I hope they do do a targeting system that is semi autonomous as we've talked about, for smaller weapons, so I think that in the spirit of Space Engineers, "radar/sensor" blocks should detect and create these targets. It'd be much cooler IMO if the "3D Space thing" like in that photoshop mockup, was actually not a render of the real world with a panned out camera, but a simulation using what the sensors/radars know about the world. So all blue and hologrammy n stuff. For larger ships or tight friend-run-ships (still only talking 3 or 4 people), that would also give value to a "forward watch" or observation deck sort of position, with windows and a wide field of view somewhere towards the front of the ship to visually confirm that the simulation is correct, should they not trust the sensors or the sensors be damaged. Since I stepped into the alpha I was just really bored at the thought of 3rd person, that's what I've talked a lot about wanting a proper UI for travel, navigation, combat, etc. The same could be done for small ships in addition to their already open cockpit, and a neat, encased virtual cockpit glass as a possibility down the line, perhaps even as an option for larger ships, feeding from "camera" blocks.
So i was blowing the mcshit out of my ship and saw this fly off, and jet-packed after it: Neat.

The Silverback cargo/towing variant, mining variant, and fighterbomber variant. Fast as balls too, the sideskirts are packed with large thrusters.
Finished a new ship
What's with everyone starting to make giant hangar ships now? Stahp now my giant ships don't feel special anymore.
how did you get those engines so round?
Ramps.

ever wonder what the default red ship would look like if it didn't have any openings on the front and side, for maximum space aerodynamic? but perhaps you're more curious to know how the blue ship would look if its middle section was reinforced, so it doesn't snap like a twig whenever anything crashes into it? but i know that what you're REALLY asking yourself is "what if i stuck a big reactor in the blue ship, so it won't feel like it runs on 2 AA batteries?" never thought any of those things
rip aesthetics. [editline]5th January 2014[/editline] What was that fix for that stupid bug where the number 8 is repeatedly typed into text boxes? It's slower than my keyboard repeat speed so it's digital of some kind, I have no external controllers plugged in, and tapping 8 on both the keypad and numberline fixes nothing. Also, does anyone know why might my game run worse on my new HDD and RAM when everything else runs better?

That was the way to play sins, though. spam light frigates>spam kodiacs>novalith. [editline]6th January 2014[/editline] Speaking of which, this was one of three tactical kodiak clusters from last time I played: [t]http://i.imgbox.com/admFNotE.png[/t]
Well this makes a cool generator room effect.
Make it red and make it come from a tiny version of the Beacon. Now.
colourable lights would be pretty sick
Well this makes a cool generator room effect.
what IS that?
Your doom.
what IS that?
Light + motor?
Well this makes a cool generator room effect.
All it needs now is some loud mechanical noises 2:25 yes
I hope soon they allow you to apply gravity to small ships. It's odd crashing a large ship and having all the shuttles throw themselves out the hangar bay. :v: True, with a ridiculously large crash that could happen, but a little bump?
I hope soon they allow you to apply gravity to small ships. It's odd crashing a large ship and having all the shuttles throw themselves out the hangar bay. :v:
perhaps a module that negates gravity on the ship so fighters can work.
if small ships were affected by gravity, wouldn't the inertia dampeners automatically stabilize them?
if small ships were affected by gravity, wouldn't the inertia dampeners automatically stabilize them?
I could see a toggle for "atmospheric" mode inside grav wells. One that maybe disengages anti-gravity dampening and keeps the basic inertial dampening on.
if small ships were affected by gravity, wouldn't the inertia dampeners automatically stabilize them?
dampeners when you are holding down a key like to not work.
Well this makes a cool generator room effect.
You need to turn those windows on the bottom around so they make the same effect as the ones on the top
Sunwards bound!
I feal that my ships are nothing but piles of scrap compared to you guys
Well this makes a cool generator room effect.
holy FUCK how come I never thought of that?
I made a thing

add motors to the legs so they flail around aimlessly
I made a thing
Now build the Mega Maid.
