Me, RayvenQ and Mervenus (yesterday) have been building on a station in survival mode. This is how it's currently looks

You're very brave building so exposed.
I attached a landing gear to on of many, many rescue ships so I could start working on a small mining ship. It wasn't long before someone came along, took the ship, spun round so fast that my wee miner snapped off and got smushed into an asteroid.
"I'm good pirate yes" - the guy says. Needless to say he was kicked as I mention to every new player that piracy/griefing is not allowed at this stage.
Someone came into our asteroid looking for stuff to steal, me and my friend came up behind him with lights off holding guns. He turned round, shat himself and flew away.
Here's our base:

Welding with a friend looks so cool, If only that bounding box would bugger off.

"The Pink Penetrator" as it was named got stuck in a strange position after I fucked up an operation to clear a path to space. I was drilling in what I thought was a straight line for about 10 minutes when I realised I wasn't going in a straight line.

I ended up completely upside down relative to our base. If I had carried on I would have just sailed straight above it.

Also, they need to fix the whole shaky ship thing when building. Whenever I add a large componenet to a ship it shakes and the landing gear snaps.
Also I've been hosting with about 6 people and not really ran into any netcode issues.. Sure there's been sync issues with containers and dents etc but no horrendous lag.
It feels as though people are just blaming all their problems on netcode since the big hoo-ha about Dice and BF4.
I wish you could transfer your large/small ship to different servers, instead of having to build from scratch over and over again. I think that if you have a large ship and you have enough uranium (let's say, 50 kilos or so) you should be able to 'travel' from server to server, and arrive at your destination with just enough fuel to do some basic manouvering.

I should see what happens when I go onto public multiplayer with this after I made myself a gun :v:
Another thing. What the hell happens once everyone has mined all the resources? I know that'll take a while but if the server was populated by good workers then it's perfectly possible.

that's why I'm hoping infinitely generating maps becomes a thing
Is ship debris culled once it drifts too far away? I'm just wondering because I left my friend's cruiser a smoking wreck and watched the two halves float off into deep space and then I realized that all of that is going to be taking the engine effort to process.
currently playing on asteroids scenario, large and on realistic. I got a mining ship, tons of ore, and the beginning of a refining platform/station
dont forget we built that together
the launch of the predship mk. 1:

Resource wars. Would be pretty cool actually.
I really hope some kind of way to manouver without jet packs in micro-g is added, like gravity boots which half you movement speed but allow for walking on whichever surface is 'down' for the player.
It's shit like this which would make salvaging long dead vessels so much cooler.
Is there a Facepunch Space Engineers Steam group yet?
Going to be honest, survival mode looks crazy tedious.
Going to be honest, survival mode looks crazy tedious.
It is, but at the same time it's really relaxing.

New shuttle. I tried to make it relatively compact while being roomy enough to carry several players in the hold. I wish there was a better thruster for this application.
Can you imagine how insanely frustrating that would be, though? And especially with realism settings being what they are - imagine mining and refining some shit for hours for some ludicrously expensive component, only to have it disappear when your back's turned?
I'm not against the idea of space pirates or enemy AI, but that is not a good implementation as it stands.
As it stands, no, it wouldn't be fun. In the future when turrets are working and we have things like proximity sensors it'd be fun to get a reading in one of your distant refineries and scramble to your fighter to kill the pirates. You then save your stuff and get a cargo hold worth of stuff you can use, not to mention the pirate ship itself which you can repurpose or take apart for more resources.
once we get dedicated servers this will be even better, especially when you have randomly generated worlds to build your hidey hole in, as sooner or later it will turn into anarchy on the server.
Infinitely generated asteroids and a map/coordinate system would just be perfect. Even if they came in separate updates.
I know it's a longshot but if this game got planets. Whoah.
I really hope they manage to figure out a way of getting volumetric life support to work. It's kinda annoying to have to jump onto a seat or medbay even when you're on a station. It would allow for airlocks too, which would be epic.
People are suggesting big robot ships and all but then I dont get to use my cool assault rifle in singleplayer!
Assault rifles are really hard to use, they take forever to kill a person and the jerky controls make it hard to aim.. Although I did hear that someone discovered Sniper Rifle and Shotgun sounds in the game files - not looked myself.
It would be pretty awesome if PVP got as good as shattered horizon.

Same here. It's kind of like me and Minecraft, I just turn on creative and build and play with whatever I feel like. I don't really feel like spending 18 hours doing tedious busy work just to build something that I could have built in 5 minutes.
I'm kind of wondering why all this dev time was spent on survival mode when we still have placeholder blocks that don't do anything yet. Large ship weapons aren't even up and running yet.

Some of us here are the kind that spend hours mining rock just to build a nice big block castle.
Up to the plaayer, really.
Looking forward to tomorrow's livestream. I think I'm gonna participate.
I wish everything, especially platinum/uranium, refined as fast as or almost as fast as iron in x10.
I'd imagine infinite maps would work something like sectioning. If you fly far enough in one direction, you will change maps. It would be cool if there was some sort of slotting system for maps. Like imagine I wanted to play with you, we would both choose our homebase maps that we would want to start on, and then we would choose the grid-size of the world. Lets say it is 4x4. The full world would then look something like this;

Keep in mind, you don't know where you are in relation to your friend. Maybe you could do it where you choose to either making the slotting random, or choose your base locations yourself.
hey if one of you chaps gift me this 15 dollar game i will gift you a ~20 dollar game of your choice on tuesday (my payday). im literally a buck fifty short for god sakes :v:
and if you dont trust me, consider it Toxx'd
You can get it on greemangaming for 20% off with that voucher code they are running.
so how are you supposed to survive in the Crashed Ship scenario? There aren't any refineries or any shit like that so as far as I can tell there is no way to build anything.

Pull it apart and build a refinery. Jeez don't be so lazy :P

tear up the armor and a large reactor
so uh guys, have you all forgotten that I have a Facepunch Space Engineers group? http://steamcommunity.com/groups/FacepunchSpaceEngineers
Anyone that wants can be put where they are hosting a server, just ask me.
I think assault rifles should be a little harder to get. Last time I played, while me and someone else were making ship parts, some other asshole just ran off and hoarded magnesium and came back and killed us, before we'd even finished deconstructing our spawn ships.
you do realize you can turn off weapons, right? sure it gimps the game if you wanna pew things but it keeps assholes from being assholey

We live in a world where some people have figured how to broadside spaceships.
I don't think causing destruction is going to be an issue.
Are servers a thing? Like are there any run by facepunchers? Multiplayer sounds rad.
