Welcome to the official forums.
But grateful though, at least he's not trying to justify teleportation tech in this game because apparently the US navy had a FTL jump capable destroyer during WW2. Until it secretly disappeared and all of the people working on it disappeared and all evidence destroyed.
Now that is a standard official forum post.

The USS Philadelphia
I love that story but how anyone buys it is beyond me.

I really just want "curved" blocks for better ship lines.

Ah, now, I'm an idiot. I thought it was a dev quote, missed the fact that it was just a moron.

I decided to look that up, and apparently it was the inspiration for the Borealis in Half Life/Portal. Neat.

I thought that was the Germans with The Bell.

Die Glocke has to be the most ominous name possible for your transdimensional Nazi teleportation machine

you mean the USS Eldridge right
Eldridge is a p cool name for spoopy ship stories
I would like a bit more involvement between ksh and their fans. It's more of a one way street now- they watch, and act accordingly. But I'd like to be able to talk to them on the forums, even on here, and get more inside looks and talks about the development process.
mostly I just don't want each update to be a surprise.
I just barely read this page, watched a minute of a video, then bought the game. I have never been so satisfied - pretty much everything I wanted from this sort of game.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention FP

I've been lurking this thread for several weeks, waiting till I can justify the money to spend on the game, because I really want it, but I can't bring myself to fork over like $20 for something that's still in alpha like this.

It's $15. Also the only difference between buying now and buying later is how soon you get to build things. The only reason to wait is if you personally think well balanced weapons, survival, and multiplayer must all be implemented before the game is considered worthwhile.

it's 15.00$. I've gotten over 30 hours out of it.
How is that not worth the money even in an alpha?
I have 85 hours in this game.

seriously, it's a game about building things, then blowing them the fuck up the most creative way you can. At least right now it is. What's not to like?
It'd be neat if this game added more environments like orbiting planets and ship debris fields. Imagine taking the ship you built across a massive procedural galaxy.
let's go all the way and make a fusion of Space Engine and Space Engineers
we could use something like this

add multiplayer on top of that and my life would be complete
This is really fun, I finally got something to move. But my guns don't work.

Should come complete with a giant metal Strongbad to tell you "THESE ARE MY HAAAANDS!"
This site is great for inspiration for ship designs, even if you don't try to follow them exactly: http://www.merzo.net/
I originally started with this as my reference:

And I ended up with this monster:

And damn is it my favorite ship, especially with it's interior.

How long is it?
How long is it?
You should put antennas on it, like a lot.
I always put my bridges buried within the ships hull.
My latest ship only has two windows, and they're only there because they look kinda cool.
the two default ships have pretty good designs for combat
the blue ship can still function unless you destroy the whole thing, because of the way the thrusters and reactors are placed in the ship. as for the red one, you'll take a while to do any real damage to it unless you know exactly where the bridge is, not to mention the fact that it's really good for ramming.

They're also both incredibly slow and sluggish for their size.

Nothing a few dozen gyros won't fix!
