It's even funnier when you consider that an inverted cross is still a Christian symbol

He gotta make a huge sign saying "THIS SIDE UP"
How much space science stuff do you have to know to enjoy this game? I'm torn between this and Kerbal Space Program, but I'm fucking terrible at KSP since I can't into orbits and stuff at all.

Well, you've got to be able to calculate the binding energy for Uranium 225, and do some other calculations on the rotational force of the asteroids, so you can properly figure out the emission field around it.
(It's more or less a cooler minecraft in space)

It's not as complicated and science-y as KSP. It's more of a "build big ships and have fun" type of game.
What am I even looking at? With the dark background, the black paint, and what I'm guessing is that intense shadows mod, I can see fuck-all in this picture.
If you click on it to expand it, you can see the outline of the ship by the block trim. Which is intended.
can a cross ever actually be inverted when the notion of orientation is entirely arbitrary
I guess not, but there'll be clear up-down details on the ship to help follow it once I'm finished. :v:

You're right, in the same sense that a swastika is also a Hindu symbol. In this context it clearly isn't being used to promote the greatness of God.
Really I just wanted a symbol that was clearly associated with evil to paint on the side of my evil ship.
I think the idea behind starting with a landing gear is that you can build while aboard a moving ship. This enables us to build construction bays inside of our carriers.

It's been re-appropriated. The Church no longer recognizes or uses it.
I really can't wait till we have some kind of automatic ship building and dismantling. Once you start making medium size ships in survival I get bored just welding everything together.
Salvaged 6 solar panels from a private sail and it seemed to take forever to reconstruct them on my station.
I don't mind it taking a while for the sake of balance as long as it's automatic, but it's a bit annoying when I'm contemplating putting a paper weight on my ctrl key so I can do something else in the 4 odd minutes it takes to construct anything large. Even the armour plates take the piss.
(Darth, would it be possible to get a rain check with the devs on if they're looking at doing this? I know people have mentioned it before)
I completely agree. Drones that carry stuff or weld what you weld would also be a godsend. Just have them non functional I'm gravity and require power and some limited range transmitter
anyone have any suggestions on how I should paint my titan? Right now as you've seen it's still mostly grey except for the reactor and gyro pods, and engine nacelles. It needs an impressive paintjob :v:

Use these colors, because:
I forgot, does the color picker have a color dropper feature? I kinda need it because of reasons
I'm a lazy person. Bugger resource gathering.
Someone make an AI program for ships to fly to asteroids, dig straight for their resources, return to straight to resource dumping point, dump cargo, fuel up and then repeat.
(seriously though; this should be a priority at some point)

Shift+p but beware, it will replace whatever color you have selected in the menu.

because the best look for a ship is a textbook from the 1970s
because the best look for a ship is a textbook from the 1970s
Or anything from the 1970s, really.

Someone should make a 1970s space RV

I agree. Space RVs are the best kind of RV.

Not quite the same sort but I have made one.

Reminds me of the Aeroshuttle from Star Trek
Reminds me of the Aeroshuttle from Star Trek
It happens to be it, but that one also happens to be a space RV. Much like star treks older shuttle designs

Question about scale: what is the dimension of one large ship block vs. one small ship block?
Question about scale: what is the dimension of one large ship block vs. one small ship block?
Large block is 2.5 meter
Small block is 0.5 meter

does it embed into the ventral side of an intrepid-class saucer section?

The aeroshuttle is embedded into the saucer section of an Intrepid class.

Does anyone else actually still mine after the cargo ship update? I've not used my mining ship and gravity scoop thingy since, been able to sustain what I want to do on the scavenged ships and their content. Although I've (only) had about 6-7 hours gameplay since that update.
I also decided to relocate my base inside the asteroid before turning on the meteor strikes, drastically underestimated the power of a large warhead and was 5m away from obliterating all my refineries, supplies and medical room.
I rarely mine
though sometimes its good to get a good stock of uranium every now and again
I imagine there will be a frequency setting eventually.
I think on a proper dedicated server it should be like an hourly event per sector or something a little more random.
I still mine if I need a lot of a particular resource. Grinding down ships does get boring after a while (and so does mining).
I mine to hollow out asteroids and make interiors for my space bases.
