then instead of making a big ole spear with engines on it...
make a spear, and then a separate, superfast engine block, and push the spear. With reactors, engines, and gyros off on the spear, if I'm understanding this correctly its just a floating object, which should be free from speed restrictions.
It won't travel faster than 100~ m/s

Speed is capped at 70.4m/s for large ships, and 104m/s for small ships, so you wouldn't be able to push the "spear" any faster than what your ship can do.

I walk around my ship, then crash it into the red ship and break the collision detection.
Holy crap that was a huge amount of damage done to it. Love the bit where you walk down the corridor just goes all black smoke, that was almost some sci-fi horror shit right there

I hope they will focus on details later when the important parts like weapons and multiplayer are sorted out. Things like debris, effects, gibbing, random part failure (including lights) etc.
Gotta say, the Flood lights are the best way to do open spaces like that, they actually add a fair bit of ambiance.
Also, reflectors tend to eat your FPS.
I'm using Reflectors in my reactor room.
There are total of 6 or 10 reflectors, don't remember exact number now, to mimic foggy/smoky ambience. Once reflectors turns on, FPS drops really hard. Gonna check tomorrow what is my average FPS and what's with reflectors on.

worked 2 hours on my station, added a construction bay for ship building so i can finally start building a small ship tomorrow

Try using some of the interior wall blocks and covering those with the armor blocks. Gets you that neat liney look on the outside with a more sensible look on the inside.
In addition to my other post, I would like to state that I expect a very in depth power system. Things like limits on the amount of power a conduit could carry, and if other rooms with many different systems that require multiple conduits loose some conduits, I would expect lights flickering, Systems shutting down/malfunctioning and doors to be unresponsive/malfunctioning (like dead space 1)
This of course would mean nothing without the content in my other post. I just hope that I can feel like an actual engineer when I face the derelict ship that is in disrepair from a major catastrophe. *cough* deadspace *cough*

It would also be cool to see lights and systems react accordingly to power fluctuation. Perhaps have (some) lights shatter/burst at a sudden major power draining system cut off from the main ship. You know, the shit that gives you the feels that what is happening to your ship DOES matter, that you cant loose your right engine thruster pod and not have your ship react accordingly.

Here it is folks, I have added more to the interior so far it only has, a forward operation center which is located on the top deck, it has a fighter bay, Engineering and Cargo bay I am currently working on Medical, Secondary Command Center, and more general crap for crew will post updates as I get them done.
