In 2064, the Interplanetary League of Asteroid Miners issued a contract for the aging Trident-class Cruiser. After a heated competition, the contract was ultimately awarded to Boeing-Airbus and their Anglerfish-class Cruiser. She was initially designed to comply with the Washington treaty, but is currently participating in the ILAM rearming initiative. [t]http://i.imgur.com/1LPxId2.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/2uyErmo.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/A68CcD7.jpg[/t] The ILAMSS Anglerfish, flagship of her class, was laid down by Harland and Wolff Staryards on December 3rd 2068. She was launched on April 10th 2069 and was commissioned under the command of LtCmdr. James R. Adamiak on April 28th 2069. Anglerfish first saw action as a heavy escort in convoy MASON, where she disabled one stealth cruiser from Solarium Energy and one saboteur ship from the Anti-mining Coalition. Since then, Anglerfish has scored a total of fifteen victories and has served under convoys MASON, PITA and KYBER. She continued to serve as a heavy escort until July 16th 2077 when she was removed from the active roster to undergo the ILAM Rearming Initiative. She is entered for a type-II overhaul and is set to reenter service by 2081.
Why, in your fictional universe, did Boeing and Airbus create a joint contracting company? Boeing and Airbus are each other's biggest competitors. Boeing and Lockheed-Martin team up fairly frequently, though.

I sorta just keep slapping blocks on until I get something that looks sorta cool, but then its so massive that it moves like honey uphill. Where do people get inspiration for ship-making? I'm not particularly well-versed in space stuff :c also I realized I didn't need a fancy space ship to fuck things up. As the market became increasingly hostile, many corporations, Boeing and Airbus included, began to resort to corporate espionage in order to stay afloat. Within days, employees were being questioned and fired. Within months, bomb squads were common at every assembly and administration complex of both corporations. Both corporations were on track to permanently kill the entire aviation industry by 2040, and it wasn't until the balkanization of the United States that finally ended the status quo and brought Boeing to its knees. In a desperate effort to stay afloat, Airbus bought out all remaining Boeing assets and used its new monopoly to essentially will the aviation industry back to life and jumpstart the fledgling starship industry. Today, despite Airbus America being the official name, many nostalgic enthusiasts still refer to Airbus' american division as Boeing-Airbus. I strongly recommend not building a ship that large on a map with other ships on it + asteroids I built Jormungandr on an empty no asteroid map and the slowdown made it absolutely miserable to even play
I would never subject myself to building something a kilometer long.

The whole thing is powered by a large reactor in a heavy armor frame + 4 small reactors, and it has 4 gatlings and 2 rocket launchers.
that part right there, you should make it a sloped block instead of a square
that part right there, you should make it a sloped block instead of a square
it doesn't look very good, since it slopes in the opposite direction to the gray slope behind it, it breaks the visual lines of the ship
not really? i don't know what else to say to that if you think a slope breaks the visual lines but a SQUARE doesn't
Trust us, it will look good.
Take a look at my workshop entry? :) My Cruiser, Pursuit corvette, Modified Admin Vessels (MAVs) Heavy KubelKraft fighter, Ty2Gunship and Ty1figter, and somones torpedo launcher i borrowed.
US finally balkanized? Sweet. So uh.

It accelerates stupid fast, turns like a brick, sports a metric fuckton of armor and has 20 forward facing gatling guns. Also it can ditch all of it and become a relatively normal Athena here's a video, it can do it at any speed, with complete consistency, whether it be terminal velocity, stand still or anything in between. I want to make a ship with a detachable ramming tip/spear. You fly forward at top speed, release it, and slow down while it continues at top speed into your target. It would be a kind of one-use thing, but might be worth it if you use a warhead in the tip.

I am quite tempted to try something like that though. Not sure if I'd use rocket-based detachment though, since there's a high chance you'll damage the torpedo somehow.

Trying out a new paintjob and a different kind of greeble (replacing the spiky, sharp corners as seen in that tuning fork-shaped carrier I built previously with e.g the painted tubes seen in these pictures. Where the turrets are will be the part of the ship housing reverse thrusters. Overall shape is still dreadfully WIP; any suggestions most welcome as i'm basically beating the dead horse that used to provide me with ideas. Seeing all these heavy-armored ships kinda' make me miss some of the regular blocked ships now.
I find that the lighter block ships maintain much more maneuverability, I find a good mix Light armor frame with some positional heavy plates, or a heavy frame with light armor for survivability. The heavy frame generally means the ship will be much heavier, driftier, and colossal feeling than plates. I also find even light armored ships can still ram a big ****ing hole in a heavily armored battlecruiser. much more effective than rockets or big ship warheads :)

It was fucking sweet. The front ends were designed so that you could "crash" it and the paneling would pop off and reveal the components underneath.
