I'm hoping later on they make it possible to mod entities. Modding models will be possible, but they say they haven't made the tool they use to convert the format available yet. I'm guessing that'll come either on early access day, or on full release.
Smaller ships need omnidirectional thrusters badly. Or atleast 1x1x1 thrusters.
Requiring gyros for turning makes no sense, retrothrusters should be able to work with any of the other thrusters and turn the ship just fine like in the ICP.
Nevermind, turns out a huge chunk of my ship was detached but it held still so I didn't notice it

Also, one of the devs has confirmed (in a rather off-cuff manner) that gameplay modification is planned, or at least that it's a real possibility.

Yep. Also slow burrowing works better than ramming at high speeds.
Finalised the external design for the side engines, now just to copy it over to the other side, then I can work on the central structure.

Needs more high-powered laser weapons and shields so that ramming doesn't become the default battle tactic (when MP comes along that is).

At the moment, damage between the rammer and rammed is about equal; it'd be even worse off if missiles chew a big hole in the front of your ship before collision.
Also, I doubt they'll add shields since they want to keep it to near-future tech minus the necessary gameplay cheats e.g gravity generators.
Speaking of shields anybody know what the "Reflectors: Off" refers to in the Ship HUD?
Flak shells, Torpedos, Missiles, and some sort of Autocannons that fire actual projectiles and not lasers is what I want
Then later down the road maybe introduce new building blocks of a different design that can only mount a certain type of weapon, and introduce plasma and lasers or some such

Fun game, lots of potential.
Easy Start 2 runs alot worse than Easy Start 1, for obvious reasons. Also, my buildings skills suck ass hard. Flying cubes galore.

I know you said that they were not planning on personal weaponry but "automatic rifle" makes it sound like there are already weapons like this in the game. I really hope there are going to be weapons you can use outside of your ship like to commandeer a cool space ship or capture an asteroid base or something.
Yeah there is an assault rifle. Currently unusable.
I hope they keep the combat meta from being the main focus of the game.
As much as I want to be a space terrorist to other players I think the personal weapons~ should be re-purposed engineering and mining equipment.

The lack of carbon and flux is odd, because that means there won't be any steel. Wouldn't you think that steel would be a good mid to low tier ship building material?
They have to have some sorts of personal weapons anyway, or else boarding ships / taking over space stations wouldn't be possible if you couldn't kill the people inside them

Yeah I think they should stick to space industry as the primary focus with some combat elements to compete over resources.
