(don't quote me on that, keenswh forum) Heh, this is weird. I wonder what's stopping them from making transparent surfaces, and what's the difference between cockpit implementation and the rest. [editline]23rd January 2014[/editline] Still, Notch couldn't be arsed to finish the game he promised.
Notch wasn't planning it to get as big as it did and there are multiple points where you could call Minecraft "finished." You can't compare one guy with a successful hobby to a team with a plan and experience making another full game already.

Seriously.

If you're speaking about the ender dragon then please
You can't compare one guy with a successful hobby to a team with a plan and experience making another full game already.
Not like I was doing that.
You need to accept that MP is implemented now because of how their development process works and not because people whined about it. This isn't a game where people are waiting for new features every week. This is a development where steps to the final goal are being taken. When they "release" what has nothing to do with us testers and has everything to do with their development strategy. But since so most early access players don't act like testers and try to tell the developers how to make the game they want, the devs need to recruit actual testers for in between updates. [editline]23rd January 2014[/editline] Java and C# and extremely similar.
Except that java is shit compared to C#
Word of advice: Unless it comes direct from a developer, trust NOBODY over on the Keen forums. Seriously.
I posted there, asking for a clarification from a developer anyway. If it's true (please no) then I'm hella interested what's preventing it :v:
Such as? If you're speaking about the ender dragon then please Not like I was doing that.
A finished game and an end to a game are two different things. There is no real way to end a sandbox game without some sort of story line to follow anyway. If the developers sit in their office all day with no plan and just writing code randomly, then you would be justified in worrying about the game getting finished. However, they have a plan and they keep track of their progress. A game like space engineers doesn't start from a prototype that people happen to like and so they try to add feature to make it more full. They started out with an idea of what the game will be and a goal to make it so. Thinking that they are somehow going to forget to finish the game or work on features because of one part they implemented, is like saying that someone isn't going to finish a car because they added tires and are testing it's handling.

If you go and build a bunch of transparent windows through a cube, suddenly the engine has to account for a bunch of blocks which are now visible that would otherwise not have to be dealt with, and its likely to cause performance issues.
Alright, since i use facepunch all the damn time i think i should do this here. We are looking for testers who can play early updates (content updates) before anyone else and give feedback. We only have 50 positions open and on a few other forums it is also being asked so there is limited room. If anyone wants to take part in this, i need your: Name Email Skype Steam Send it to me using a PM.
I suppose I have to use my real name?
No update today, they're changing how they're doing it. and yeah your real name.
Cool, I'm in. To celebrate: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=220006344 [editline]23rd January 2014[/editline] Oh and you're meant to pilot it from the weirdly placed terminal at the top, since it is a vertical ship :v:

Nice work.
everything in that thing is pure wowzers

Is there going to be some sort of seat thing so you can make a transport ship or something? I really want to make some Mass Effect shit.
I didn't think the engine used any sort of adaptive occlusion culling.
I'm not familiar with the engine workings at all, but I'm making a guess based on what I've observed in game and how most voxel engines work in general. There's definitely some sort of occlusion culling occurring since I've noticed my FPS can fluctuate a lot when I'm inside a ship vs outside of it, and I get rendering pop in with the asteroids and such when I go from a hallway to looking out of the hangar in my ships. I think it'd be unreasonable for there to be no culling happening considering how awful performance would be otherwise considering its a voxel engine.
what was the patch today?
They've just put a statement out that they won't be doing weekly updates for a couple of weeks..
Well I had to download something today so I'm asking what that was
It was a patch to update the changelog with "there is no patch today"
It was a patch to update the changelog with "there is no patch today"
Ceci n'est pas une pipe.
So guys, survey for my next project: How wide and tall are your medium-sized (anything shorter than 65 block) large ships?
So guys, survey for my next project: How wide and tall are your medium-sized (anything shorter than 65 block) large ships?
Less than 65 blocks tall and wide?
For those who said Notch abandoned his game he didn't, He had real life stuff like a wife (who divorced him) to deal with.
For those who said Notch abandoned his game he didn't, He had real life stuff like a wife (who divorced him) to deal with.
Well, you're the first one to bring it up on this page.
Less than 65 blocks tall and wide?
I define a medium ship as a large ship that is less than 65 blocks long. I was wondering how wide and tall everyones medium ships were.
For those who said Notch abandoned his game he didn't, He had real life stuff like a wife (who divorced him) to deal with.
didn't his father commit suicide as well?
