So my Space Engineers chat is just randomly inserting 7's into everything I type.
It used to do that to me when entering a name for my maps a few months ago.
I picked this up yesterday, don't know why I didn't sooner. I'm having a hard time stopping .
TTS needs to be a core feature of every game
TTS needs to be a core feature of every game
Specifically, DECtalk TTS. It's the same kind used in MBA, and I think by Stephen Hawking. (Hawking's voice has some modifications though)

SHIT WHY DIDN'T WE ASK ABOUT TTS IN Q&A SESSION [editline]30th March 2014[/editline]
Specifically, DECtalk TTS.
Please, for the love of God, if you get them to add TTS, let it be for more than just April Fools.
Honestly I would be ok with it being all the time, but as an option thats turned off by default. When I started playing moonbase alpha, back when the aeiou first hit the fan, it wasnt just "drive around in circles and abuse the tts", It made it funner to do things. Race to repair the staton while spouting action movie one-liners and puns about no time, hoard the beacons and make a bacon fort, grab the sloar panels and have a swordfight, whatever you wanted. Kind of similar to SE creative mp. Aside from the culture it brings in (I might expect to see a football spaceship or a few more flying wieners), It would also attract a bigger playerbase. Look at all the people who got moonbase alpha, its still not dead, despite being nothing but a cheap educational simulator with tts. Given, it is free, but Im still impressed that its not dead yet. [editline]30th March 2014[/editline] In other news, this game feels really damn cinematic sometimes
the block seams need to be much less noticeable. I just realized how obnoxious they are, lol.
Fair enough, but MBA is free and most people get it to dick around in with the TTS. SE costs money, potentially limiting the influx. Plus, as it stands right now, you pretty much only interact with your friends, if you even do MP at all, so the filter on that kind of community lies with you.
Feels good to be back in the action. [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Y0oMcU6.jpg[/IMG_thumb] [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/UV9VlmH.jpg[/IMG_thumb] [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/fAhPpmY.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
Does anyone else here make "utility pods"? I mean "large" ships that consist only of a pilot seat, thrusters/gyros, a cargo container, some solar panels, and maybe a gravity generator? I find myself running out of suit energy so often (I wish they'd add that as another realism parameter) that I have to constantly run back to a ship, but if I have this little stop-and-go thing parked next to whatever I'm building, it makes it a little less annoying.

If Goat Simulator 2014 can have TTS, so can Space Engineers. We're not going to be outdone by a load of old goats, are we? (Not sure why this is dumb... If a joke game can have TTS, why not a serious game?)
I tried so hard but in the end it doesn't even matter.. (:v:) TTS is a bit to much work to be done within 1 day and all that for April Fools so we moved on to Plan B. However i will be sure to poke them with the idea every now and then.

Man my FSU really is lethal to big ships, you can dril lright through ships if you want, or to fuck them up really badly, drill partway into the ship and laugh as it just tears shit up.
What the fuck is TTS
What the fuck is TTS
Text to speech
So do I need to start a new world for derelicts to come into effect? And if I do is there a way of coping over ships from another world?

You wanna know what'd make this game grand? Planets. Or at least moons. They don't realy need to be densely populated, have complex biospheres , have plant life, animal life... None O' that. Just think of a huge rounded fuck-off sized astroid with a burning core. gas/ liquid/ice planets would be pretty ace too. In real life almost every plannet is a simple rockball/iceball/gasball and there pretty much are no habited planets/ Yeah, it'd be sure nice if we had a few planets with outposts/derelicts on. It might not be too difficult to add a feasible ecosystem in the oceans underneath some of the ice. But realy I just wanna build huge moonbases. Just give me a great huge round rock with gravity and I should be happy. Dreams of grandness aside; I don't think survival is accessible enough. having all these individual parts is a pain. I think, for the most part, blocks and stuff should be made with Materials rather than components.

I think they said something about adding gas pockets, maybe? That and radiation (which I know isn't a material) as well as some other hazards, which would go a long ways towards making the game more space-like [editline]31st March 2014[/editline]
What the fuck is TTS
Text to Speech, like in Moonbase Alpha or Stephen Hawking. Most people like it for the novelty value - it sounds like Stephen Hawking and you can abuse the system's quirks because it's a program and not a human voice, but I personally feel like it would have some actual use, given the fact that Space Engineers' current chat box doesn't log messages and they disappear after a short time, meaning that if you miss one, it's totally gone.

You can't except to have planets. Even if you do implement them, you'd have to implement proper orbital mechanics, or at least heavily simplified ones like in KSP, but then people will whine that it's too hard. Not to mention there will be no more star wars like flying, because then you'd have to sync orbits with your base/mothership every time you make a little movement. And that's a task that requires a couple of orbits to complete.
i guess that they could theoretically have some extremely small moons (like 40x40) if they divided the map into 50x50 sectors and loaded them as you entered them. they wouldn't be anything other than scaled up asteroids though so i don't really see the point, other than the moon maybe having extremely low, almost non-existent gravity

That is, more tools and possibilities for building adequate and useful bases and ships. Combine that with sectors and you can have proper wars. There would be friendly sectors, neutral ones where you fight, enemy ones that you want to capture, etc. Basically, Control Points, only huge.
I think a lot of people want to build ground-based infrastructure. To that, I say they should double or triple the size of some asteroids, and make them more complex (procedurally generated, maybe?). That way, people who want to do the whole complex asteroid mining/refining/station thing could do that.
