Another Carrier? Are you mad?
Assemblers and refineries are done.
ye shall be delivered
Update 01.013.007 has been released. We have enabled the refinery and the assembler. The refinery can he used to refine the ore that you have mined and create ingots which can be used later in the assembler in order to craft new components.
At the moment, every world has only a few types of ore available for mining. To gain more types of ore, search in cargo boxes. Everyone who starts a new world will get all types of ore in the character’s inventory.
Features
- enabled refinery
- enabled assembler
- motor is now named rotor
- default character inventory now contains ore
- cargo containers now contain random ore
Fixes
- improved explosion performance
- fixed explosion particle effect
Our Team enjoys these updates as much as you do and we couldn’t miss this week’s update despite the holidays pause!
Wishes for a Happy 2014 from all the Space Engineers members!
I know I'm late but I have to say I really like how you build ships.
I don't think I'll bother cowling my engines anymore, or at least not on the sides/front. Clusters like that (and all the other ships) look better and function better too (although I might spare the majority of the tiny ones for the larger ones)
haha thank you! i build almost all my ships like that, except the TARDIS, but oh well.. i just think it looks alot better than a normal flat ship, they are like... UGH. not cool enough x)
So, have our new toys been weaponised yet?
there's probably one or two components that make for really good railgun projectiles
that is the first thing I thought, make a space shotgun
So, have our new toys been weaponised yet?
I'll see about using it for ammo. Refine your bounty and improve your bullets!
I'll see about using it for ammo. Refine your bounty and improve your bullets!
our new refinery cannons fire 67% more bullet per bounty
I want shit to break and explode into that stuff now, it just seems perfect.
WELL, i didn't find out about the efficiency of turning ore into ingots for cannons, but i did find out that if you turn off your inertia dampeners and use a jetpack, the assault rifle sends you flying at top speed within seconds. If your dampeners are on, you cap out at 39.10-ish

I fucking love you guys.
that is the first thing I thought, make a space shotgun
iirc you can already get that effect by putting gravity generators inside your railgun capsules. it pushes the debris from the capsule towards the target at the same speed as the stone, so that once the capsule impacts it basically functions like a point-blank buckshot round. i think Squeegy discovered this by accident
I wonder how heavy that refinery is compared to how strong it is
It could make for a good support strut on big ships
Why are thrusters immune to rockets?

I see you've made a mining ship that is far more practical and sensible than the one I made.
I award you 0 points.
Why are thrusters immune to rockets?
They're not.
Not sure about the newest update. Isn't it a little early for the survival mode features? IMO focusing on sandbox is more important for now
[editline]2nd January 2014[/editline]
Oh and Veger, can you ask the devs, is it possible to make the block hitbox a tiny bit smaller than the actual block? Would be helpful in a couple of situations, like being able to slide blocks into holes of the same size, using motor-powered things that do not have large spaces between moving parts or being able to place blocks if two different "ships" are involved (currently it thinks there is not enough space however if the structure is one "ship" it is possible)

survival is the sandbox you tard

He means, or at least I do, that they should focus on making the engine and building elements good before they add a metagame. EG: pistons, proper explosions, different block types (light, med, heavy), ship weaponry, magnet blocks, a UI for flying and shooting...or a UI period, cameras, targeting, etc.
I think they should but progress is still progress so eh.
that isn't metagame either
but the actual game
and it is part of the 'building elements'
which you know, the building elements can't exist without bloody refineries and assembling jesus christ
think they should focus on survival tbh, then push for a multiplayer update. the core mechanics are already in place I feel, only requires some polishing.

well they do exist without refineries and assemblies actually, because we don't produce our own stuff yet. that's why creative/sandbox mode exists.
they're not the building elements, they're defining the "game" portion of Space Engineers, which is still in its infant stages without much of an engine to back it up yet, or even mulitplayer.
what is there to improve on which isn't anything to do with survival though? the only things I come to think of must be some way to make stuff like barricades and catwalks easier. other than that, I feel they should keep working towards the survival side of the game

Oh, well, I'm shooting a wall of thrusters with rockets and nothing is happening.
Same with reactors.
Maybe it's because there's so many?
...eh
yes, but those are things which, in my opinion, can gladly be delayed to make sure stuff like survival and multiplayer gets out of the door faster
Just a thought, and I may be way off on my logic. But I would assume that the engine is ready and working, but just as the the frame build system isn't implemented yet until welders are working, it would be pointless to implement many survival features until the tools and blocks needed are working and implemented.
Would really suck if they had made full survival mode with npcs already, implemented that before refining rockets, explosions and/or adding better armor blocks.
Just finished laying out my ship, time to reinforce the armor! *hostile npc rocket barrage* Le sigh. Time to pick a piece of my ship to rebuild it from...
(Just to point out, the npc thing was hypothetical to illustrate my point. I doubt they are ready to add npcs just yet.)
I know I linked so many of this guy's videos, but they are just so awesome!
