Hey, tomorrow's Thursday! All hail the great and mighty Chris Hemsworth, God of Thunder and Updates.
snip neeeeeevermind found out you have to hit 'n'.
use landing gear to lock them down when moving, not ideal but eh v:v:v
I really can't do that without making it look weird, since I'd need at least 3 blocks to place and conceal the gears in.
How long is it?
Four hundred meters long, or about 200 blocks long.
I really can't do that without making it look weird, since I'd need at least 3 blocks to place and conceal the gears in.
[t]http://puu.sh/6epMx.png[/t] ? looks awesome btw
[t]http://puu.sh/6epMx.png[/t] ? looks awesome btw
It wouldn't work because underneath that armor block is a door that splits the outer hallway.
It wouldn't work because underneath that armor block is a door that splits the outer hallway.
Replace it? Engineer something, man!
Replace it? Engineer something, man!
But I like that hallway door. Also that ship is the first ship I started working on when I get the game and gave up on but since symmetry came out I decided to try and finish it [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/667957056914092515/6CC5C3F0D449782D575472522452E97D93E031FE/[/t] [t]http://cloud-3.steampowered.com/ugc/667957056914099647/7F7BA34F31670B5D3FF4987CE06EF8A337940AB5/[/t] [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/667957056914105908/8A61332CE4F614643C864BFC68DCFD021168A45A/[/t] The interior is a bit of a cramped deathtrap and it's been a little tricky working around my old asymmetrical work, but it's coming along nicely so far.
But I like-
Stopped reading here. This isn't space interior designers, this is space engineers! Get to work! jk but seriously though, you're an engineer, think of something.
Next update should make ladders more usable and useful. Right now they're painfully slow to climb and it's a pain dismounting because if you forgot to jetpack you'll fall back to the bottom.

If any of you don't know by now, the way to successfully dismount ladders is to NOT press space, but instead T. T will make you dismount the ladder on the little lip around the inner edges of the block instead of just making you drop straight down. I like to place a light on the ceiling in front of the ladder so when I climb up I can see where the deck is and stop at the block with open space behind it, but they should really allow you to just turn your head a little more to see behind you. [editline]8th January 2014[/editline]
How's the maneuvering?
It actually handles and accelerates quite nicely, but I haven't really flown it too much because I'm afraid the hanger doors will rip off and fuck shit up.

What I'm hoping to see next is the ability to bind groups of mechanisms together, such as grouping various landing pads together so you can toggle them on and off with a key-press while controlling your ship/pressing a button, likewise for motors, perhaps allowing toggles for the various features.

I made a giant cruiser, it has a lot of guns. And even more armor. Is there meant to be an update today?
yes
Place yer bets, what's this update?
more industry tech.
Heavy armor
I can reveal that the next update has something to do with collisions, shapes and ability to turn something on and off. Doesn't sound exciting but it will be once its released in a few hours. :v:

ffff [editline]9th January 2014[/editline] creative mode one and off?
Collisions? Is there anything really wrong with the collision meshes in the game already? Or it might be collisions as in ship collisions. Exciting stuff.
Could be the ability to turn motors on and off via key presses.
Collisions? Is there anything really wrong with the collision meshes in the game already?
It's pretty hard to walk on damaged blocks
Collisions? Is there anything really wrong with the collision meshes in the game already? Or it might be collisions as in ship collisions. Exciting stuff.
What Thunderbolt mentioned, and i've noticed problems with enormous ships where collisions over a certain amount of blocks means some get ignored. So I end up with the odd situation where my ship loses the tip, rest goes through the other ship without any collisions, then when I pull the ship out again, the part inside gets sheared off. [editline]9th January 2014[/editline] Update! http://forums.keenswh.com/post/update-1-014-010-6705321
Update 1.014.010 has been released. We also, added parameters in the control panel for lights and drill. Doors can now be opened/closed. Features - updated world generator - doors are now functional - drill can be turned on/off in the control panel - added light parameters in the control panel - gatling guns can now rotate - added new large world scenario (64-bit only) - moddable collision shapes Fixes - obsolete sound engine XACT replaced with XAudio2 - fixed toolbar issues - fixed issues with character and equipped drill - fixed performance issue with many items/ore in scene
