welp I'm somehow getting worse performance now. Fraps says 50 fps when I look at the asteroids, but looking around is so choppy it feels more like 20 And it stutters like hell
In one of my saves my unlocked ivy i7 is disagreeing with the update, but just one of them, don't know what it can be. 35 fps before and 29 now in that save.
looks like I'll cry myself to sleep tonight [editline]10th April 2014[/editline] the artificial mass blocks look kinda cool though
Holy shit, I was not expecting artificial mass. So it basically makes ships subject to gravity fields?
When do they push this update? I'm dying to play with this stuff now
When do they push this update? I'm dying to play with this stuff now
It's already out
So in the video the more transparent part of the glass is supposed to be inside the ship, yet for me it's on the outside, what gives?
You sure youve got it rotated right? Theres also inv versions which I'm guessing means theyre flipped the other way round. But goddamnit, we can't use them for small ships, this makes me a sad engineer.
So in the video the more transparent part of the glass is supposed to be inside the ship, yet for me it's on the outside, what gives?
There are two types of each glass block, normal and inverted
Time to make accelerator gates!
hmm trying to add mass to small ship, can't see the control screen for it after it's added
one small bummer with the artificial mass blocks. they're affected by your own ships gravity gens, which could make them a little tricky to use on large ships
Now all we need is some sort of wiremod so we can toggle individual grav blocks with key presses and we'll have gravity propelled ships.
Now all we need is some sort of wiremod so we can toggle individual grav blocks with key presses and we'll have gravity propelled ships.
I'm wondering, in the video we saw the ships orient towards the gravity but not actually fall. Is it their thrusters/gyros that are keeping that from happening? I'm just thinking that grav-ships might be a bit trickier.

Also yeah the thrusters probably didn't help.

Artificial mass blocks? First person Large ship cockpits? Oh my. Oh my...
It's already out
o cool gonna go make mass accelerators.
So now i can do what i've always wanted to... Hyper-gravity-accelerated RAMMING SHIPS
I'm messing around with some hangar doors and I really, really hope they'll allow you to input numbers instead of dragging around slider bars. It's literally impossible to get my hangar doors stop at the angles I want them to. [editline]10th April 2014[/editline] ah, you can adjust with the arrow keys but it isn't the easiest thing ever.
Replaced the Ulysses' windows with glass. That also finally got me motivated enough to strip out all the shipmelting internal thrusters and put them on the outside. Is it really damn fun to pilot now? yes.
I hope some sort of decoration items are added eventually, so most places without equipment in them aren't just empty metal rooms.

I can't wait to see the death canon that squeegy makes from this new update...or whatever machination it is; No matter what it is, I'm sure it will be interesting
Thinking about making the White Base. Anyone know an easy way to calculate how long large blocks are to get accuracy in meters? Need to figure out how long 262 meters are to get a lengthwise frame for 1/1 scale.
one small bummer with the artificial mass blocks. they're affected by your own ships gravity gens, which could make them a little tricky to use on large ships
Tricky? I think you meant IDEAL. (Sorry about the nearly unbearable compression, I was in a rush. :v:)
The latest update has made Space Engineers unplayable for me. The framerate rapidly tanks upon starting the game, not even with a game started, and when I do go into a game it runs in super slomo at about 5FPS. Yet, when I run bandicam with vsync off, the FPS overlay shows 999 on the menu. My friend and everyone else seems to be unaffected so I think it's a hardware configuration issue. Anyone have any idea what I can do about it? My video card is an nvidia GTX 295 if that helps.
Oh my god. Thats fabulous.
My framerate is still okay, but this update makes my CPU fan scream at me.
Those artificial mass blocks don't add their weight to your ship's. They upset your center of gravity like they were attached with landing gear, so you could in theory make some interesting hypermaneuverable fighters with them.
