Honestly, I didn't really like the doors update. It's like they didn't even test it.

As previously said, I don't mind furries, and am friends with several.

I don't know if anyone has done this before, but I decided to try out something practical after a round of crashing large ships into asteroids for fun. I made a series of large plates, big squares of light armor blocks, with varying thickness. I then crashed small fighter craft into them to test how much damage is caused. (for reference, the fighter in question is the default little blue fighter that spawns with easy-start worlds; it weighs roughly 25,000kg). Between the spawn and the plates, I was able to accelerate to 60m/s before crashing.

Here is the impact on the first plate. The ship basically punched right through, with the front prongs obliterated but the rear intact.

Impact 2. The ship made a hole, but didn't punch through entirely, as you can see the rear half of the craft floating near the impact.

As a side note, I took potshots at this one while I was inbound; the gatling gun doesn't really seem to do much more than dent the plating.

Final results. I had to attach thrusters and gyros to the plates so they didn't fly off and get lost between tests, but you can see how even then, the impacts have really scattered them.

Something I found interesting was how the thicker the plate, the more damage was done to the impacting vehicle. The holes in the plating remained mostly the same, but by plate 4, the impact vehicle had pretty much disintegrated.

Looking at LOD's is like the equivalent of squinting at a piece of work from a distance. Always looks better-ish.

You know, rapid feature expansion is a hallmark of alpha games. So is very little testing. That's kind of what we're doing... Or supposed to be doing, anyway.

We've basically all paid to be alpha testers of the game. In fact I'm pretty sure there's a bigass disclaimer on the Steam store page saying that the game is unfinished and being tested. There are going to be bugs and it's our job to point them out so they get fixed before v1.0 goes live.
