I hope creative mode doesn't fall into disrepair anyway, if survival does become the focus. Personally I'd love to see a duel thing where we assign point value to each block type, and then people duel in ships built within a point limit. And for that it would be nice just to have the copy paste function (not to mention for large ships it would be annoying to replace all the resources).
why don't you just duel on a creative server?
But its an alpha?
Exactly, it's only an alpha, and they're adding "late-development" features already. They have so much to add, yet they do this.
Seeing how the game is progressing is far more useful than you're maintaining.
Progress means finding new uses for things. Newly added refining/assembling process does not allow that, like I stated.
The ability to turn rocks into items is not a late-development feature its rather fundamental m8 I'm sorry this weeks patch wasn't indepth enough but christ, remember its the Christmas and new year holidays.
whatever. i'd gladly trade assembling useless items for rgb color picking, for instance. now that's basic as fuck and has uses both right now in creative and later in survival.
I'm hoping that the next update changes rotors so that anything on one end of the rotor can be controlled by a cockpit on the other end. That way, turrets become easier to put in place, multi-joint rotor assemblies become possible/feasible and I can finally complete my quest to build a functional Strike suit.
whatever. i'd gladly trade assembling useless items for rgb color picking, for instance. now that's basic as fuck.
you really do have a strange schema on what is 'useful' but meh each to their own
okay, maybe having glass window blocks would be better understandable for you. and basic as fuck too. I'd gave away assembling for it as well.
It's not exactly reinforcing your point, as you're complaining that they're adding in new various elements for the final intended product, which there's no better time to do this than in alpha. That's what alphas are for: You slowly add in all your elements before you start polishing the final product during its beta stage. If you don't want any of this survival/non-sandbox crap added in the alpha, then when DO you want it added in? That's the sole reason you even HAVE a creative mode in this game, so people can build whatever they want. The programmers are basically adding in new things and saying "Okay guys, I DARE you to break the game with this" so they can fix it before moving on. Hell, personally I'm bummed out that they haven't gotten conveyors working yet. (unless they do and I just haven't been paying attention)
Gee yup, that's exactly what we believe. I believe there are better things they could be doing because it doesn't seem to me that the actual core of the game, with the way ships and whatnot work, is actually finished. For instance, in Starbound's development, crafting was not a thing until 2 years into the development phase. The engine and elements themselves had to work before a game was made out of it.
why don't you just duel on a creative server?
That's what I mean - a player organised thing. If creative mode falls into disrepair like Minecraft's did for a long time, it'll be way more annoying to do funny stuff like that.

I made a copy of the last that had the whole ship in it and named it "Catharsis" [T]http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q275/killercrabcake/SpaceEngineers_2014-01-02-13-51-17-210_FinalScreen_zps41347df2.png[/T] The fighter I had made to go along with it. [T]http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q275/killercrabcake/SpaceEngineers_2014-01-02-14-33-20-156_FinalScreen_zps0a76d9dc.png[/T] [T]http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q275/killercrabcake/SpaceEngineers_2014-01-02-14-48-23-821_FinalScreen_zpsea039af7.png[/T] One of the narcelles started to drift away. Took a lot of screenshots. Viewing them in rapid cession makes it look like a skilled and smooth attack run, rather than the laggy mess it actually was. And there's still a lot of ship left to destroy.
okay, maybe having glass window blocks would be better understandable for you. and basic as fuck too. I like the design though. I suggest keeping it, and just downscaling it, by a lot.
Might as well get one of the more (potentially) complicated pieces done as quick as possible then, yes?
??? it has zero place in the game so early. it adds nothing immediately. it will be a long time until it is even remotely useful. the rest of the engine is far from even half complete. there is still no ui. it is not complicated.
just wait a week and stop complaining jesus its just the foundation for future updates I honestly dont see the butthurt over all this every update is just adding more and more survival features as they slowly build it up piece by piece. I'm glad they're doing it like this rather than monthly updates or something.

I actually am autistic, so if my computer and the game could have handled it, I probably would have kept going to completion, interior and all. I've mentioned once or twice working on a new viable ship that draws heavily off the design of this one, but haven't posted it yet. I've taken to calling it "Junior" It's coming along nicely. Almost finished framing the entire hull out, at which point I'll post pictures and take suggestions for improvements while I start laying out the interior. And thanks. I've enjoyed your ship designs too. I like this thread a lot for inspiration in ship builds.

Everyone shut up. They probably had all these updates lined up a month in advance. I highly doubt they'd be able to consistently push out these updates on the fly. They're probably working on all these "core-features" that everyone is bitching about and just releasing a backlog of unreleased features to keep up a good image. Everyone just settle down and be patient - getting everyone in a fizzle isn't going to fix anything. Get back to building cool shit and sharing that cool shit.
Get back to building cool shit and sharing that cool shit.
*weaponizing
i didnt even read most of this argument thats going on, but just to leave my opinion: i think they should add all the "building" stuff first. for example, different blocks, different things that interact with blocks, and different systems and such that change, in one way or another, the "building" part of the game.

oh sweet, they tweaked light missiles, they destroy only 4 blocks now instead of 9001. Seriously, they're a lot weaker which i really like.

We're in the Space Engineers Fight Club. It's just like normal fight club, but with armchair game developers.
They still wreck light armor though, reactors are fucking stronger than light armor now for some reason Though this means a good strategy to take out engines is to literally just loosen them from the ship itself
Light armor is literally paper.

I've been looking for it. Found a similar night side one, but not the one you have.
Light armor is literally paper.
I think they upped its resistance or whatever value it uses, it's stronger than my heavy armor now. Speaking of which, I think they increased the fuckage of large bombs: This is the bottom of my dreadnaught/battlestar (cant decide which is a better description). This was a single bomb, the old bombs only did around half that.
I think they either managed to buff my ship harder or nerfed it with the gattling change, I cant even tell Since any part of my ship drops in a single gatling hit, its p bad at getting shot at now, but since any other ships engines will drop from a single bullet anyways, it doesnt really matter does it
