Are those lit circles a custom block or some clever usage of existing blocks i'm unaware of?
Red lights on max intensity typically achieve that effect.
I've used the red lights with max radius, default intensity in front of this mod engine: http://se-modz.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=175 Particularly with thruster damage, these engines are practically a necessity if you want to get anywhere fast with large ships. That ship, with four of them and with its weight and power tweaked will do 0-104 in 5 seconds flat. Mind, they're really for much larger ships. I built that ship specifically around those engines.
decided to make a ship specifically made to retrieve the cargo ships [vid]http://pred.me/dump/cargo.mp4[/vid]
Kinda reminds me of my survival scrapping/hauling ship, the Maroon Beast A bit slow for chasing cargo ships down, and not the right shape for a lot of them. Instead Im using this, havent come up with a name yet: Something piratey... EDIT: not the bigass blue one, the red one.
Squeegy will probably weaponize them by throwing ships into it with robot arms.
The current version uses drills. I'm hoping it wont be that difficult to make the switch.
I thought heavy armour was supposed to resist thrusters?
Large ship heavy armor resists small ship thrusters.

fucking booby traps. I captured the mining barge, whatever the big mining X is, and flew it back with no incidents, WITH dampeners on. I get back to my base, hauling total ass, turn on the dampeners, BAM, the rear end of the fucking ship blows apart, and it careens into several other of my ships. I dont now whether to be amazed or mad.
I wonder why they only raised the astronaut speed limit by 7 m/s. You'd think they could have gone further and raised it an appreciable amount, or done something similar for ships?
I wonder why they only raised the astronaut speed limit by 7 m/s.
they did it so you can go over the ship limit so you can't get stuck behind ships
One time i completely fucked up a ship after an autosave disaster and it was doing this tailspin at max velocity and the only hope i had of stopping it was to get to the cockpit. It was rolling and the only way i could try to get there was to spacehump this mangled part that led to a hallway and hope it scooped me in, except every time I made it in it nudged me out after a struggle against physics from the rolling and after about 20 minutes i just had to quit and lay down on the floor from motion sickness
I hope they improve the netcode, being on-board a moving ship that you're not piloting in MP is suicide.
I hope they improve the netcode, being on-board a moving ship that you're not piloting in MP is suicide.
a ship? like those drop ships? I usually fall straight through them if I try to land on them
Loving the new cargo ship designs. Successfully intercepted a Buisness cargo, Military escort and Military transporter. Buscar wasn't booby trapped, but bugged out when I was intercepting the Milesc. Came back and it was gone, leaving only some blank rectangles floating through space and clipping through everything. Milesc was booby trapped and I'm sure the Miltran is too, just haven't given it a proper search yet. The thing is goddamn huge, those warheads could be anywhere...
do you have to start a new world for cargo ships to appear or will they appear in ones made before the update?
It works on any save, but you need to go to its settings first and tick "Cargo ships"
my salvage list so far: mining carriage - destroyed in retreival, front end salvaged military escort - successfully towed back and de-trapped business cargo - matched speed and had a friend jump out and attempt to de-trap it on the go, unsuccessfully. ship exploded and sent large chunks of hull hurdling towrds our outpost, causing an emergency ship evacuation, chunk of large solar panels salvaged. mining hauler - successfully commandeered and painstakingly pushed back to outpost. It was easy to deactivate the trap, as it only had one small thruster in the control panel, but took longer to actually find it. 2nd mining carriage - successfully retrieved via maching speed and friend boarding it, currently being scrapped mining transport - retrieved with moderate thruster burns, after a full search on the go while I was trying to match speed with 2 other ships, was not trapped, currently queued for scrapping
i turned a Private Sail i found into a nice little one-room bungalow thing, it's even got lights and stuff. make a house a home
Wait what, there are two versions of each ship? I caught the Business Shipment one too and it wasn't trapped Unless Business Cargo is something else entirely
Replace those top flat bits with heavy armor, and have yourself some landing pads on the ship.

man, cargo ships spawn pretty damn often. it's getting cluttered in the world i just made :v:
decided to give my ship a go in an actual situation with a newly spawned cargo ship was fun! [vid]http://pred.me/dump/action.mp4[/vid]
man, cargo ships spawn pretty damn often. it's getting cluttered in the world i just made :v:
Ha, I got about four in the first hour of playing and then none after that.
Do cargo ships despawn over time?
They're set on a course so that they enter and exit the map in a relatively small amount of time, I think.
i wish player-made ships despawned after a certain distance. I have 2 fuck huge ships that I accidentally, and they are both 2Mm away.
I saw a cargo ship and instantly left my rescue boat to get it, It was booby trapped :( and then I couldn't find my Rescue boat, only a private sail that I nearly died getting in the cockpit from energy loss.
They're set on a course so that they enter and exit the map in a relatively small amount of time, I think.
Judging by the speed I found them travelling at, it should take about a hour. Also, can somebody tell me if these ships despawn after I blew them up in halves?
i think once they're interacted with, they stay loaded forever.
Also, catching them with landing legs doesn't count as interaction, I was taking my time with getting a caught ship back to the base and it disappeared right from under the one I was piloting :v:
