i think they have said something about adding scenarios which have some sort of end-game at some point.
I made my landing platform in light blocks in survival, got fucked hard when I wanted to fly my ships
I'm glad they made that change. always felt that it was a pretty cheap move to put thrusters on the inside
I could understand from a competitive multiplayer/survival perspective, but as someone who just builds giant intricate megaships I found it the only way possible to get my ship to move without making it ugly as sin.
SE received a patch again: Edit 03/21/14: Features - thrusters' damage can now be turned off in world setting - reduced Solar Cell cost by approx. 80% Fixes - fixed refinery speed - fixed crash in inventory transfers
Fixes - fixed refinery speed
Is it faster? Slower?
Come up with yet another design I like, using a modified version of one of my cargo carriers. Let me Demonstrate. [thumb]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/451790688282723931/9E1A597C3423A1ED5FABE2E72ACFBB285ADA4200/[/thumb] Tadah, now your assault team can get off the assault ship. Don't worry, I hear you still askign about the protrudy bits, and have no fear, I shall explain, one of the worst palces for a boarding squad to get pinned down, is out in the open, just as they exit their transport and so, with the doors deployed: [thumb]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/451790688282726281/B0B2B8165BAE828EA3D92E4BAAABEBC9AF846C33/[/thumb] Tada, your boarding troops now have preexisting cover at the landing site. Just remember to tell your pilot you're using the cover, as you may otherwise be caught ina somewhat embarassing situation as he takes off and takes your cover with him.
Option has been added. Now quit your bitching.
gotta say, this is really the only game im truly happy about buying during alpha. keen software really has their shit together with this one.
gotta say, this is really the only game im truly happy about buying during alpha. keen software really has their shit together with this one.
I think it's because they actually love their product and want it to succeed instead of dropping off half-baked product and throwing it away once it grows old.
I wish they made the sounds more realistic and ditch gravity generators for magnetic boots
I wish they made the sounds more realistic and ditch gravity generators for magnetic boots
wouldn't say ditch gravity generators, but would be cool with magnetic boots (craftable in survival, would drain extra power when in use)
I wish they made the sounds more realistic and ditch gravity generators for magnetic boots
they ditched magboots for grav gens first
they ditched magboots for grav gens first
For what reason?
I wish they made the sounds more realistic and ditch gravity generators for magnetic boots
What's wrong with gravity generators? I can see the usefulness of mag boots, but removing the generators?
For what reason?
they sucked apparently can't run, can't jump, can't do a lot of things
Hm, weird if they did that, because currently there's no way to navigate a rotating ship without power. They have been in the suggestions section since SE was first released though, IIRC
I wouldn't mind them later on for building things without a grav gen or something, but otherwise yeah I can see how it would cause a lot of issues, having to walk everywhere would get really annoying really fast.
Swebonny and i are playing online at the moment, so far no lag between us so if anyone wants to join us. The player cap is at 4 atm so 2 more can join. Its friends only so first add me on Steam. http://steamcommunity.com/id/DoctorVagax

I just realized that you could potentially have thrusters melting away at part of a ship intentionally to separate it like a multi-stage craft.
I wouldn't mind them later on for building things without a grav gen or something, but otherwise yeah I can see how it would cause a lot of issues, having to walk everywhere would get really annoying really fast.
A quick change in polarity will result in a jump. And even without that, what's wrong with walking? Do you bunnyhop everywhere in space engineers?

I don't have much playtime in SE (especially survival) but I can manage.

"Not enough memory to add new objects" The game tells me after try to delete an object....sure alt tabbing out works, but its more frequent now after this last update.
A quick change in polarity will result in a jump. And even without that, what's wrong with walking? You could theoretically use thruster damage to detach munitions without having the problems landing gear have....
How come nobody has weaponized thrusters yet, with the new melting mechanics? It might be that I've missed it, but I haven't seen a ship that locks onto a enemy hull and melts through it with thrusters yet. The more I think about it the cooler this sounds as a boarding vessel.

They are impractical due to the range you need to get into to be able to damage the target. You also need to sustain the position to be able to do damage. This would allow the enemy to collide with your ship and do damage back as well as with their thrusters doing damage to you. You might be able to use it as a way to breach the hull with a boarding vessel by landing on their ship with the landing gear and then burning through the hull.
Magnetic boots could be a gimped worst-case-scenario thing for escaping an out of control ship with no power/grav gen. They shouldn't let you run or jump, they should just let you lock your orientation until you can get to an airlock (or a hull breach) and escape in to space. Sure this is possible with a jet pack but it's not exactly easy. That being said, if your ship is spinning like mad and you leave the cockpit, would the spinning of the ship kill you? [editline]22nd March 2014[/editline] Expanding on that, surely magnetic boots wouldn't do shit if you were spinning sufficiently fast to get killed anyway? Any idea why my ship makes the block placement sound whenever I try to move it? I've checked the engine compartment and no blocks should be getting singed. It works fine, but the sound is just really annoying. Edit: NEVERMIND, found out why. The smaller ships couldn't stay attached. Alternatively their thrust from trying to stabilize damaged the landing pad (only 1 large layer thick heavy?).
