Wimp ships. Goo 100+ or go home.
Alright, since i use facepunch all the damn time i think i should do this here.
We are looking for testers who can play early updates (content updates) before anyone else and give feedback. We only have 50 positions open and on a few other forums it is also being asked so there is limited room.
If anyone wants to take part in this, i need your:
Name
Email
Skype
Steam
Send it to me using a PM.
A beta within an alpha. What a pain.
Why'd ya need skype?
Edit: I give up. Here's my first ship by the Way. Went too ambitious for a first try. I'm under the assumption that a single large ramming blade would more effectively cut through a ship than a bunch of separate rotating blades. CONFIGURING HUNDREDS OF PURPLE LIGHTS.

Stuff i learned...
-Large thrusters are too large and chunky. Like they should pretty much be bigger versions of the smaller thrusters. But they're not. The base is rectangular and there's no reason for it. It just looked realy ugly when i tried to put lots of them together.
- The game could realy use thrusters which aren't 'barrels'. This is mostly because i wanted to make one Huge rear thruster rather than a collection of many large thrusters.
-You realy need the ability to configure lights when/before you place them, rather than having to go to a terminal .
- I don't have a middle mouse button so paining is a pain in the arse.
- I'd realy like purple, brown, Cyan/aqua and 'pale' versions of all the colours. Like pale yellow.

Never said its a "Beta in a alpha" but you could put it that way i guess. We need skype because that is how we communicate. :v:
I saw they put up a community page on their official site where they gathered sites to fan communities. No mention of Facepunch though, despite us giving them a lot of content and their community manager being active here :V
finished yet another ship that i had forgotten about (before i posted it here a while ago, that is)

(that's not actually the same pic i posted before)

suggestions on how i should paint it?
Working on my first station. It's not looking how I'd like, it isn't asymmetric, and I've yet to paint it, but I love the idea. The spires contain grav gens at each tip, so that if you stand in the middle level, a jump is all it takes to switch gravity fields, so it's much easier to store things on the "ceiling"...because there really isn't a ceiling anymore haha.

Creative thinking there!
Anybody have an inkling on when there will be a sale for this game?
Or perhaps a demo?
Anybody have an inkling on when there will be a sale for this game?

The game itself is early access, so a demo won't come out untill it's completed I guess
Same thing for a sale

KSP is in early access but it has been on sale for a few times now.
Out of all the ships Ive built based on a specific purpose, I think this is the most successful:
The "Fat Man" towing platform.

Because of my testing with my small towing ship, I decided to build it so the load is right in the center of the mass of the ship, so it doesnt go spinning like a top when you hit the gas or slow down.

And not nearly as slow as it looks

Birdman Interstellar Trucking and Towing, Inc.
I wonder how difficult it would be to make extremely basic ship Ai. Mining ore and taking it back to a set location. Taking goods from point A to point B. Moving near enough to weapons range and releasing landing gears on fighters. Those three behaviours would be enough for an open alpha. Realy, realy looking forward to that stuff.
Birdman Interstellar Trucking and Towing, Inc.
Im gonna make a cargo ship hull later that lines up with the fatman engine pods and bridge, so i can use it as a cargo ship then just detatch the hull and fly away. Probably the most versatile addition to the blue moon fleet.

Let's be honest, Strogg... Do we really want the kinds of people that are on the Keen forums here?

This makes me feel like building a shipyard somehow

I bet Veger knew we hated the attention :v:

In 0G space, the best shipyard is no shipyard.
In 0G space, the best shipyard is no shipyard.
But not quite, because you still have to have methods for transporting materials, men, and tools around your craft efficiently. Without jetpacks, for instance, how would you get around? Infrastructure is every bit as important as the construct itself.
If nothing else, you'd need an extensive scaffolding system. A shipyard allows for a more static version of that, for convenience and ease during construction.

Or rather, just a platform for materials is needed yes. Load bearing, heavy-weight moving, actual scaffolding, etc things aren't needed, and a "bay" like the towship posted on the last page aren't needed. So really a station could double as a shipyard, or anything large for that matter. A largeship could be a shipyard to produce more of itself.

Well first of all, I'd rather argue for rule of cool over anything else really.
That said, just because you're in a zero G environment does not cause inertia to suddenly stop existing, large scale infrastructure to move around large masses down the entire length of the ship, as well as scaffolding for workers to move around significantly improves energy efficiency over just strapping jetpacks and rockets to everything to move them around. Why waste fuel pushing a massive reactor from its storage or separate construction area to the ship proper when you can just have robotic arms on rails do it far more efficiently and with far superior control?

Ah I see what you mean. It seemed to not be feasible in my mind for universal or large-scale applications, but I suppose it depends on the kinds of facilities you're capable of setting up.
[Flaming Protectant: Not currently in the scale of SE.]
I like building without a shipyard, but for repairing a damaged ship I think a shipyard would be nice.
I think it'd be cool to see large constructions be easier built by manned construction craft
who knows though

Nah, I doubt they have anything like that planned. It would be neat though if some kind of small-ship based "repairer" modules could do something like that, or if deconstructing ships would be more efficient with some kind of ship-based tool.

I'm just thinking like for survival, how you'll have to build the framework then weld it all together kind of thing
Maybe just have a small block type that acts as a welder?
I agree it's probably a little less than reasonable but idk, it could make that game mode a little easier/quicker once you're already floated with resources.
depending on how building and repairing ships work, i don't think some kind of "manned construction craft" would be unlikely. you know, something that's faster than building/repairing with a regular welder, but needs to be crafted first and might also need fuel, for example
I've been reading too many culture novels.
Quick someone make a GSV.
isn't one side of a playable worldspace only like 1/3 the length of a gsv
[editline]24th January 2014[/editline]
actually how big is the map

50kmx50kmx50km or thereabouts.

outside of which you get creepy floating point errors.
they really ought to work on that.
