I wish solar panels constructed a bit faster. I'm almost hesitant to even use them because of how fucking long they take.
Went away for a week, came back, saw we got metorites, pretty dissapointed.
Right now they're so bare-bones there is really no reason to actually enable them.
Ach, bare bones is something we'll need to get used to with Space Engineers. Keen isn't a big company and the complexity of the game is insane from a technical standpoint (colour me impressed they got it running so smoothly as it is). Conveyors/Logistics soon though, which should finally make survival tolerable.
I haven't been playing since it first came out. Have they made an ability to save ship blue prints to transfer between worlds yet?
I kinda wish cargo ships and meteorites got held back until they were more fleshed out. Right now they're so bare-bones there is really no reason to actually enable them.
Cargo ships are great, even if they're just derelicts. It gives me something to do that's not mining and welding.
I haven't been playing since it first came out. Have they made an ability to save ship blue prints to transfer between worlds yet?
you can copy in one file and paste to another but that's bout it so far
Is there means of having ores/goods automatically transfer from one machine to another? I.e. : Drill -> cargo box or refinery -> box -> assembler ...or anything like that?
Is there means of having ores/goods automatically transfer from one machine to another? Conveyors will mean I'll play SE again.
I wish solar panels constructed a bit faster. Want to strip the panels off to put on your refining station? Hope you have a lot of time. Fucking obnoxious that is.
That's not an error, just a generic notice that one occurred. It doesn't contain any information that would help us solve it.

Although the log file probably does
This is my log file after trying to launch it via Steam and crashing on launch with the error I posted further up.
This is my log file after trying to launch it via Steam and crashing on launch with the error I posted further up. I am able to launch the 32 bit version from the game folder so long as steam_appid.txt is in there.
Found this on their troubleshooting page.
Problem: The Logfile says "BadImageFormatException" and/or "Could not load file or assembly SteamSDK". You get the "Please run this game from Steam" error message. Solution: First try to restart your Steam client and/or your PC. If this doesn't work, download this file: Steam_appid.txt (right click and save link as) and paste it into the Bin and Bin64 folder of the game. You will find this inside the SteamLibrary folder in C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\SpaceEngineers). Then you can start the game manually by running the SpaceEngineers.exe. You can run the 32-bit version of the game from the Bin folder or the 64-bit version of the game from the Bin64 folder. We are currently working with Steam on fixing this issue as soon as possible.
I can't find anyone who's fixed it on 64-bit, so either keep looking or wait for it to be fixed and play the 32-bit version meanwhile.
Interesting things happen in multiplayer.

If you want to speed up construction/deconstruction of things, you can open SpaceEngineers\Content\Data\CubeBlocks.sbc, search for a part, then edit the value after <BuildTimeSeconds> So for example, open that file, search for "SolarPanelConstruction1", and <BuildTimeSeconds> should be a couple of lines below that
i got tired of salvaging the solar panels after 2, so now we just drill them to destroy them instead
just dissemble them down to the more valuable components. It doesn't take long, don't spend ages trying to get the less valuable shit
Need ship mounted grinders. Grinders and welders. Both of which work considerably faster.
does that work in MP though?
does that work in MP though?
I've heard it works for everyone when you're hosting, no idea if it works when you're a client
I bought this game recently, creative mod is very fun to play, but survival is too hard if you are on an empty map. For example; I have no idea to make computer to make assembler. I mean it says you need computer and steel plates to make a assembler, to make steel plates, you need iron ingots, to produce iron ingots, you need to make refinery, which requires an assembler and without assembler you cannot make computer or display. It looks like there is an infinite loop. I think survival mode is a little bit broken or I am missing something very critical.

yes you're playing on an empty map in a game in which you need to gather resources
Anyone else having issues with when they are hosting a game the ships move flawlessly for you, but really laggy for your clients.
In the future, shouldn't we be able to refine rock into realy hard hull material? (Pure carbon, pure silicon; that kinda stuff's far harder than steel)
In the future, shouldn't we be able to refine rock into realy hard hull material? (Pure carbon, pure silicon; that kinda stuff's far harder than steel)
would be cool to use the minerals as blocks of sorts, if they implemented liquid physics you could do mecury hulls which would probably not be good for anything but absorbing shockwaves.

My latest star trek ship creations: Constitution 2 refit exeter class (white): Has full interior, tries to look close to the original constitution 2 with interior layout and is also flyable. Saber class escort. 1:1 scale. Fov is warping it a little bit to make it look wider than it is. Ofc is also flyable and will have interior completed soon enough.
Welcome to listen servers for everything ever.
It's fixable. First, there's a huge issue where ships travelling in straight lines without acceleration jerk all over the place. That can be fixed with some linear extrapolation. Secondly, you can even make a ship moving around quickly look smoother - alongside the normal ship position updates, whenever any input is made to the ship, send the input ASAP to each other client and let them guess where the ship would be from that input, before waiting for the heavier actual physics data to be fully sent across to re-synchronise.
Jacking Sail ships for my friends in multiplayers was a gigantic pain in the ass. Want to strip the panels off to put on your refining station? Hope you have a lot of time. Fucking obnoxious that is.
Honestly, solar panels are so bad (in terms of construct/deconstruct time) that when I capture a few ships while I'm building something, I make a mental note of where I want my solar panels, then exit out, switch to creative, delete all the solar panels on the captured ships, then build them on the ship I wanted, then switch back to survival. Doing all that takes far less time than actually building them yourself.
In the future, shouldn't we be able to refine rock into realy hard hull material? (Pure carbon, pure silicon; that kinda stuff's far harder than steel)
Harder, but not stronger. A carbon-silicon composite would absorb the brunt of an impact but would ablate off in huge chunks like there was no tomorrow.
