This and Rimworld are the two games I am looking forwards to the most this year. I'm in for early access the day it goes live.

I'm glad that this game doesn't have that extremely ugly ~minecraft and retro~ art style that Blockade Runner and Starmade has.
for FUCK sakes it's "definitely" [editline]13th October 2013[/editline] I've seen like 15 posts with "defiantly" today
calm the ham son
You'll defiantly keep an eye on this? Is someone preventing you from keeping an eye on it or? This game looks awesome.
This, BF4, KSP .22, X Rebirth, Watchdogs, Rimworld, some others that I forgot ... Where the hell will I find time to play all of this ?! Why do devs have to be such awful people and release so many "good" games so close to each other! Gooooooosh! 23rd... just 10 days till now. Good thing it will costs 14,99$ ...bad thing Steam thinks that $ = Euro, so... 14,99 Euros and I have only 14,57 in my steam wallet ... DAMN YOU! Anyway, on topic. This looks really interesting. I do own blockade runner, haven't been following the development though, due to how slow it was going couple of months ago. However, this looks so much more advanced and uses actually eye friendly graphics, I just can't wait.
The asteroids cannot move, the developer said this on the forums. But they can be destroyed and mined. We can hope that he will allow the asteroids to move later on, but I wouldn't expect it to happen.
Static? I don't know. It can be destroyed, and for all we know asteroids could have similar physics and be moved around. (Flying asteroid ships, hell yes.)
Space Stations and Asteroids currently don't move, the code is there, they've just disabled it for now. I guess if you guys bug them enough they'll switch it on. [editline]13th October 2013[/editline]
One of my favorite parts of this game is how much thought it seems has gone into making the player controls decent; it makes it so much more immersive when your character is more than just a bounding box. In starmade, your character just felt like a means of getting from one ship to the next, while here it looks like it'd be just as fun to have a shootout on foot as in a ship.
There is no personal weaponry as of yet - the developers stated they wanted the game to be about building machines and fighting with them. Although it would be nice to have some shooter elements in there. I was really excited for blockade runner, it seemed like it was trying to be what Space Engineer is - they were trying to move away from the ugly blockiness of other games and it also had prefabs. Actually, construction looks similar in both BR and SE it's just SE is far more refined. [editline]13th October 2013[/editline] Here's all this crap that should be in the OP - anyone know why when I click edit there is nothing there for me to edit? Have they said what kind of weapons they're going to implement? I notice they say they're going for a sort of near-future kind of tech (minus the necessary handwavium for gameplay reasons), so i'm guessing it's going to be things like missiles, railguns and other ballistics. Perhaps the lower-tier weapons will be repurposed mining equipment, like in Independence War 2. Oh man, railguns would be fantastic with the destruction physics they've implemented; now it'd really look like you punched a hole through the ship with awesome kinetic power.

Oh man I can't wait to make missile barges. Oh man oh boy.
Oh man I can't wait to make missile barges. Oh man oh boy.
Missle barges? Pfft. Imagine a ship with a cavernous mouth that flies hard into the ass of yours, and suddenly a sect of explosive explosive blocks come down and you've lost half of it and I'm flying off with a nifty nuclear reactor and whatever other goodies you've left in your aft sections.
How about a massive armored spike that's covered in lights and thrusters so the last thing you see is a big bright flash before your ship is split in two?
How about a massive armored spike that's covered in explosives so the last thing you see is a big bright flash before your ship is split in two?
ftfy :v: Bloody fun thing to do in Starmade; make a big ramming spike on the front of one's ship covered in explosives on the tip.
would be great to play this with friends too bad I have no friends
Friends are overrated, i've had the Internet keep me company for over a decade now :v: ... :c
We're all friends on Facepunch. Well, we pretend we are. Too bad this game won't have multiplayer on launch (early access) :( [editline]13th October 2013[/editline]
Missle barges? Pfft. Except in this game they will actually be fairly effective. Dear lord.
We're all friends on Facepunch. Well, we pretend we are. Too bad this game won't have multiplayer on launch (early access) :(
Well it is early access, we're basically paying beta testers; the reward being getting it cheaper than at full release. Main difference being i'm way more excited about beta testing this than I was about, say, Minecraft. 'Tis a shame, though. Would be hilarious showing the devs just how awful the Internet is by ramming each other with dick ships :v: The large hardon collider, if you will.
Right guys, as soon as a multiplayer release date is announced we schedule a time where well bring our best dick ships and ram them into eachother and compile it into the most epic video ever and present it to the devs with cake,
I wonder how the movement system for ships is going to work, If it will be like Starmade where the thrusters themselves handle the movement or if you have to balance it out and work out the six DOF placement of each thruster like in that minecraft in space game I forget the name of. [editline]13th October 2013[/editline] Corneroids, thats it.
I hope the thrusters are like in Corneroids, would make it much more awesome :D
I'm gonna recreate the Nautilus from "20000 leagues under the sea". That thing fucked ships up just by ramming into them.
I hope the thrusters are like in Corneroids, would make it much more awesome :D
Would also make damaging certain components to disable a ship an extremely viable tactic.
I fucking loved that book. [editline]13th October 2013[/editline] Like a mix between Starmade and Corneroids, that would be nice.
We need to take all of the dick ships and smash them together at such a speed that they merge together to form a dick monstrosity. We call it... The Dickularity Then we keep smashing it into more ships to add to the clusterfuck. Its like the borg, but 100x more (in)efficient
