We can now close our windoors for maximum security! Also, on the topic of escape pods, yes, they would work, right as soon as landing gears can survive slightly more force than a gentle breeze. I don't want to do a combat turn and fling the escape pods off the ship.

Seats you could put inside small ships could be nice. Possible some kind of explosive bolt block too, allowing you to keep a launch hatch sealed until you blow the bolts and have that section of hull fall away.
So I had an idea, now that we can leave drills on I was thinking of drill missiles that you fire at people, they'd have explosive breaking mechanisms covering the tip to prevent possible destruction of the drill and a shitload of gyroscopes to stabilize it or something not even sure how they'd work at all, but it'd be like chainsaw rockets from cortex commands, but with drills. (perhaps in the future we'll be able to set engines to a on/off state for providing thrust?) Though I do remember someone making a passive means of acceleration exploiting the dampening mechanic you see with engines by having them rotate on a propeller made with motors so that could work. But It'd be fucking awesome firing a drill rocket at the enemy and watching it drill through their ship.

You know what I've been thinking while ramming ships into asteroids and other ships (apart from "this is fucking cool")? A collision stops a ship way too fast. Ships need to have more inertia when colliding. Here's what I'm talking about. The impacts is fine. What is the problem is the damps stopping the ship. Next time, impact an asteroid and turn everything off and you'll see. EDIT: wait I think i missread your diagrams. I don't know, you got to remember this is a newtonic environment. A ship isn't going to scrape along an asteroid like that unless its constantly being pushed against it.

If any part of the hull came in to proximity of an object, it would light up the cockpit or make a noise and upon contact, with more intensity. Would make mining and flying around tight spaces a bit better I think :v:

Working on another goliath at the moment and although it's not as large as my last ship, it's still pretty damn big. Hopefully this one won't turn like a stick of butter in a windtunnel.

It looks like a shit, literally, with some corns in it. It's way too blocky for an outer hull, inside is very empty and ... lazy, basically an empty shell. I'm very sorry, but I was expecting much more.
On the new 64bit map I found a small asteroid cluster 23km from the start point. Time to explore some more.
I'm almost done my first a symetrical ship. it's actually the best thing I've built yet.
