things attached with landing gears still add mass...
I meant that your thrusters don't account for them, causing a thrust line offset from your center of gravity, and a pull in the direction of the weight block.
the glass is pretty

it also fills in the block shapes we've been asking for, for now

Does this new mass block mean that you can use a horizontal grav gen and mass blocks to create a instant ram-speed warp drive?
Someone should definitely try to weaponise this by using it to propel a giant spacewhale into full frontal ramming speed.
This also means tractor beams can be a thing.
What does damage on glass look like?
What does damage on glass look like?
Its bulletproof glass.
You sure youve got it rotated right? Theres also inv versions which I'm guessing means theyre flipped the other way round. But goddamnit, we can't use them for small ships, this makes me a sad engineer.
They wouldn't really make sense for small ships until there's a kerbal space program esque command seat we can slap onto them, anyway.

Looks and also as an extra layer of protection so you don't have to have your cockpit exposed while still being able to see.

"the saying goes "don't throw stones in glass houses" however we've found in space engineers that glass is in fact the safest thing to build a ship out of"

Now with trailer!
maglev trains should be possible now
Is it just me, or does the game look like plastic now? Maybe my graphics settings got bumped down or something, I don't recall it looking this bad:

Couldn't you just look in the settings? Yes they did
I don't like the framedrops I get from ships that are 500-600 meters or close to that so I have a hard time finding motivation to do those sizes, sorry.
For the constitution 2 refit above, that one is already borderline too big since its 300-400 meters.
Isn't there already a galaxy class on the workshop, not that its flyable or has good interior.
Have you considered doing any pre-federation earth ships? Like the DY-500, maybe?
I hope some sort of decoration items are added eventually, so most places without equipment in them aren't just empty metal rooms.
On this note, I hope they add some kind of "Ops" terminal that lets you lock out the control panel access on any specified object. It would allow you to have control panel access only from your bridge if it were necessary. That way people can't do ridiculous things like turn off your reactors or reverse the gravity from the exterior panel on your entry airlock.

I did look in the settings, but the options are kind of limited and there's no clear "make my game look like not-plastic" option. IIRC it was mostly resolution, texture/render quality (which was set to max, weirdly enough?) and which processor you use.

I'm saying that because my settings got changed to normal (there's no low) after this update too, I noticed and set it back to max, everything became fine as before
I can't wait to see the death canon that squeegy makes from this new update...or whatever machination it is; No matter what it is, I'm sure it will be interesting
It will happen, but right now I'm still working on the video from 12 updates ago...
It's quite fun intercepting passing ships, not so fun trying to disassemble them. Mainly the many trips back and forth to deposit acquired items into storage (even at 10x storage). Would be nice if there were small ship grinders.
They need to add a setting for tool speed similar to how they have the other settings for assembler speed and inventory size.

It would make small ships even more fun than they already are. A small ship that can literally EAT large ships would be hilarious for combat too.

They would need to be in contact range with a block, though, so if the target ship makes a sudden move you either fall out of range or get smacked against the hull. But if the speed is to be greater than handheld, that probably wouldn't matter too much as you'd be grinding so fast. A quick and blunt fix would be to simply disallow grinding of ships owned (or currently piloted) by another player.

Well, the large ship should have escorts or something like that in MP combat situations. Something cool would be like, drilling into a ship then boarding it. Some kind of magnetic grapple to attach yourself to a ship, or a tractor beam kind of thing would be really cool. You could attach, drill in, then do full on piracy by killing the pilot and any passengers.
With the newest update, has anyone tried making a ship orbit a platform with a gravity generator?
I feel dirty for doing this but I tried to go into the game's settings and edit all the construct/deconstruct time values to 1 so that construction of my giant space yacht would go faster. I'm not entirely sure if it worked, but I'm committed to this shit. It takes so fucking long to deconstruct captured ships, and I've got several floating around my space dock that have heavy armor or solar panels and such, and I don't want to spend an hour deconstructing one ship.

or crafting better tools/upgrading tools
After this pic was taken, another private sail and mining transporter was added to the collection. Started with the wrecked red ship scenario, wondering whether I should commit myself to rebuilding said glorious vessel, or build my own.

As much as I love the idea of Grav propulsion, all I can think of is:

So i was playing with the new mass blocks last night. made a ship that clampy-clamps giant bomb clusters and launches them forward. Thing is, the mass blocks are affected by all gravity wells, not just yours, so launching a bomb straight at a ship with a well just made the shot curve straight down.
into my station. Oh well.
I've just realized... I can design an actual space yacht now.
Yay glass.
I think the new glass is great for creating Minmatar-esque ships.
