I want multiplayer for this so fucking bad. I've never been able to have a dogfight with someone with actual space physics and not reskinned airplanes.
I take it you missed out on the Infinity combat prototype?
I take it you missed out on the Infinity combat prototype?
suddenly I realize who exactly you are and how you made one of my favorite videos of all time, Kerbals At War (2).
C-can I help?
Oh god imagine multiple people building the same ship and getting all the dimensions mixed up.
Oh god imagine multiple people building the same ship and getting all the dimensions mixed up.
I guess that's why the initial construction of the Mothership took over a century :v:.
Oh god imagine multiple people building the same ship and getting all the dimensions mixed up.
A little golf buggy with 200mm cannons, or the inverse- a death star armed with airsoft guns.
I take it you missed out on the Infinity combat prototype?
I only just got the game like yesterday. Edit: Also, are reactors explosive? I put some in my ship's interior to make it less bland but I don't want the hull to be breached by a missile and have them tear the thing apart.

What do you think the limiter on FPS is for this game? More likely to be processor or GPU?
What do you think the limiter on FPS is for this game? People have reported problems with both, but physics-related slowdowns are the only thing that everyone will experience consistently if they slam enormous ships together like drunk whales mating.

My FPS is starting to drop when looking at my in-construction craft.
I would honestly say the CPU would be more of an issue than the GPU in terms of who can take the game better in all honesty.
I guess that's why the initial construction of the Mothership took over a century :v:.
Didn't it just take sixty years? I remember that being said in the game. But in SE the damn thing could be a space station and unstoppable juggernaught at the same time, what would we do with it anyways?
I think I made my ship too big, I keep losing decks.

But in SE the damn thing could be a space station and unstoppable juggernaught at the same time, what would we do with it anyways?
Took 40 years from the discovery of the Khar-Toba to construct a scaffold capable of building and supporting the mothership and they had to develop new technologies to do it - Remember they barely had put a satellite into space let alone hundreds of thousands of people. The Mothership then took 60 years. Later on when Kiith Somtaaw had access to the Mothership's PDA they made the Clee-San frigate, Faal-Corum and Kuun-Lan in a matter of weeks. They also salvaged some schematics from the Mothership's original construction, for example the "Worker" class resourcer is actually a retrofitted hauler from the days of the Scaffold's construction.
Does anyone know if there are plans to add more decorative objects (i.e. monitors, gas tanks, pipe/cable clusters) later on? I mean, probably after the core game is built, but still.
Does anyone know if there are plans to add more decorative objects (i.e. monitors, gas tanks, pipe/cable clusters) later on? I mean, probably after the core game is built, but still.
They are planned.
Hey Veger, can you ask the dev's how they plan to deal with gyros on larger ships? As it is now they either A: spin like a fission-powered discoball in hell, or B: barely move an inch. In each situation they almost always refuse to stop moving, even if only slightly, and it makes it really hard to construct on them once that happens. [editline]12th January 2014[/editline] Mind you I'm talking about ships with immense mass.
They are planned.
Awesome! I've been meaning to ask, is there any plan for a physical control system, something like Redstone or Blockade Runner's wiring system? Buttons, levers, wires, that sort of thing?
Awesome! I've been meaning to ask, is there any plan for a physical control system, something like Redstone or Blockade Runner's wiring system? Buttons, levers, wires, that sort of thing?
In other words the power line system.
why not just make buttons and levers be something you can assign to certain doors and lights and such? why would we need a wiring/powerline system?
why not just make buttons and levers be something you can assign to certain doors and lights and such? why would we need a wiring/powerline system?
Because it opens more possibilities than just buttons or levers? I'd be fine with either one, honestly.
why not just make buttons and levers be something you can assign to certain doors and lights and such? why would we need a wiring/powerline system?
i feel like anything short of a powerline based system is going to fail us long term. What if you put something you want to control on a rotor? You now are unable to do that from the ship, you have to get out. I don't see simple levers or buttons being enough to let us fly ships in combat in anything but the most basic of manners.
why not just make buttons and levers be something you can assign to certain doors and lights and such? why would we need a wiring/powerline system?
imagine a keyboard. now imagine a keyboard that has each button on a 3x3m cube. that's why.
why not just make buttons and levers be something you can assign to certain doors and lights and such? why would we need a wiring/powerline system?
Why not? Seriously, why are people so against stuff like wire in this game? It's not like it will detract from anything, it's just more features for people who want it to be more complex. [editline]13th January 2014[/editline]
I myself haven't tested it but someone on reddit claimed that using the arrow keys is much better.
Holy shit, that works. Thanks!

More work done on my battlestar style ship with a change to the front of the ship (it is still ugly) The cunt of a thing now weighs 113,000t. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/auJQntN.jpg[/thumb]
Here is my latest vessel, it is a Light Assault Carrier, or L.A.C for short, she can hold a full bay of six fighters, she is currently equipped with the following area's: Medical Engineering Cargo Bay Alpha Cargo Bay Beta Crew Quarters Production/ Assembler Bay Main Command Bridge Secondary Assault Bridge Hanger Deck/ With Hanger Control
mostly because those who never really understood wire/never could be bothered or had the will to learn it felt like cavemen when going on servers in gmod and everyone was doing something with wire. don't want to stir up this argument again, just throwing it out there
i've never played with wire ever I still would not want a simple lever system. I don't think it's unreasonable to say we're going to need a manner of controller things that are attached to actuators or rotors or landing gear and we'll have no method of doing this but getting out of the ship, going out and pressing a button. Well, I don't know about you, but that sounds like it'll have a very reduced complexity online past not even being fun. There won't be a point to complexity in ships.
Are there any structural guidelines in place for the FP Fleet? (If that becomes a thing) Like measurements for hangar bays, small/large ships and colour schemes etc? Because if not we may want to make some before MP :)
