If anyone has a functoning blowtorch and is a little bored, I need some help assembling this wonderful beast: [t]http://i.imgbox.com/FGWEcsoI.jpg[/t] its a friends only world called compressorhead, add me on steam if you wanna help.
Rails, Wheels, Programming, Oh my!
Unless they're small ships they're not going to have working weapons. Maybe fighter escorts? Even then if this is their first introduction of AI into the game, it probably won't be advanced enough to be able to dogfight.
[sp]it's not AI[/sp]
i'm still waiting for an improvement on physics, because id like to be able to accelerate a projectile to speeds much faster than 100 m/s, and watch it punch a hole right through a ship.
So I made my first little mining ship, however when I turn the drill on it shakes around almost uncontrollably :v: How do I get around this problem? More manoeuvring thrusters? More Gyroscopes?
attaching it to a large ship would work very well
You know what, that actually sounds super awesome, imagine finding some old ship with no power You grind through the door and get in, only to find a bunch of floating skeletons in space suits That'd be creepy as shit
When experiments testing the viability of tapping into the quantum vacuum for energy were performed on the Apollo 21 Lab Station, reports devolved into strange ramblings about how their conclusions were inconceivable to human minds. Before all communication ceased, garbled messages were sent to earth from the astronauts about their experiments revealing to them the "howling face of the sun." A rescue crew was violently repulsed from the station by corpses in the astronaut's space suits. Footage of the incident show ghostly images of tormented figures hanging just behind these corpses, struggling, but seemingly unable to pull themselves apart from their decaying bodies.
fuck that shit I wanted to sleep tonight
Oh boy he basically confirmed wire-like stuff AS WELL AS GMod-like numpad functions. That's fantastic.
All the things he confirmed made me realise what a looooong road we still have to go down until we have have finalized the 'vision' of Space Engineers. :v:
Good. Ambition is an admirable quality. all we need now is a form of AI or infestation thing going on so it's actually a risk involved with salvaging a cargo ship
So they are just dead headed across the map? Sucks.
So they are just dead headed across the map? Sucks.
This type of attitude does not belong anywhere near aimed towards these devs or their game.
This type of attitude does not belong anywhere near aimed towards these devs or their game.
It's not really much of an update though, It's a nice feature to have, with the cargo ships, and the solar panel tweak is nice but other than that...I mean c'mon conveyors are crying out to be fully implemented.
There are a lot of things that really need to be fully implemented, for example how medical bays only actually act as a spawn point for the server host and every time somebody dies or joins a server a new ship gets spawned.
not only that but large ship guns which have been in since day fucking one...
To enable those they need to have factions all sorted and worked out, but conveyors don't need that.

It's a game, it's not killing you to wait another week for a (rather nice) feature we've been able to play without before.
Welp, the idea of cargo ships being booby trapped is bogus, caught 2 already, no traps ont hem at all. I'd have rather they added a feature that actually does something and contributes to you playing, than something that doesn't really aside from the occasional perk of a ship to take apart. As it stands, we have no idea how conveyors actually work so we kinda don't know how to design our ships to make use of them.
I found a booby trapped "Military Minelayer", it had a warhead hidden in front of one of the forward thrusters and a bunch more in a cargo section it was dragging along - it blew up as soon as I activated inertial dampeners :v:
To enable those they need to have factions all sorted and worked out, but conveyors don't need that.
I don't really buy that. You don't need a whole faction system to make something aim and fire. Modders have already made basic missile launchers that work for large ships, if they can do it than the devs can do it. The weekly update schedule is nice, don't get me wrong, but a lot of this has been very incremental, and consistently ignores ongoing issues. Rotors still don't copy properly, there are physics issues, and a lot of parts are still placeholders that don't work. Dead ships drifting across the map to give you something to shoot at are nice and all, but it hardly seems like it should be at the front of the priority list.
Protip; Having more than one Welder , assault rifle/other tools = insta crash if you try to equip it. It even crashes if you put it somewhere else after picking it up.
Did you build them or pick them up off the ground or pick them up from a spawned ship?
Every single ship I find is booby trapped, god damn, even a mining transport blew up its reactor when I tried to fly it
Damn these cargo ships are awesome I just chased down a minning ship in a modified rescue ship with landing gear, latched onto the unfinished blocks inbetween the cargo containers, and when I activated my ships dampners to slow it down, the force peeled it apart like a soda can. I salvaged the front half, but the rest was lost to space. Time to build an interceptor ship. Im doing a complete overhaul to a rescue ship for space piracy. Stripping out all the heavy shit, relocating thrusters to side-mounted pods to minimize burn damage while grappling, more thrusters, front and bottom landng gear, and a bunch of spiky shit painted black and red. Im planning on grappling from behind, using the pirate ships dampners to slow it down to avoid setting off traps, then deactivating said traps and looting/modifying the bootaaayyyyy.

Is anyone hosting a multiplayer survival game at the moment?
I like how you post about them not having traps, and literally the next post is about how one blew up because it was boobytrapped.
I just went off of the experience I had, although, neither were military ships.
does this game have an active multiplayer? is the multiplayer fun? how buggy is this early access game?
does this game have an active multiplayer? is the multiplayer fun? how buggy is this early access game?
You'll need friends for any real multiplayer, IMO. Multiplayer is fun but still buggy. Not lots of crashes in my experience but not really polished
