I am colour red faction because i like digging rocks and building things and smashing them
What he said. This game writes itself.
Blue faction stronk.
Our interests include digging rocks and building things and smashing them.
no, Green faction is best faction all years.
We like to dig rocks, build things, and smash them!
yellow rules, dey wuz made for smashin n buildin n diggin
grey faction is faction that forgets paints.
grey faction is faction that forgets paints.
...but... but you still dig, build, and smash, right?
black and blue are my colors
more preciselyblack with blue stripes. One stripe for bases and capital ships, 2 stripes for utility/mining ships, and 3 stripes for fighters, battleships.

i declare myself leader of the white faction
Is this meant to be reactive armor? Because otherwise I thought it could be a weapon that you fly into open spaces on a ship, like docking bays or something, and when you activate it, it flys apart and tears the ship into pieces.
Wow, good guess, it is reactive armor. It's one of three layers and so far I've managed to get the ship to withstand a barrage of missiles before giving way at the hull.
[editline]31st December 2013[/editline]
The problem is that it takes up massive amounts of space to create the multiple layers needed to get it to work properly, not to mention I made it with structural and engineering integrity in mind (you can't disable the ship by attacking any single one spot).

Racist.
happy new year faggits

Oh right! i'm with you brother!!
WHITE POWER!!! WHITE POWER!!! WHITE POWER!!!
we will target nothing but black ships

you got yourself an enemy

- leader of the black faction
What? We're not racist. We've got plenty of black guys.
...bellow decks.

lots of silly options to vote for. if anything, the game should be ported to mac and linux, not handheld devices or consoles. can't see how that would work
That's hilarious though that the general consensus of the SE forum is that it should be released for Xbone.
Unsurprising yet revealing.

I know I'm late but I have to say I really like how you build ships.
I don't think I'll bother cowling my engines anymore, or at least not on the sides/front. Clusters like that (and all the other ships) look better and function better too (although I might spare the majority of the tiny ones for the larger ones)
i made a sexy ship

i think it might look a little better without the rocket launchers though

i have no idea how the fuck you people make small ships (or even large ships) look good
all of my large ships look like box with thrusters and my small ships are boxes with a lot more visible thrusters
This is really starting to annoy me. Whenever I try to crash a small ship into a large ship it causes missle explosion instead of just colliding and warping the hull. I don't have any rocket pods or anything on my small ship and no matter what it always causes that destructive obliterating damage that should only be caused from missles.
I literally strapped some thrusters onto a small ship the size of 1 large ship block, slightly flew it into the side of my ship going 30m/s and it just completely destroys the whole side of the ship it makes contact with.

This is making it so hard to test the ballistic durability of my new hanger doors :(

i suck at making big ships, but my advice for small ones is this:
stick the cockpit in the first block, turn on simmetry, then start building your ship around it.
try to picture what you want your ship to look like, then imagine where the reactors (i prefer the small ones) and gyros will have to be placed in order for them not to be seen.
also, i prefer sticking the thrusters very close to the center or main part of the ship at first, and if i feel like they'll look better somewhere else, i can just move them. in fact, don't be afraid to alter anything. the white ship i just posted, for example, looked pretty different before i chopped off the top part and added "holes" in the wings.
Has this ever gone on sale, or does it remain at a stable price? I want to buy it but the price is still a bit steep for me.
Is this normal or am I just high?

alternative small ship tip:
use 0 armor blocks, go as light as possible
my fighter currently is 5 times lighter than the "default" one, and accelerates over 10 times faster
its vulnerable as fuck but good luck hitting that

Ah yes, the age-old balance between speed and protection.
If you want my opinion, considering the destructive power of torpedoes and missiles (they need to nerf those, seriously), I think the benefits of agile, lightly armored strike fighters would outweigh the risk. Especially when you consider the minimal obstacles to movement in space.

If you're getting shot at, you can literally go 20m/s through the caves inside and asteroid with the thing just fine, does 100m/s in 2.5 seconds, so you can quickly U-turn around asteroids or just stop in the middle of space to bombard with missiles, missiles will wreck any fighter ever constructed really, so unless you're expecting to get shot at a lot with gatlings theres no point in the extremely heavy armor blocks

Alternatively you can design it with no armor whatsoever and put light armor on the front and top, so you can circle things (I already give my S.Ships more boosters for maneuvering on the bottom than the top, emulating terrestrial craft maneuverability) and take some MG fire and a single pebble won't shred everything.
I'd go with making the front strong, that way you could turn off inertial dampeners and turn around to shoot at people chasing you while blocking their shots
Until we see how it is that weapons work, unless missiles are hilariously weak or always unguided, or unless thruster values aren't changed, small ships might HAVE to be armorless to be useful.
Thruster values being changed would just make my ship even more rediclous, what the game needs is stress simulation (and stronger thrusters ontop of that)
My design uses reactors as fucking support struts
