaged enough. when the cable closes in to the absolutely broken state, it would then have random intervals just inverted. instead of no power flowing for 0.1 seconds, there would instead be power flowing for 0.1 seconds
that would be pretty cool to see in the game actually

Trust me is the ship i build don't look like what i said its because i got pissed off at it and made something better that i can make and the parts i need arnt in yet

Decided on black and yellow.

Also features a tastefully decorated interior. None of this external-colours-showing-through crap
Are there beamlasers? Will there be beamlaser?
I wanna build the mighty Colossus. Maybe reenact her last battle?

i kinda hope there will be some sort of pew pew guns, but instead of going the usual "scifi disco laser wub wub" route they should make them light yellow or just white
squeegy imagine the use of that thing in MP
you approach a large target, no menacing appearance
and then
you are the space praying mantis

Keep most of it metal and paint some important moving parts with a yellow and black warning pattern and then add some red on some key parts. Make it look real industrial

Yes please just sit very still for the next half our while I slowly unpack my mess of 20 moving parts trying not to damage anything.
And then you simply have to fly a short distance away while I have clamps attached and my ship is utterly destroyed.
[editline]28th December 2013[/editline]
This is all for the sake of the spectacle.

Given the coloration I'd think it more akin to a Japanese Giant Hornet in space.
It's probably not set up to be an attack ship, but I could see it working well as a salvage vessel. Pull up alongside someone's abandoned freighter, and hack it to bits.
imagine having a separate ship to put the parts into
or hell, a container attached to the manipulator ship
[editline]29th December 2013[/editline]
this is how playing MP with Squeegy is going to be

Cargo Containers are now the most deadly weapon I can think of, I stuck a 200 ton rock in one (been excavating a base inside an asteroid) and accidentally broke it, entire fucking place blew up to contain it and the entire area is glitched out now, whenever I placed new blocks, they'd just blow up or become flatter than a 2 dimensional plane. Thank god for backups.
how many small thrusters are equal to one big one

like pulling the legs off a spider
it would be really cool if you could attach landing gear on either side of a ship then pull it apart

tension and compression and all things associated with that, like shearing, will be really, REALLY resource intensive. to the point that, it would cut off a lot of lower-end players from the game. Yeah, it'd be cool, but not feasible. I dont think there is any game that has tension and compression simulation other than simulators like BNG.
Been making a lot of progress on my base.

You'd also have to account for the Square Cube Law, which would mean no more giant spaceships.
Here's a little fighter I made recently. It's very fast (large thruster in the back), very maneuverable, and with those rockets it can wreak havoc on anything.
